- Today I'm unboxing , reviewing and assembling a brand NEW 2024 KTM 1390 Super Duke R EVO in black. From getting it out the crate , to mounting all the extra parts , talking about some new things like the suspension and shiftcam technology. First start and ride as well. Also pulling a small wheelie to make sure it's run in well :-)/

i love this bike but in india KTM is a very underrated bike because of some so called worst riders but one day i will import this bike to india its my dream 🙂🙂

I’ve always lusted after the KTM Big Duke, for me it’s the ultimate bike… except my 2nd gen FZ1 is about to have its 100k mi anniversary and I can’t imagine the reliability being ANYWHERE comparable to this rolling gremlin. .
Congrats, I had the first gen FZ1, my second favorite bike I’ve ever owned.
if you don't want potential headaches, I would stay away from KTMs (I unfortunately had to find out the hard way)
My 2020 SDR has been great. No major issues. Best bike I’ve owned yet. Should be a good deal on gen 3’s now.

I like it too. Matte black however is a problem for me, once you scratch it slightly you’re fucked
As I would say that ktm designs even after 6+ years after release will look fresh and futuristic the 2015 duke's are prime example they still look fresh today

I started my KTM adventure with a '17 GT and put about 25k miles and then to a '20 GT that I put about 33k miles. It was written off and without a true Gen 3 GT, I got a '23 R Evo that I have about 4500 miles on and it is an amazing bike. If this is a hint at the '25 GT...I will go back in a heartbeat!

You seem to be one of the first to get your hands on this bike. I've had a look at the orange one in the shop a few days ago. I can't wait for the full review, and to get your feeling about the benefits of the cam shifting technology on this torque monster. I must say, I enjoy a 1290 SAS daily, but the increase in tank capacity and the appeal of the new engine make the SDR Evo really, really appealing. But the price...
EVO will be so much harder to ride as your SAS. But with the new suspension that might change a lot...we are waiting for license plates so I can ride it. This one was the first in the country by the way. And most of them come in iron racks , I got lucky this one was in a box 😅

That’s the first thing I thought when I saw that front, no fun cleaning the bugs off. My gen 3 is easy to clean. 5 min wipe down, I’m on the road.
But there is the intake behind it😢

Damn brother. You got it faster than pro journos 👍 lots of good upgrades. Keyless rear seat opening is awesome to see after they did it on SA. I got so tired of flipping the key every time, I drilled a hole and had a mechanical pull cable to open the darn storage under the seat. I want SDGT, but since I am currently dukeless don’t know if I can wait it out and not succumb to the temptation of getting an R again. Although they are not in the USA yet anyway.
I'm taking over the classic pro journos , some of them already hate my guts in my country just because I get more views on my socials. Some even talk bad about me with brands I'm not working with yet and so on. I'm just doing my own thing minding my own business , not hating on anybody but damn it's a struggle to work myself up sometimes with certain brands 😂

I have only used inline 4 cylinder Japanese bicycles before. How is the Suzuki KTM V2 engine in terms of vibration?
Thanks for this, Smokey. When you do your review on the bike, can you go deep in depth to the various modes? Especially the wheelie and pro start mode.
The factory start and suspension....dude it's freaking rocket science 😂. The amount of settings and what it can do is over the top. But when it has plates , will take some time I will ride it asap and talk about it 😁👌
You could do some video just about this new wheelie mode and show how does it work on each of 5 levels of wheelie control. That would be sweet 😎👍🏻

It's a brand called Cochet , it's French. I had everything painted in black and put Brabus wheels underneath it that cost more as the trailer itself 😅🙈

I'm strongly considering one of these as my next bike, looks like a good upgrade from my 636. I haven't really been vibing with inline 4s, so I'm thinking a massive twin is the move.
Hopefully they aren't too expensive once they finally arrive in the states 😬
This LC8 twin is tops in my book. I have the gen 3. The tourqe is something else. You can have so much fun without revving it to the moon.
Definitely a big step up. It'll wheelie the first 3 gears easy unless you have wheelie control on.
I love the sound of a good 4 in line high revving engine. But I love coming out a corner in 3rd gear and that beast LC8 engine just picking up the front wheel like it's nothing on low rpm's 😁
@@LifeofSmokey I also love the sound, but you really have to work hard to get to the power. Fine on twisty roads, but annoying on city streets. And the 600 body position is awful after more than 30 minutes non stop for me 😬 I knew the compromises when I bought it though.
$21,500 base price in the US. See the Evo will be the only option for 2024 too.
0:40 imagine what a repair cost that would have been if it really would have been that super dukey inside that box 😶😬and the next thing would be KTM themselves calling to uncle smokey about not opening the box peacefully 🙄🤣 and it's hard to say if im more of a cat or dog person i love both of em' 👍 it would also be really cool seeing smokey driving this 1390 beast on a track somewhere.
How is the catalytic converter Is it Euro 6 Do you think it will over heat !

good video bud do you have to pay extra for the quick shifter and slide assist and all the other things, I notice Demo at the top dose that mean it turns off at first service ????????????
There is an optional race software package yeah. Quickshifter is stock 🙂

Both....it's personal preference. They are both top notch to ride and I love them both. I'm very used to the LC8 engine so for me the KTM would win just for the engine 😅. But the V4 also nuts!
That doesn’t help at all Smokey lol😂 yes, you’re right excellent engine. Gen4 much more usable with the electronics (wheelie control) . Still though I’m fascinated by v4 engines. Seem the best of both worlds- v2 and inline4
