That was the funniest line in this episode for me, and it was enough; I didn't need that cup of tea moment.
I can imagine all the Darleks screaming awake and driving into each other after dreaming the doctor is their new leader

@Al Capaldi is literally considered to have some of the most acclaimed episodes and Series of NewWho (Series 9). I don’t understand people claiming he had poor writing.
@Al I disagree. Series 9 is considered the strongest series as a whole. Series 8 had a few clunkers but was an improvement on Series 7 & Series 9 had maybe one bad episode, Series 10 is a pure mix of old school and new school.

Its not supposed to go that fast. Peter Capaldi thought it would be cooler if it went faster, so they modified it. (We can assume, in universe, the Doctor just used his sonic on it)

He's half way to being a full Dalek. Now he just needs the other half.

9 was haunted by his past. 10 was struggling in life. 11 was facing his problems and moving past them. 12 is the culmination of the efforts of his past lives. He's able to "face the music". Lives a joke, so we must enjoy it!
Also, don't forget that the First Doctor once hid inside an empty Dalek casing and had some fun impersonating the voice while he was at it.

All the comments are going on about the Doctor's lines, but my favourite part of this whole episode was Missy nonchalantly shoving Clara into a potentially bottomless pit.
And then concluding that it it 20 feet’s deep

Definitely, the Daleks have tried to exterminate Davros on numerous occasions, sure they've ended up going back to him for useful tricks and such... but he has to survive the extermination attempt in the first place for that to be possible

The dalek sewers is just about the most horrifying concept ever.
It's presented a bit too comedically to really have the full impact.

Fishkeeper63 It neither made sense(those living Daleks wouldn't have brains anymore if they were just mush nor would they be able to scream since they're not hooked up to anything. They'd be vegetable) nor was used to any good effect. At least from my perspective.

You just see from this that playing the Doctor wasn’t a Job for Capaldi, it was him playing out his childhood fantasies. 50-50 that stealing Davros’s chair was Peter literally just stealing the chair and appearing on set in it, thus they wrote it into the episode 😂

+William Norton Learned his lesson from when they tried to kill him only an hour after being created.
You have to admit, it's really rather wild that the Doctor and Missy do not show fear to the Daleks. Both of them are smart enough to outwit the Daleks, with varying methods of reaction. For MIssy, it's rampant dismissal and mockery. For the Doctor, it's a display of dominance and an olive branch. This vicious race of monsters, made inferior by two sides of the same Time Lord coin.
It does ruin them as adversaries to fear.

The Master had a get out of jail free card, the Doctor had a force field purpose built to block their guns, and in both cases, now that Gallifrey had been saved using a weird timeloop and spacetime hiding, all they had to fear of them is the base, and again, they had effectively eliminated that base risk, leaving them with only one thing "which way do I play my hand to maximize my odds?" In both cases, bravado and quips were a large part of how they decided to react. They're still dangerous, sure, but that danger had been temporarily removed, and after that long having to fear them at every encounter, I have to imagine it felt pretty freaking good to be in a position to do nothing but laugh and belittle them.

"The Doctor does not use weapons." Um... yeah, that can be easily disproven by looking through the classic series.
Yup. Lemme think: the Fourth Doctor zapped a Sontaran with a De-Mat blaster, the Sixth Doctor straight up shot a Cyberman in self defence and didn't the First Doctor try to cave someone's head in with a rock at some point? Just to name a few examples. The only Doctor who I can think of that DIDN'T use weapons is Five, and you could probably prove me wrong there.

If there's one thing I will miss from Moffat's era is Michelle Gomez's utterly insane portrayal of the Master.
She was just amazing, shame the crazy bit got dropped a bit in Series 10 but these 2 episodes showed her at her best when it came to comedic timing and all
They brought the same villains back over and over. I would have rather seen her as The Raini. The Raini really was a female Time Lord.
12 finally tapped into the Smith/Tennant well of eccentricity. Hell, I think he surpassed it. I could NOT see either of them in Davros' chair.

Sometimes the old incarnations of the Doctor speak through the current incarnation...I almost bet every single one of them was getting a kick out of finally sitting in Davros's chair for the first time in history and all wanted to say a piece of their mind! That in itself, was brilliant :3

As much as I wasn't the biggest fan of the story, this moment definitely made me smile. Something about Peter Capaldi's delivery of 'Conclusion: I'm definitely having his chair' just ticks so wonderfully :)

I think that "something" you're looking for is the fact that even after all these billions of years of time and space conquering, Davros got one last consequence; getting his chair taken away.
These two episodes have some amazing scenes, intermixed with awful writing tbh. It's almost surreal how they manage to go from ridiculous lines, to some really interesting development between Davros, and the Doctor, which leaves you wondering just how much of it really was manipulation. It's like watching a weird splice of Sherlock Holmes, and The Room lol

Also it's the best version of: "Because I'm Batman!" And it fits because both Batman and The Doctor (by *this* point in their time stream, at least) are far too old to take bullshit and have been at this shit for so long, that most enemies would rather run than fight against them.
So maybe Davros had a tea button built in. So what. Why do I even care where he got a cup of tea? It's trivial.

Shadow Walker Because while Brits like to make fun of us Americans for using the imperial system, they occasionally use it themselves in informal speech. For instance, they might say "But that's miles away!" or, like Missy does here, describe a length or a distance in feet rather than meters.

I didn't think Series 9 sucked, but the finale really scuppered the story arc for me. There was also an overt focus on meta comedy, especially in these first two episodes, so I couldn't take most of it seriously. If I ever want to have a laugh whilst watching Doctor Who, I can always put Series 9 on, but valuable, high drama? No.

This Doctor knows exactly what action to take against the Daleks. Rolling around in Davros' chair and pointing a Dalek gun. That just scares the Daleks to death.

Damn, the Doctor really pulled Davros out of his wheelchair and then proceeded to STEAL it. This is terrible for disabled people.
This is one of those episodes that also highlights how amazing Missy was. Hopefully we get a retcon that lets her come back. The fact that there was some actual potential for 12 and Missy to have at least a few episodes of genuine companionship was a completely lost opportunity.

@@Lego3400 Brits tend to use Imperial measurements when we're trying to estimate, whereas we'll use metric for official measurements. It's a lot easier to estimate 1ft, than 1 metre.

This is the scene that got me into Doctor Who: for years I was convinced I had no interest in the show, and then I glanced over at the TV when this was on and Capaldi was so brilliant I couldn't look away for the rest of the episode. He's had me hooked ever since, favourite Doctor by far.
+Pedro Guzman It was brilliant. I went back and watched Series 8 as well and absolutely loved it, and since then I've watched a fair bit of Series 1-7 as well. Capaldi will always be my favourite but I like the other Doctors and I really enjoy Donna (who doesn't?)
+Zim Zam Series 8 is probably the weakest of the show. Capaldi has overseen the worst and best seasons in my opinion. Series 8 holds more value now that Series 9 is around, but when 8 aired, it wasn't nearly as good as the 7 series before it. The show is fantastic from the 9th all the way to the 12th. Make sure to watch the whole thing.
+DanXile Yep, I'm working my way through it, it's great fun - and you know, I actually love Series 8. Mummy on the Orient Express, Listen, Time Heist and Flatline are especially brilliant.
The only one I disliked was Kill the Moon, and to be honest, I don't like Peter Harness's Zygon episodes much either. I don't think he gets 12: he writes him with 10's tormented God-complex and 11's flirty goofy humour, and to me it just doesn't work.
12 is great because he isn't trying to be funny: he just doesn't have any social skills. I like him because he doesn't care what people think of him, and there's a sort of humility in that.
Thank you for thinking Peter Calpdi is the best. Most say David Tennant is not saying I hate him he is just not my favourite
