The best thing about playing mortal kombat in the arcades during the 90s was the feeling of when you had somebody challenge you and a whole crowd of people standing around watching the fight then beating them and ending it with a fatality was so satisfying haha
Yesss! When MK2 came out, everyone was stunned and mystified simultaneously. The blood and sheer in your face violence took it to another level. Mk3 just put the icing on the cake with the run button. Im getting this UPDATE: 11/3/2021 I picked up a used but, well taken care of arcade 1up for a decent price on OfferUp. Life is excellent !!
I restored a KI and threw MAME in it. These new monitors suck for old games imo, Playing on original CRT makes these games look better and smooths out all the jags.

Looks great! The first time I saw MKII was at our local skating rink. Giant crowd of everyone on skates gathered around the cabinet - I have a vivid memory of the first thing I saw when I rounded the corner to get a view of it.....Kitana falling to the bottom of the pit. Man, what a time.
That's a good tip...when you buy one of these, flip over the control panel (joystick/button panel) and make sure all the connectors are plugged in well. Also before you put the whole thing together, turn on the LCD screen and the game and make sure it works and looks good and make sure the joystick/buttons work.

They want you to buy their replacement parts, which are made to break, to keep the more expensive parts from getting harmed.
I have an original MK2 arcade machine. It was probably the one arcade machine I pumped the most about of money into back in the 90's arcades. I figured it's only fitting to own the damn thing for real. :)

I bought three of these cabinets on the same day last year. In three days, every one of them went back to their point of purchase for various reasons. This video speaks for itself. "Sub-Zero won't throw his ice-ball, but then I realized that the 'down' direction wasn't working at all. Luckily, I remembered that this was a recurring problem and knew that sometimes you have to rewire the controls myself." If you need to do maintenance on a machine immediately after you buy it, you're not dealing with a quality product. Every game that 1up features in their cabinets is available in a cheaper, better way, unless you're addicted to old school controls which, as stated before, don't always work.

The original game's resolution was 400x254 @54.7HZ. So my question is: What is the resolution and refresh rate of that monitor on the Arcade1Up machine? If it's too high resolution then you would need HLSL settings to smoothen out the jaggies from the upscaling. If it's too high of a refresh rate then the gameplay could have visual artifacts on flashes, jumpy scrolling, possible screen tears, and issues with frame rates and frame data.
Of all the current cabinets so far, this is the best of them by far. I cannot wait for the X-men and Simpsons cabinet arcade ones. Maybe they'll also include streeter fighter alpha cabinets as well as marvel vs street fighter and marvel vs capcom 1 & 2.
Just got MK2 for Christmas. I dig it except for the graphics. Do you know of any software upgrade to get this not so damn lo res? They are worse than the Genesis version. I put it all together and fired it up and my heart sank. I can deal with the small size cabinet and less than stellar joystick but those graphics. I don’t understand with modern tech why they couldn’t be better.

Is the RGT 85 Arcade in the same plaza as the Cinemassacre Video and Caldor? Also, MKII, MK3, and UK3 have a dip switch inside that affects the IN game volume so even if you change the machine's volume, the game might not sound AS loud as you want it.

I have an MK2 1up and the cabinet looks great! I was a bit disappointed in the graphics thought. 1up watered it down. I know this because they looked more pixelated. I moded my cabinet for mame and the original rom simulation looked way better! I figured out that 1up used a 16 bit board like they did for the previous games and had to make it work for the 32 bit MK games. Pretty cheap move on their end.
No disrespect but a lot of reviewers who have access to the Arcade1up Mortal Kombat cabinet who claims they were a big fan but don’t know any of the special moves or “Fatalities”...why?? Just sayin.
Got one in north central Ohio yesterday. Didn't get a change to put it together until this morning but I'm VERY happy with it. My biggest concern was the controls but they absolutely knocked it out of the park with this one.

Is the RGT 85 Arcade in the same plaza as the Cinemassacre Video and Caldor? Also, MKII, MK3, and UK3 have a dip switch inside that affects the IN game volume so even if you change the machine's volume, the game might not sound AS loud as you want it.

I have an MK2 1up and the cabinet looks great! I was a bit disappointed in the graphics thought. 1up watered it down. I know this because they looked more pixelated. I moded my cabinet for mame and the original rom simulation looked way better! I figured out that 1up used a 16 bit board like they did for the previous games and had to make it work for the 32 bit MK games. Pretty cheap move on their end.
No disrespect but a lot of reviewers who have access to the Arcade1up Mortal Kombat cabinet who claims they were a big fan but don’t know any of the special moves or “Fatalities”...why?? Just sayin.
Maybe coz the game is over 25 years old...

Got one in north central Ohio yesterday. Didn't get a change to put it together until this morning but I'm VERY happy with it. My biggest concern was the controls but they absolutely knocked it out of the park with this one.
