  • Aling Flora has been selling “Biniribid” and other rice cakes for almost 40 years now in Naga City. Each rice cake is handmade every day using local ingredients like sangkaka (sugar cane sweetener) and coconut which are then traditionally cooked using firewood.
By peddling her freshly made goods every day, she was able to send her children through school while also becoming a local celebrity amongst her usual customers in town. While life has thrown many curveballs her way, Flora Cuerdo has proven that a little kindness can make a significant mark on people’s lives.

They should be supported by LGUs (DTI) perhaps to get them part of the economy- business name, financial capital, network trading etc.

    Hi!
I love your videos. My wife is Filipina and I enjoy your content bc it teaches me so much about Pinoy Culture. It also gives me a jumping off point to speak with my in-laws about how they grew up!
Alas I do not speak Tagalog. So I try to follow videos like this one as best I can. But without captions it can be difficult.
I live in Chicago and watch these videos with my wife, kids, cousins and Tito’s and Titas. Many of us don’t speak the language. Is it possible to have English captions for your episodes that are local dialect heavy?
    Just that request. Merry Christmas!!!

Cried watching this. In 2015, in my first job here in Metro Manila, I tried explaining so many kakanin I grew up in Bicol whenever I want to eat because I miss home...and I don't know what it is called here. Now we can just show them the video hehehe.

I grew up in Albay and this is one of the meryendas I looked forward to every afternoon. I just tried making this yesterday and I can't say I nailed it because nothing can beat the ones that were made by my Lola Ninan. Thank you for featuring small businesses in your channel, specially those that made us reminisce our little happy moments when we were young.

I really miss my grandma when I watched this. She used to cook different rice cakes before whenever we go home to province for a vacation. But I haven't taste this kind yet. Looks very delicious! Nanay's family was very lucky to have her. Very loving and genuine mother. 🤗💕
