Iowa is known for two things: cornfields and Slipknot. Corey Taylor is an incredible singer and musician. If I'm not mistaken, this is the same concert where he was booed (jokingly) for not playing the Spongebob Squarepants theme song and he basically rolled his eyes and sang it, and the crowd went nuts. It was hilarious and you could tell he enjoyed it. Great guy.

I'm from England and I was driving through Iowa one day on my travels when my car broke down. The recovery guy picked me up, took me into town, and then disappeared for a while. It turns out he was also the fireman, and I suspect he wrote the towns sports page.
@@andycopland3179 Haha, yeah I've been through Iowa twice, and it was basically pockets of civilization (granted I didn't go through any major cities like Des Moines) interrupting corn. Really pretty though. Then again, I'm from West Virginia. We have the isolated community thing going pretty hard, but it's like some weird Alice in Wonderland vertigo effect when we see flat land. All things considered, the guy that picked you up was probably the mayor as well.

Nope, it's all about the emotions. The lyrics are just the medium used to convey the emotions.
Innamusic, the pain he's feeling singing this song is different from the pain he felt when writing the song.
This song was originally written about a Woman who Corey loved but he felt didn't love him back. The pain he feels now when singing this song is the pain of his close friend and band member dying, and how the lyrics also apply to his death.
The guy in the crowd at 5:40 into the video nails that ooh oh. It's a tough song for Corey to get through and that dude has his back!
Corey is one of the most amazing people in music. And this song hits every time.
Corey Taylor is the hardest working man in music today period. He writes and tours with Slipknot, as well his other band Stonesour, as well as doing intimate shows such as this one. He also does some promotional work and works as a producer for lesser known bands/musicians. Legend has it the man never sleeps lol. I've also had the privilege of meeting him when he was helping a band I used to play for get on track for a tour we were trying to out together. Down to earth, humble, kind, and all around just a good man.
I've met him during a festival in an event where he was signing autographs, such a nice looking man, he took the time to exchange a few words with everyone. I'll always remember those few seconds of talking to him and telling him "You're awesome man", to which he responded "No, YOU'RE awesome !"
Not for a while bro. Stone Sour are no more. Well at least Corey said he has no intention of doing anything with Stone Sour in the near future.
lol We have one of those in Québec, his name is Gregory Charles. He never stops.
He did shows where people wrote artists names and song titles, and he would pick random ones and perform them on stage. It's like he knows the music and lyrics of all songs by heart.

This was performed after the loss of a fellow Slipknot band member to addiction. I do suggest the actual music video, its profound, but it gives you a different perspective of what the song is really about. I think Corey is a brilliant lyricist. My all time favorite Corey/Slipknot/Stone Sour song is Zzyzx Rd. That song just gets me

Slipknot *was* the side project in the beginning, but once Slipknot became more popular and profitable, Slipknot became the main focus and Stone Sour became the bit in the side.
Same for Joey. He was in a band called The Rejects (which later went on to become called Murderdolls). Joey was in The Rejects before he joined Slipknot. Slipknot blew up and The Rejects didn't. Joey didn't leave The Rejects/Murderdolls, but Slipknot came first.
Same with Corey and Stone Sour. I understand what you're saying, but it doesn't really work like that. A side project is the thing on the side that you don't devote as much time/money/energy to as your main project. Slipknot *was* the side project is 100% more accurate than Slipknot *is* the side project.

Hate to crap anyone's jam as music is sacred & may yours Bless you, but Corey doing this solo crap ruined Slipknot forever for me! Might as well have Slayer break out a banjo & put on cowboy boots & hat & pop off some Garth Brooks in middle of set! He could've done anything anonymously & got his little solo guitar player kicks every stop on every tour if wanted & would've gotten an HONEST reaction with no one being the wiser he was masked serial killer Thrasher! I mean, I only heard their 1st big album when came out & was psyched maybe something actually kinda new & interesting, being that Metallica was nothing special when broke big, nor Nirvana if knew any underground Thrash at all! But 2 friends who caught their sets after 1st big album said they sucked live. I've seen videos where they rocked tf out, so guess it was because of seeing at a festival before headliners, but once another friend who was a big fan showed me Corey trying to play fukn Pink Floyd I couldn't take them seriously anymore if my life depended on it! Oh well, sucks for me & irks tf out of me as can tell. I said fuk em all by late '90's & dug into the real mofos, Bob Dylan, Leonard Cohen, Willie Nelson😂, anything but fukn "Nu Metal" bs! SMGDMFH! To each their own!

Corey playing this live solo version has nothing to do with Slipknot! If it was on one of their albums I'd understand you point, but it's not. The album version of this song is 100% Slipknot!

Here's another piece of information that might shock you - when Corey decided that he wanted to write/play this version, he didn't GAF what you thought of it! I know, I know, it's hard to believe.
