- Nothing beats a good set of bending forks for making controlled bends of all shapes. These are indispensable for making scrolls, hooks, rings and any other curved shape

I enjoyed the video John. I started making scrolls over 50 years ago. It fun to see a style where I say "Oh, I didn't think of that"...
I know that I’ve seen you use these In videos, but it never dawned on me to make a pair of forks. My forge is now 7 months old, so I’ve got A LOT TO LEARN!
Scroll forks can come in handy for other things, too. When wiring my shop, I had to run the 150 amp cable into the breaker box, and wanted to do a clean job of it. It had to be brought up in conduit and make a couple tight turns, and my father-in-law (a retired electrical engineer) declared I'd never get it to make the turns as cleanly as I wanted. A couple minutes with a scroll fork, and the job was done. Now he wants me to make him one. :)
Lovely scroll work, John! I've been trying to get the skill, and it's a slow job that I find relaxing. I enjoyed watching your 3 minute video. ~Wendi UK
Oh, yeah first!😊. Simple but very adequate! I also like the adjustable ones you showed in an other video. A piece of rod welded on an angle iron and two of those in the vice make a perfectly adjustable bending fork. Keep up the good work John, still love what you're doing!
Your videos are simple to fallow and very informative. Thank you for making them.
Great job John. Really liked this one and you showed it perfectly. All those different bending forks and how you use them together too! Thanks so much. Fred.
Very nice video today John. Very nice job explaining and information. Can't wait to see more videos soon John. Keep up the great craftsmanship and hard work my friend John. Forge On. Fab On. Weld On. Keep Making. God bless.
Thanks 👍
@@BlackBearForgeII you're welcome John.
Great video I like all of your channels you keep it simple and concise and ez for a noob like me to understand
Glad you like them!
I have seen the videos on how you make the bending forks John , Im yet to try it your way but for now I have fabricated a few . Sorry . :)
great episode!👍👍👌👌
Wonderful video as always, thank you good sir.
great advice
Love your video I have learned a lot from you & them thanks
Sir, you are awesome. Thank you for sharing :)
I recently recycled an old 3 point rebar bender into a bending hardy. I cut off the top leaving enough on to make it square for the hardy hole. Then just heated it and hammered down flush with the face. It doest look to bad. I may need to cut one of the pillars off. It might get in the way on larger stuff. 🍻
Hello I am brand new to blacksmithing and this looks like a great little helper to make matching scrolls. Thank you for the tip. Like I said brand new so please forgive me if this question seems dumb. What is the difference between a cold chisel that I have used for years and a hot cut chisel? I bought some pre made tongs but I have to finish and rivet them together and also need to alter them since I am a lefty just saw your left handed tong video more great info. Thanks again & stay safe😀
You should compete in forged in fire
Hi John great job how about twisting wrench
I'll add that to the list
What kind of tips do you have for spacing
I was wanting to know: is it necessary or best practice to clear away rust from scrap pieces you are wanting to use for projects?
Probably best practice to clean it. But since it falls off during the forging process I don't worry about it too much.
Hi there, im new to blacksmithing. I have a rather dumb question to ask here.
When heating the steel, do i put the steel in the forge at the beginning of the fire (when the fire is not that hot), so the fire and steel becomes hotter together, or should i heat the forge fire 1st, wait until the temperature becomes very high, then only i put the steel inside?
Im not sure whether theres any issue in this, like will it affect the steel? or it doesnt matter as long as the steel gets hot enough to forge.
Thanks.
Generally its best to wait until the forge is hot.
Is this another channell
