Me and my buddies had a lot of issues with our KTM super adventure 2021/2022 : misfire issue, cooling liquid leakage, clutch issues, fuel leakage and a LOT of electronic errors. But the most frustrating thing was the lack of support from KTM. Buying the KTM felt like like a scam for me. One year with the bike in service and no one to speak with from KTM and dealership. they totally ignored me. Lost one year of warranty which no one is willing to extend, and a bike with a poor service history that is hard to sell... Wasted 20000 euros for a bucket of bolts....

Thanks for your initial review Bob. I agree with the paint as I also prefer the blue and orange from the previous generation. However, I think KTM are mindful of this and will add this option in 2025. I also prefer the look of the updated headlight assembly and its functionality and can’t wait to see one up close. I also like the reduced bar height which should allow for better rider’s connection to the front wheel.
And this is with Euro5 Emissions. Uncorked (flash & slip-on) I bet this thing makes atleast 210-215hp. And I wondered when that Holeshot device from MotoGP would make it to the streetbikes. Thank you KTM & WP. I want one
Did you know that KTM gives you a puppy for each bike that you buy ? So that you have something to play with when the bike is constantly in service for repairs :))
The headlight looks futuristic but sans glass cover, it can accumulate lot of dust and dirt inside of that cavities, makes the projectors to be cleaned often.....a bad idea 😢
the 1390 is in the middle of the pack on HP but it's got 22nm of torque more than 2nd place.. & i wouldn't be surprised you can squeeze a few more hp or atleast shift the power curve around the rpm a bit with exhaust, de-emission, & ecu tuning.
The visual distinction between the R and the R Evo is subtle yet obvious, once you've seen it: blue rings instead of red ones on the forks, and no preload knob at the rear (duh). It has been like that since the first Evo was released. Two years ago. And you are the one with the PDF...

WOW - love it! Just hope they also work on the design of the GT version. The current one is just horrible to look at. I can say that cuz I have one (well, a gen1)… Don’t see myself riding around on a naked bike, so a better looking GT would be a great update that I would want to buy. Otherwise not for me.
The looks aren't for me, but I have to give KTM props for doing something different and really pushing their unique design language (looking at you, Honda Streetfi- um, CB1000)
The fact that its gonna make more torque than the supercharged H2 is insane and should have Kawasaki worried, shows that Ktm is the baddest when it comes to naked bikes. Its not about HP, if you want HP buy a super sport. If you want torque, buy a KTM🤙🏼
Hi Bob not sure you used the BMW shift cam Tec in the beginning Then only graphed the S1000r without it should have used the M1000r with 205 hp at 13,000 rpm and 83 lb-ft at 11,100 rpm apart from that good video
I just picked up my 2nd Gen 3 with the £3k off and 4yr warranty knowing this was coming and no regrets. Some nice updates for when i swap in a couple of years and i hope they'll be another colour option by then.

I have owned 2 gen 1 1290r, didn’t like the gen 2, contemplated buying the gen 3 but didn’t, but this one, oh yes, there is nothing on this new one I don’t like, fantastic machine, can’t wait to take one out for a test ride.
The list that shows hp ranking also shows its torque figures. For the KTM its 145Nm, which is highest of the lot. 😮
at the lowest rpm no less!
I completely agree that the blue and orange is the best colour SDR ever.
I’m a big fan of the new headlight, KTM definitely set themselves apart with the design profile but many will appreciate it myself included.

Yep, my 2023 SDR-EVO does not like the KTM Akra exhaust map. All kinds of TFT failures.

The headlight design has really grown on me. It fits the character of the Duke. Overall changes is great improvements in my book.
