    Ah yea, those are fun. For anyone reading. Long 1/4” extension, swivel, and short 7 or 8mm socket (I forget which). Come from the bottom, have a friend up top to keep it on the hose clamp. I’ve done it by myself, it can definitely be a pain.

    I have to admit, my fmic and snabb intake did wonders for no heat soak! I built my own intake system pipes and used a "standard" intercooler. And that damn hose clamp on the turbo inlet... oh that summbich!!! I thought it was just mine rotated... sounds like a Volvo "feature"...

    Make sure the cam sensor wires, specifically the back one on the exhaust cam. The bigger intake can rub that wiring, as I found on my project S60R that came with the SNABB intake.

    i've made custom intakes before and done various maintenance and messing around with my T5 where I had to remove the intake..easiest way for future reference is to remove the heat shield off the turbo and downpipe and then you can easily remove the intake hose clamp if you come at it from he right side of he car and bend over laying across your coolant resovoir.....I never reinstalled the heat shield back because it's unnecessary and just gets in the way but just make sure you install the clamp back with the nut facing up and somewhat forward that way its much easier to get off in the future also using a flat head is harder than if you were to use a small 8 or 7mm socket...can't remember which size off the top of my head...also may be a little harder since you have k24 but then again I have a bigger aftermarket wastegate so idk

    The hard to reach bolt near the firewall takes a flathead screwdiriver OR a 7mm socket will work also. Once you figure out that most of the hose clamps on this engine are 7mm it's a game changer

    Make sure that the intake clamps aren't coming into contact with the ABS lines. Or just cut up some vacuum lines and slide them over the ABS lines.
    If they are contacting(or close), the clamps will wear through the ABS lines from the vibrations.

  • @jcarlson101
    @jcarlson101 5 років тому

    There is a weather seal at the top of the engine bay sealing the hood that you can remove or replace in half a second. Without it you can more easily hear the intake, turbo spool, and blowoff/recirculating valve. Enjoy!
    Also, I have a 2005 S60R Sedan in the exact color combo which I purchased in 2007 from NJ because that was the only place I could find with that color combo at the time. Loving the upgrade progression, but currently having upgrade and V70R envy!
    I recommend keeping the current wheels as your "racing" wheels. Pegs are iconic, but heavy! 26-28lbs each!! I opted for OZ Racing Ultraleggera 18s which are 18lbs each. 40lbs of rotational weight gone!

    • @johno9507
      @johno9507 2 роки тому

      The problem with removing the weather seal at the back of the hood is it allows engine bay air to be drawn into the cabin vents, this might not be a problem but if there is an exhaust leak you risk carbon monoxide (which you can't smell) poisoning.
      This is why light aircraft have carbon monoxide detection stickers in the cabin.

      I know I'm 3 years late but for anyone reading this, usually it's smart to buy a mostly stock SR/VR. Check the PCV and look for vaccum leaks. If you can, bring VIDA and a DICE scanner with you, it'll allow you to see if there are any sneaky problems with the vehicle. Owning a P2R essentially requires a DICE unit and VIDA at some point, so look into getting them if you haven't already. VIDA is one of the only ways to diagnose issues involving SUM (4C) and DEM (Haldex AOC AWD Differential)

      Probably some sort of Garrett or Borg Warner. No hybrid. Would like 400 crank for the M3 challenge, but after that car is vanquished, I’d like to go bigger power. Hence the larger turbo. Have yet to dive into specific turbos, but those are the companies I’m shooting for.

      Chassis settings service. I have BC coilovers on this car and that error is persistent. Nothing of any concern.

      @@ShiftingLanes ah I see, unique to R's then :p I got coilovers as well, but the reason I asked (thx for answering), is because I have a S60 T5, with custom intake + exhaust, and I've been having lots of issues with slow, irregular, shaky starts. After seeing this I think the previous owner who installed it might not have tuned it correctly or at all after installation, which could be the reason why the engine starts are so irregular.. it seems to run fine after starting though.

      Yea you need to find out what tune is on there or if they tuned to at all. Also check the MAF wiring for proper installation/no rubbing or expose wires. Also check for any hoses that have blown off.

      @@ShiftingLanes Any idea what a tunershop would charge for checking those things? ^^

      Honestly no. I’d get in touch with a known Volvo expert. Can recommend Hilton Tuning and Contrastworks. They can help and get you setup properly.

    Intakes are the biggest bunch of shit and add no performance unless the car is always being driven hard.
