I recently went through my father's 1075 reel which was in excellent condition s his other reels. It also had just 1 pin pickup and I believe it was built that way to cut production cost. I am planning on installing a second pin to help with its performance. I have several Abumatic 170's reels which all have 2 pin pickups. In my opinion I really believe the design and construction of the vintage 70's model was the best.
Your videos have been very helpful and enjoyable to watch, with regards to this reel having 2 pickup pins. I have had several abumatic models and only 1 has had 2 pickup pins however all have had 2 holes. I think some of the more expensive models have 2 . I have added an extra one to one in the past
Thank you very much. I just looked at the parts diagram, and sure-enough, it only shows one pick-up pin. That's surprising for such a high-dollar reel. It wouldn't seem like much expense for them to have added a second pick-up pin. Thanks for watching and for the info!
@@tonys.5940 I know those reels weren't cheap and should have the extra pin I have another UA-cam channel and I have a few spincast reel videos Please check it out The channel name is NL outdoors 75
Thanks! Unfortunately, with my regular job, as well as a huge pile of my own reels yet to do, I'm afraid I don't have any time. But Dennis at 2nd Chance Tackle and I think Rick Stivers at Young Martin's Reels (both are UA-camrs) take-in reels for service and repair. You might inquire with them. Best regards.
A friend gave me an old fishing rod along with this mechanism and your video really saved me a lot of searching, thanks!

Good to know! Thanks for the info. I'm surprised they cheaped-out and opted not to have two pick-up pins 😞
