oh my goodness i guessed wrong and was surprised when you revealed it after 5 minutes haha that suspense was really fun, thanks so much for sharing this
Thank you for this I accidentally bought a large-ish image (19x23in, videogame themed) in rounds instead of square and was feeling discouraged because of so many reviews praising squares... But this made me have a new look on it, the image in rounds looks a bit more like a painting and the shine is so, so beautiful! I believe I will be able to do it finally :)
Nice comparison!! They both turned out lovely, but I think I like the one on the left more. I think there is more shine and I think I like the shading more. Thanks for doing these and thanks for sharing.
Laverne Hodge if the square ones face was a shade darker on the light bits, I think it would of looked better, but still they are both lovely. Tfw hugs Cal x
Ooh I picked it right! I guessed square on the right! I agree with you on close up vs further away for which one you find more appealing, but they are both beautiful!
Both are beautiful and the woman in the canvas looks quite regal! I prefer working with rounds - only because they are easier to place, but I have done both and if I really love a canvas that only comes in square drills, I will work with it. I think both canvases are lovely! Thanks for sharing!
Well, with square you get more detail and it does look much better from far away, but you sacrifice some of the sparkle with square...so do you want a more detailed pic, or one with a bit more sparkle? is the choice I guess. Personally I love the sparkle, but don't want it to look blurred or more like blobs of color from a distance, so I go with square and hopefully keep as much of the sparkle as I can when sealing it...any suggestions?
Agree with you . I only seal if I have popping drills or don't want dust settling on it, I use watered down gloss modge podge or a spray sealer and I haven't lost the sparkle with either. I have done a video on it, ua-cam.com/video/1FaJogOKjTU/v-deo.html is one of the videos but i have done others which if you go on my page and type in sealing diamond paintings in the search bar it will bring them all up. thanks for watching take care and stay safe hugs Cal x
Hello Caroline, Thank you for taking time to do this for us. I definitely love the face and sparkle more with the rounds. Knowing you had to fight what I call poopy pooping drills on the squares is definitely a turn off. The reality is I honestly don't mind working at either as long as the squares behave themselves. Have a wonderful day.. Jesus bless you and yours,Lin ✝️🐶🐶🐶🐶🐢🐦🦎🦎🦎🦎🦎🦎🦎💖🦒🐧🐲🤗
Beautiful diamond paintings. I prefer the one on the right the square one to me it shows the details better but it does not sparkle as much as the round one Tfs Janet
I’m new to diamond art and have been motivated to start a UA-cam channel around Diamond Art and a few other crafty things I’d like to share. Love you used African art work to show the difference.
Please do start a channel, I will watch you and give you some support. This image is my favourite diamond painting so far. One I gave to my best friend and the other is in my bedroom. Thanks for stopping by and welcome to diamond painting tfw hugs Cal x
Oh my.... they are both beautiful. I can't choose which one I like better. I tend to alternate also between rd and sq. I'll have one or two of each going at the same time so I don't get bored. But they just look grand👍🏽😍
I wonder if the fact that they are from different companies makes a difference in the way the face was charted and the colors chosen? I'm so glad to see the way these turned out. I've always been a square drill fan, but I like the round painting better. The sparkle is amazing, the face looks so much better, the detail in the face is better too I think. I'm pleasantly surprised at the results, thank you so much!
Huacan didn't do the square but they suggested their sister company evershine as they get most of their dp from the same place, but you never know. As I look at them sometimes I prefer the round and another time the light is slightly different and I prefer the square so I am still undecided which is best lol tfw hugs Cal x
Not sure which is which but I prefer the one on the left closer and further away. The shading in the face is just to intense in my opinion. Go figure, I prefer rounds myself. Think they give more of an advantage in placement. Well done!
Thank you for doing this! From up on the chair, I saw a difference, but couldn't say which was which. As soon as you stepped down, I knew! The sparkle on the left gave it away. I'm sorry you had to go through Drillmageddon to do this! I have decided only to buy square from EverMoment and DAC until I hear the others have improved. There are some aspects of both drills that are desirable. I really don't have a preference....other than the fact that I know I don't want to do another popping drill fiasco. Thanks again. I love your videos!
Thats exactly how I feel as well Cori, but Millie has just given me the purple Elk to finish, as she started it but doesn't like it cause the square drills are popping so i'm having to do it lol. Once it's glued hopefully it should be fine. thanks for watching and commenting hugs Cal x
Personally, I prefer the left one, by far, just my opinion of course, but the light patches on her face in the square one, takes away from the beauty of her face. It almost looks like you haven't finished that part! Thank you for showing this comparison, I always wondered which would look better, I prefer doing square one's, but definitely think round look better!
I think as well if the light parts where just slightly darker the square would be my favourite but at the moment I can't really decide lol tfw hugs Cal x
I think the right one (square) is nicer image and the face just looks like it shining with the sun> I knew the difference immediately and prefer the square. Great job on both thought Cal. Just got to mention Rosie has taken a turn for the worse tonight she was at the vet today too but she has gotten worse tonight. May be back at the vets tomorrow as we are supposed to be going on holiday Sunday. Will let you know what happens. Love and hugs Annie and Rosieposy xxxx
The round turned out to look much more natural. The square is just so pixelated, and made her face look splotchy even from far away I think. I even prefer the darker color of the round, because it adds to the natural look of it.
Asode from the reported differences (between working with)rounds vs square ...no I really dont see a dofference. They sparkle the same. Sonce these are sister companies, I guess the drills are the same quality. Wonder why the squares popped but not the rounds.Interesting the tone differences between the two
@@Cals-All-Crafts well, I'm not sure how much difference it would make. It would require you to have a set of Ethics that would allow you to buy the same design from two completely different vendors, knowing full well that at least one of those companies is still in the design from the other one. Also, I feel like once you start getting into the already known variables about quality from China vendors... you may not have any solid variables or control sets to work with. One of the biggest issues with vendors from China is that they lack consistency in a lot of things to do with quality, customer service, and quality between prints.
I just learned about diamond painting 2 months ago from a lady that is in her late 80s, and she works on it everyday all day long for a couple of years now, and they are gorgeous. I like the round.
You will find it very relaxing hobby to have. I prefer rounds as well slightly easier to do I find. Thanks for watching, please take care and stay safe hugs Cal x

Great video. Thank you. She is beautiful. Nice to see diamond paintings that are images of African American women 😍😍😍

Nan Heimovics they are both nice can’t make my mind up which is nicest lol tfw hugs Cal x
I like the one on the right better
I prefer the square drill one but must admit I prefer to work with the round drills tfs 💕
Lynn Noakes Shabbylicious I keep changing my mind on which I like lol, so which ever one I have I will be pleased tfw hugs Cal x
TY for sharing this. I enjoyed it. I live both of them.
I would be pleased which ever one I end up with tfw hugs Cal x
Excellent!! I really enjoy the one on the right but the left has beautiful sparkle!

Right is square. I was wrong lol. Love the time you put into this.💕💕 The best is the left. When I thought the right you were far away. LOL
I still can't decide which is better, everytime I look at them I change my mind lol tfw hugs Cal x
Very beautiful both!
