Back when I played Factorio, I started to refer to the process of removing trees with a vehicle "bumperjacking." It was faster than chopping but you didn't get the wood to use for crafting or fuel. 4:48 Why not offer this feature as an option in gameplay or performance settings? This leaves the choice to the player and allows him to activate it only when he needs to clear an area.
Related to optimization: I noticed that DX11 is being marked as deprecated in the most recent update. However, it seems that DX11 performs *significantly* better than DX12 on my GTX 1060, which is kinda older hardware. I get like 10-15 fps on DX12 on the same settings that I get close to 60 fps on DX11. I hope that you don't drop support for DX11 in the future.
I'm so incredibly hyped for 1.0 !!! Been waiting to start my first mega factory but I can't get myself to do it in U8 considering how close 1.0 is. Well done CSS. Snutt, love what you're doing!
Thank you so much for the constant updates on the working status of 1.0. Normally studios go dark after announcing 1.0 and then go tight lipped about the status so they aren't held accountable for a time line.
Quite ready and excited about v1, used to pick up sum flowers on strolls looking for slugs, but after finally choosing to automate ammo production some old habits may change after watching they will be gone :) Offroading about in biomes and hitting often to a stop can be disappointing. Great work !
Really the only time I find the game to be laggy or buggy is in multiplayer. I would hope that there are some improvments coming there. Great video Snutt, can wait for more!
Hell yeah! so excited for 1.0! Pretty much stopped playing as my big save was grinding to a halt with the factories at about 97% complete, framerate dipping below 20 and waiting a few minutes for each auto save was killing the enjoyment. I use manifolds for everything, so chunking up belt mechanics and pushing more compute to GPU should see a great improvement. Not to mention the massive frame drops while hyperlooping across the map will be great when they are reduced.
I love the depth you guys go into. Very few dev teams say so much about the inner workings. It probably helps dispel conspiracies about how the game works.

Sounds great. Appreciate the communication
Gotta get that release date out - I need to know when to put in my 2 weeks notice!!
Thank you so much for the constant updates on the working status of 1.0. Normally studios go dark after announcing 1.0 and then go tight lipped about the status so they aren't held accountable for a time line.
That thumbnail is a BMW cluster and i love it.
As a smol indie developer this information is insanely valuable! Thanks for sharing Snutt
Quite ready and excited about v1, used to pick up sum flowers on strolls looking for slugs, but after finally choosing to automate ammo production some old habits may change after watching they will be gone :) Offroading about in biomes and hitting often to a stop can be disappointing. Great work !
The thumbnail is an e46 320D facelift lmao
My car i love it 😂
(I dont even play the game i just came for the thumbnail)
Really the only time I find the game to be laggy or buggy is in multiplayer. I would hope that there are some improvments coming there. Great video Snutt, can wait for more!
Thanks, Jace. Helps a lot.
Hell yeah! so excited for 1.0!
These sound like significant optimizations that will really help a lot. Thanks Jace!
So that's HUGE! All my complex pretty manifolds are gonna be so smooth!
