Great video. My wife and son bought this model for me for Father’s Day one year and the real was great…but short lived. It became difficult to reel so I set aside to repair later. Fast forward 10+years, I just rediscovered it and decided get after it, before I saw your video. The e clip on the gear shaft slipped off and wedge itself in the corner next to the pinion making it difficult to reel. After trial and error I was able to put it back together but could not figure out sequence for washers and friction washers. BUT THANKS TO YOUR VIDEO😊 I got everything in the right order. Thanks your video👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼💪🏼❤️
Mathew, great job. I’m sure you would have eventually figured it out, but I’m glad I was able to assist. I’m getting ready to create the basic service video for this reel.
Bought 276 Ul and it's max drag is 250g: can't reel in anything. Got $$ back and kept the reel. This far this video has helped me to disassemble the top of the reel.
ok, I ended up cutting a new shim from ~2mm thick leather and placing above the spool, to maximise the tension on it and prevent from slipping. It "sort of works" now, but since it's for 5 year old, it's "good enough". Certainly he will be able to set a hook now and lift a small cod on a pier.
I have 2 of these I bought for my kids complete with the Abu med/light rods. 1 still works fine, the other’s pick-up pins don’t fully extend even after a generous cleaning and oiling. Don’t know if I’d go as far into this thing, I consider these to be throw away items.
Which Abumatic would you say is the best you have come across in your experience? I recently bought a Abumatic 1076. I was impressed it has an oscillating spool.
To be perfectly honest, I’m not a fan of any spincast reel that uses the star drag design. I don’t care for the feel of the drags in the gear train. I just don’t like how they feel when catching a larger fish. Some folks love them. It’s all a matter of what you get used to.
Excellent video...
