In a conversation such generalizations make it easier and shorten the sentences, i don't want to describe and explain everything and then go in its context, leave that for science/your job/school, NOT your everyday life....

Many people mistakenly assume since they share the same gender/profession/stage in life with whatever is being discussed they somehow have some sort of authority to speak on the matter, and they simply don't.
