If you're not familiar with Mr. Kunzo (a legendary Japanese grower), you should look him up. He grows all his philodendrons and monsteras trailing or bonsai-esque, some in hanging baskets even. I'm sure he's done it with verrucosum too it's absolutely inspiring
Love love love your videos, I’m just started to get adventurous, & I’m trying to soak up all your information. After my dog died I needed something to love that didn’t break my heart, I started with all the usual boring plants & found I have green fingers and love all your plants, also your so entertaining with so much knowledge. I live in the uk, so slightly more tricky with the natural light or more expensive with grow lights, but I’m determined to make my place sing with plants like your beautiful home does. Thank you ❤
I can’t wait to see how the trailing experiment goes! Couldn’t agree with you more, Veracosum is a super sexy plant, it’s leaves are hypnotising 😵💫😵💫 Brad makes a great supervisor 😂😂
No matter what I do, my plants don't turn out like you show in the video. I'm about to go crazy🤣 Greetings from Turkey. You are the best in this business 💜
Love your videos. You are so good at growing big, healthy plants! Thanks for helping us learn! You should consider getting a cute potting matt or tub for your floor to make clean up easier. :)
I adore your verrucosum! Mine is currently struggling and I took some cuttings, but they are also struggling. Just keeping an eye on it and hoping it recovers. How are your plants outside coping with the current cold weather?
I've been a silent viewer but I'm also new to your channel. I love your plants! Have you seen plantsbymelissa's moss poles? They are beautiful, like yours. In my opinion, she is the moss pole Queen 👑 and you are the moss pole King 👑. By the way, I love your cat...so cute🥰😊
I didn't even last a full season with my Verrucosum on tree fern aroid pole because of the mess. With only 3 leggy stems, looks like i have some work to do now 😁
I’ve watched so many chop and extends of yours, this time I learned the verricosum has long internodes so plant multiples! Thanks Jan! You shoulda seen Brad! When you said to entertain us while you went to get a pot? He juggled, did a contortion act! It was amazing! But then he started eating the dried display you had beside you, so I wonder about him Can’t wait to see a trailing verricosum! Show us later?
I love your channel!! Because of you, my home starts to look like a jungle😂😄😄 and i also found a plantfriend who‘s gonna give me a real Obliqua Peru!! Thank you!!
I thought I had Christoph Waltz' Hans Landa from Inglorious Basterds talking about moss poles and cable ties at 18:50 😅 great video, I love watching your content while I do plant chores myself!
I am curious to how it would be to layer both mediums in the pole. Such as having a compost mix as the first layer by the gray segment, and then placing the moss on top, before closing the mesh-wire on top with zip ties (Filling it laying horizontally of course, before turning it, possibly close the ends with moss as well?). I feel like that would hold moisture, give an anchor, additional nutrition, and might be easier than stuffing it with a stick? Just some plant food for thought!
I love your show so much!!!! Your down to earth manner and practical teaching skills are such a delight. BTW, why don't you check out Great White. It may help the scraggly roots. It's not hormones, rather natural things that are symbiotic with roots....like in nature.
As always, great video. What's your secret for training Brad NOT to eat your plants? I will be getting kittens soon, but I have tons of plants. Thank you
Bonne pousse ! 🍀
it's hard to make this plant thrive in Jakarta Condition (temperature between 28-30 deegrees celcius) even tho the humidity is between 75-80% RH. it's really consider to thrive in cooler area in Indonesia.
Jan, you sound just like Severus Snape at 15:23. 😂 Another great video, and beeauuttiful plant. How much would you charge for a plant the size of the final cut?
I'm curious, what is your average humidity indoors? Verrucosum are particularly unhappy in my home, even with added humidity (average 50%-60% with humidifier.)
I'm from Indonesia and I'm new to plants, still learning, asking for information on a good medium for anthurium plants, what kind of medium is the best medium..
i can´t find the backside of my philodendron verrucosum it has 4 leafs now which all goes in a different direction. i don´t know where to attach the moos pole
It drives me crazy that this plant climbs so quickly and loses its lower leaves as it climbs. I ended up with 3 gorgeous leaves on a stick. I propogated it & planted it back on the main moss pole but it just wouldn't take. I'd love to try again seeing yours but....😢
Does your kitty attack your plants? We have 3 lil fur babies, and it's nearly impossible to keep them from eating our houseplants and puking everywhere...

I’ll check him out :)
I've seen videos of his collection, awe inspiring!! Truly a feast for the eyes
Know him because legends of monstera / Jimmy, anyone know what happend to Jimmy?
I been getting as much information as I can, when I live in Guatemala, I don't what was so easy to grow everything, and here in California is so hard

I love seeing Brad keep you company. 😻😺😽
He’s such a good supervisor!
I love how Brad's human shows up, but his human needs to realise this is a cat video.
I love these types of videos that only you and OnlyPlants do! It's soo cool to see the plants journey after several months ❤
Thank you:)

Lot's of good info there, thanks Jan. You've convinced me to have one last try of this bloody sexy plant.

Looking forward to the next chapter.
Thanks :)
Did I miss how to make this new pole of yours? Looks sturdy and very functional!
I love that Brad was keeping you company sitting so close to you as you worked. Can’t wait to see if the Veracosum ends up trailing. Great video❤
We’ find out :) thank you!!
@@sydneyplantguy any updates yet on whether the veras have rooted or not? 😅
Its such a beautiful and tall Philo :)

What a great video. I learn so much.
Great to hear :)

Definitely possible to do :) but I prefer just moss :) cleaner to work with
So gorgeous 😍😍😍
Danke für dein Video! Welches Material nimmt du für die Rückseite des Moospoles?
There's a verrocossum mini that has small leaves that don't size up that is grown trailing
Sorry can I ask what the fertilizer you use for all of your nice plants?
I love your show so much!!!! Your down to earth manner and practical teaching skills are such a delight.
BTW, why don't you check out Great White. It may help the scraggly roots. It's not hormones, rather natural things that are symbiotic with roots....like in nature.
Thank you:)
The 2 plants I really struggle with... Philodendron Verrucosum and Florida Ghost. Maybe I'll try one more time using this knowledge
Verrus are definitely worth it 🫣 good luck :)
@sydneyplantguy yeah, it will be round 3. lol, 3rd time lucky 🤞
brad did a faboulus job entertaining everybody while you were grabbing a pot!
He’s an invaluable member of the team!!
Tolle Videos!
As always, great video. What's your secret for training Brad NOT to eat your plants? I will be getting kittens soon, but I have tons of plants. Thank you
I didn’t train him at all :) he’s just not interested :)
I definitely have some major verrucosum envy right now. You are 100% on point that plant is so sexy. Loved the video and Brad is sooooo cute.
Thank you:)
I love all your plants. Can you please tell me where did you get your pole? I'm new to plants
It’s from Grow Vertical, linked in the description :)

Its a natural climber.
I want to make it trail, like a lush pot of pothos :)
@@sydneyplantguy Ambitieux ! 🍀
great video!!
Thanks :)
I just got a verrucosum plant yesterday and it’s struggling. I woke up to wilted leaves. Someone help! 😢
❤ That pot seems really small, how doesn’t it not fall? 😊
I put it in a heavy decorative planter :)

i can´t find the backside of my philodendron verrucosum it has 4 leafs now which all goes in a different direction.
i don´t know where to attach the moos pole
There is no backside, the plant will grow roots 360 degrees around the node so just choose one :)
@@sydneyplantguy thank you, I thought it´s like with the Monsteras :)
If theres one thing we know, SPG will not try to fix something that is not broken
Exactly 😅😅
❤❤

Yes it’s definitely a high effort plant … plant as many as possible :)
Does your kitty attack your plants? We have 3 lil fur babies, and it's nearly impossible to keep them from eating our houseplants and puking everywhere...
Only when he wants my attention! I’m pretty lucky !
😍😍

what kind of plastic do you use to make this moss pole?

Does this also work with monstera deliciosa?
Yes :) I have documented that on my channel before with a Monstera deliciosa :)
u look handsome ❤

Crushed perlite?! On ur knee
I think so :D
The poor cat always wondering why you talk to yourself a lot ☺
Haha he’s like ‘shut up, i wanna nap’
For your prop box, how often do you open it for fresh air or do you? Also do you use the box for quarantine?
I usually just leave a little gap open at all times :) no I don’t :)
i’ve got a splendid that i’ve just started trailing 🪴
Any nice ?:)
