    For those of us who don't actually listen to both Radiohead and traditional dodecaphonic music, this sort of thing is really hard to write. I had no idea Greenwood was such a talented composer. He's up there with Zappa in terms of breaking musical stereotypes: A rock and roll star can still compose great atonal works for orchestra.

      Jonny Greenwood did not use dodecaphony in this music.

      @@Amir_Maratovich i wrote that 10 years ago I have no clue, was probably just using dodecaphonic as a catch all term for atonal music

      @@TDederick This is the music made for the film Norwegian Wood, composed by Jonny Greenwood, guitarist from Radiohead. The film is based on a novel of the same name written by Haruki Murakami, which was named after the song by the Beatles.

      @TheDaddyO44 8 років тому +1

      +AlthoughNotAFollower By your Geogaddi avatar I'm assuming you already kinda know what "real music" is for me: that which explores chord structures, textures, and atmospheres that you just don't hear everyday in bland commercial pop, rock and tv

    • @TheDaddyO44
      @TheDaddyO44 8 років тому

      Funnily enough if any instrument could be said to be MY instrument it would be the Akai 3000 sampler! So I have a good understanding of its creative depth. I made a good living off that thing, from disposable dance crap to more experimental and 'serious' compositions. And admittedly the word 'serious' is probably more apt here than 'real'! My original point was just that we get blasé about music because of the uninspired dirge we are all subjected to in the general media everyday. A piece like this, or an album like Geogaddi can bring home just how profound music can be...in the right hands :)

    Amazing music. Why more orchestras don't play more music from CURRENT artists like Greenwood is beyond me. I guess they'll never figure out how to get themselves out of debt...the answer seems pretty obvious to me.

    i saw this in sao paolo , muito anho passao ... truly amazing, the compositions before & after this (it was programmed with other more boring more classical usual standard house/kitchen/garden stuff) didn't matter to me :--) as always, i sat on a wrong chair, but next to a nice brazilean woman, we talked, you know how these things go, took a cab afterwards, drove along the coastline & kissed passionately ... but eeh ... can't seem to find more info on the concerto, was in a big opera building ... help ! somebody falla portugues ?

    • @statcous
      @statcous 3 роки тому

      It's the soundtrack for a film released in 2011. The film itself is an adaptation of a popular novel called 'Norwegian wood' by Haruki Murakami. Norwegian wood is also a song by the Beatles which is the reason for the book's title.

  • @GoatHoovesInSpats
