Greenwood knows music theory really well and apply it to their magnificent compositions like a rocket scientist. Such an intellectual composer. “Open Spaces” will always be one of the most creative works of art in every aspect.
There are a lot of extended techniques, so... sometimes you need to have tons of imagination to imagine how it sounds, after that you can talk with the orchestra or the musicians, sorry for my english, it's not my natal language.
I watched this in the theatre at least 17 times. The number one reason for coming back was for this great score. I had never felt so inspired to pick up a camera, write music, act, and location scout all at once like this film did for me. This was really something special to me. Thank You.
It’s the goat 🐐 saw it in theaters and to this day I’m in awe of it. I’m not a “weirdo” by any social standards a big success. I think of this film and score often.
He only didn't get nominated because he used some past material on it which is a violation of academy award eligibility unfortunately because this score was absolutely breathtaking
It was ineligible because it contained tracks from already existing works. Not because it was SNUBBED. The soundtrack was the best that year and won every other awards apart from the Oscars which disqualified it.
This is exactly what a movie should be. Great directing, great score, great editing, great acting, great costumes, great story, great energy, great inspiration. That’s what I got out of it having watched it seven times in the theater. I felt inspired to want to achieve any of these great things and it has yet to wear off on me every single time I watch it.
I own this movie. There's 2 sound track types. 1=old school, where the music is used to illict a mood during whatever is on the screen. 2= where it's more of a 'mood piece' but is meant as a piece of music. I was ver ysurprised Johhny went with 1 for the ST. That, being said, it's super good, and weird, lol. A lot of it not only shows his skill level but really intensify's certain scenes. I always say, Classical music didn't sie= it's only found in movies now. When you hear Clint Mansiel, or Hans Zimmer, or Thomas Newman= these are just classical music scores set into movies. This isn't that. I like both ways and don't have a preference but it's nice to see someone take the old school route, it doesn't happen often.

I watched this movie 3 times, and I never heard music, I swear .... It was so perfectly in tune with vision.
Exactly
At like 2 mins...insanity. How does one write music like that? I hate AND love that Hans Z is now saying Jonny Greenwood is his favorite composer.

Wow Jonny Greenwood is my favourite composer's favourite composer

Exactly the score was so good, I couldn't bat my eye my eyes were glued to the fucking screen, godamm it's so good
17 times! wow, how I envy you
one of the most impressive soundtracks in both composition and performance. Bravo!

He’s essentially making violinists play guitar. 🤣
Play
@@purplejuiceyt2829 pay homage to guitar
And he's playing violin with his guitar
Really shows you that anyone can play guitar.
@@TheJupiteL Beat me to it!
So happy to discover after the fact that one of my favourite movies / movie soundtracks is by one of my favourite musicians
It’s great we have rock stars like Greenwood and Trent Rez or doing some of the best movie and tv scores
This score is a masterpiece 👌🏼
Jonny Greenwood: the quiet one in Radiohead. Hilarious especially because they’re all basically the quiet ones 🤣
God he is so so talented
The composer seems like he’d be pretty good at guitar
Anyone Can Play Guitar
daww look at jonny filming the orchestra, he's so proud fff
Of?
Jonny didn’t write that last piece
Can we stop and acknowledge the prowess of the woman at 4:47. She OWNS!
Man, I need to rewatch this movie in full surround volume.
- Mr. Daniel?
- I'm finished
4:35
I hope I can see this film with a live Orchestra one day.

I would love to be part of an orchestra like this. So much feeling and innovation! All the orchestras I've been in are very clinical, very tired.
@Jesus From The Hood. What??
Looks like an outrageously miserable and diffficult job
he actually WROTE that music? wow. impressive.
He’s the definition of a classical mad lad
He's a total genius.
Jonny is my god
He went to Oxford to study music. Man's a genius
he also has good taste in music, inspirations that stem from Exuma and Comus just wicked stuff
2:22 I can hardly hear a difference but this guy is a classic genius so of course he hears it lmao that's what's scary when going into the music world
THEY'RE USING PICKS. AMAZING.
i think he did the same thing for burn the witch as well
Everyone involved is pretty incredible it seems like.
The soundtrack made this film for me even better and the goat
@qer greatest of all time
It's bullshit this didn't get an Oscar
Tom free Well...Oscars are always bullshit

This is incredible ⭐️✨🌛
I feel like the composers in modern horror movies took inspiration from the film score of TWBB.
This is what true Art does to you!
That was very interesting to watch. I wish there were more
The music made that movie next level good
Ouvi-lo é tão estranho mas ao mesmo tempo é incrível
Incredible
One of the best clips on youtube rn

I don't get out much, but this music is astounding - I'm a Bela Bartok among other like approaches.
Phenomenal
What a great peek into genius! And what's up with the dislikes.. Must be the "people" Daniel Plainview was referring to :/
People With nothing worth liking.
I look at people and see nothing worth liking
do you know who is. the conductor?
1:06 WOW❤
What is this in 2014?
It feels like this video was recorded by pt anderson
Muito bom
Jonny is way above Trent Reznor
Fucking perfection.
I hear a lot of Pendercki in the beginning.
I think greenwood talks about Pendercki being an influence in the Steve Riech conversation book thing
Why 3 disslikes????
I dont understand!
Dude!
Ondes Martenot for the win!
...
I can hear burn the witch in this
me
Those poor musicians
He has poor taste in clothes
ok and what are you wearing 🤨 pajamas. ? i doubt you're fashion week yourself sit down
How do you write this lol wtf
Beautiful. What an achievement...and the movie has no token black actors. Best movie of the decade.
there was absolutely no need to mention that beyond a presumably underhanded racist agenda on your behalf. what a shame
Alonso de Hojeda looking at your last name I'm surprised to see such a discriminatory comment like this
Listen to these triggered fuckwads. Not everything has to have diversity. Period pieces must be accurate. Sorry 🤷🏼♂️ not racist.
@Alan Cortes if this movie was cast today, daniel plainview would be a black woman. and his son chinese. Facts.
Leftism is a curse on humanity
