The King Midget was first sold by Midget Motors as a kit car before they offered pre-essembled models as an option then later only sold prebuilt models. They were in production as kits or fully assembled from '48 to '70. Midget Motors faced bankruptcy in 1969 after which another company, Barthman Corporation, bought up the remains of Midget Motors. Unfortunately a fire in a new plant built for building King Midget cars, along with increased cost due to knew safety and emmisions standards, made restarting production too costly for them and the were forced to abandon any attempt to restart production of the cars in 1970.

More like 20% car, 40% rust, 15% missing, and the rest is hopes and dreams. At least Mustie set himself an attainable goal "let's get it moving". Most people would buy this, get excited, get disappointed, get really disappointed, thrown in the trash or right back into the boxes. Did some digging on this, interim, and there's a lot of wrong with this one, unfortunately. Altered parts, missing components. He'll cobble them together, but it's gonna be a struggle. I'm willing to bet that there's another box he missed, or they missed when the swap occured. Because looking at the type of containers he got, and how things were put together, all that's missing, geni, sprockets, shtuff, that's fits perfectly into another box. The doors were clearly rotten. Here's why, someone modified the rear "cover", which is an anti-rust mod they do to keep water which would otherwise freely get into the "engine compartment". Don't get me wrong, equally into this build, but i doubt it's gonna be a restoration, more like a Mustiefication. :)

The carpenters house is always the last to be repaired. The plumbers house usually only receives quick fixes for the plumbing. The mechanics wife is not infrequently left fuming because her car is broke down far away from home. She can't reach her husband on the phone because he has gone to repair someone else's car.
Beautifully done, sir! My vote: get it perfectly operable, find/make all missing components, don’t worry about paint. Just get it 100% complete and functional. Worry about paint last, or just enjoy it “patina.” Would be good to just get rid of the rust rot, leave the minor surface rust I’m not a fan of patina looks, but this would be a wonderful exception. No clear coat or mineral oil over the rust, though. She’s a basket case revival/survivor!

Motorhomes had just been invented, and these little jeep-like vehicles made perfect tow vehicles. They were great for low-performance noodling around in the desert!
The Best part of waking up.... a little mustie1 in your cup.....
This sounds sooo wrong bahahahha 🤣🤣😂😂
I had to brew two cups of coffee there was so much content here!
My Dad had one of these old Wisconsin engines he rescued from the trash... it had the SAME stuck valve... and he did the same lube and tap(hammer) trick. It went back to sticking soon after. I think pulling it would be the best option, although more difficult.
Probably the "distibutor" thing is there to provide a variable ignition timing for the engine...
Correct, OMC used the same setup back in the day.its actually called a timer
@@cmonster6 Never heard that term before, but "timer" makes sense in this application. After all, it doesn't distribute the spark (since it's a single-cylinder) but just sets the timing. :-)
That is why he took time to explain about the advance.
Amazing job getting that engine running!
I thing like a Mustie laugh when an engine turns over and sounds good!
Another great WILL IT RUN Video Mustie1, Thanks for posting it.
The exhaust valve being stuck is extremely common, ive worked on a few of these old wisconsins and it seems to be the same for all
My friends Dad use to have a King midget when I was growing up and I remember him driving it to church and coming over to visit now and then! It was awesome!
When you were running it at a slow idle, I thought to myself,
"OK Mustie, now you are just showing off" LOL
They call that "Cadillac'n"!
I cant get enough of these small engine vids
"if the women don't find you handsome, they should at least find you handy" - Red Green

My favorite red green quote was after someone said he'd better alert the Canadian air force about something.
He replied
"It's after 6pm....he's gone home. "
I broke a rib.
I swear this quote is posted on every single one of Mustie's videos.
Keep your stick on the ice.
The carpenters house is always the last to be repaired. The plumbers house usually only receives quick fixes for the plumbing. The mechanics wife is not infrequently left fuming because her car is broke down far away from home. She can't reach her husband on the phone because he has gone to repair someone else's car.
Don't forget the handyman's secret weapon: Duct Tape!
Cool little project. Thrilled the motor is good.
42:43 glorious. Some people will never understand this joy.
