- A day at the dyno for calibration. April 30, 2011.
First, the car is not mine, it belongs to my brother.
About the car :
- 1986 Camaro IROC.
- I swapped hatch to the 87 version to get the cleaner look I was looking for.
- The wheels are Bonspeed Intense 5. They are now powdercoated satin black.
- Headlights are eBay cheapos that will soon be swapped for LED projectors.
- It put down 400 whp and 390 tq thu a T56 and a fabbed 9" rear end.
- Brakes are C6Z front and rear.
- It was trailered to the dyno because it was not tuned and I was not willing to risk damaging my new engine.
Some more information about my brother's car can be found here : www.cardomain.com/ride/2432471... - Авто та транспорт
There just ain't nothing sweeter in this world then the sound of an American V8 ,, GOD bless America !!
when 3rd gens are fixed up, their amazing
This makes me happy to have my 87 IROC Z 5.7L TPI Camaro :))
definitely one of the cleanest and finest looking 3rd gens i've seen !
you canadians always know how to mod a car the right way! much respect.
I don't understand the powdercoating black wheels thing today. Those wheels look so much better just like that.
Turning what was wrong into right, those 80's cars deserved so much more, the looks were good
Carlo's, 442', F birds,Regals,Camaros, seeing this..it's like yes.. Y E S ! This one in particular looks esp. sweetness...it all comes together perfectly, the white sort of, but here, completely.
looks pretty much stock..the best look.
I recently bought a 1983 z28 Camaro.interior almost like new. It has a 350 short block bored 30m hight torque engine. Factory installed high lift cam. Summitt 750 cfm 4 bbl carb. eldebrock alumn intake. Shorty headers straight back to dual flowmaster exhaust. Estimated around 400 hp. It is very fast. He told me he beat his dad in his 2012 425 hp Camaro. It had been sitting up an ihad it painted back the same brown color. I know your brother will love his camaro.
Holy crap that sounded good on the dyno
Beautiful car! Sounds amazing!
Sounds real nice. Dig the set up.
IveBeautifull car, I recognized it from your build pictures ive drooled over a few years ago LOL, The video doesnt even do it justice. This car is PERFECT in and out!
this is my favorite third gen!!!
BEAUTIFUL CAR MAN!! Lovin those wheels
even tho im a mustang guy through and through since i got a bad experience with a 93 z28...this is the camaro i always wanted because it looks great
Damn that is clean.. Very nicely done!
sounds good, looks good, and i like the lack of door handles lol
Those rims are nassty!!! sick wip
Sickk !! Elle a vraiment un beau look en plus !
Man I love this video. I have a 1986 Camaro Z28 in real life. It only has the 5.0 liter 305 V8 in it tho. Great video, your car has gave me some ideas for my Camaro. Thanks man.
That LS1 sounds proper in that car, that's how they should have been in '86
I remember when these were new...still cool
im working on my thirdgen ls1/t56 swap as we speak nice ride by the way..
Looks like ur brother spent his money well. Very kool car...
It certainly an '86, just swapped to an '87-'90 spoiler. I also took my CHMSL off of my '86 Iroc's hatch. Look for "SpikeIROC" on Car Domain. The car was tore down to pretty much nothing, repainted with fresh arctic white, and built from the ground up from there with basically new everything.
It was an amazing build, probably one of the highest quality builds of any 3rd gen.
Amazing sound !
Let's see my Z28 1984 ! Glance at a 1984 Z28 / Test drive.
Dayum! Love the white:)
Beautiful. Nicest 3rd gen on UA-cam.
It's not really a big deal, I still have it if I want to put it back on. I actually took it off, sanded it down, cleaned it up, made it look new again with some Duplicolor trim paint, and now it's just laying with other parts. Picked up an '87-'90 spoiler with the brake light for only $50.
I like the sleeker look without it, but I'll hang onto it just incase.
theyre amazing period
I wish i could go back in time with one of these 80's body LS1's. And show the world how it should have been..
go to ebay, type your year of camaro, and it will show you them. I think you get all 4 headlight housings if i remember correctly. When you install the hids, make sure to reverse the polarity or won't work.
Great car! That thing is Bad Ass!
Drool... love it. Nice job.
I wish this car was mine but it's my brother's car :)
Still, thx for the comment.i'll pass it along for him.
man this inspires me to keep working on my 1985 iroc z all stock for now but not for long check out my iroc
that car looks awesome.
wow that car sounds amazing! what kind of cam and exhaust do you have?
I agree with you there, maybe a handful of people where i'm from appreciate the 3rd gens. Most of em are all about 67-69.
Nice car :)
sounds like a great cam for a billly goat
What were the max revs on the dyno? Sounded like I was at a NASCAR race!
Great video and sounds amazing! Quick question: are the wheels 18's or 20's? they look great!
BEST THIRD GEN EVER!!! MY INSPIRATION.
Such an awesome ride love the wheels I myself own one an I cannot wait to make look as awesome as urs... Way kind wheels r those ?
not a chevy fan but you have built a clean classic car well done
absolutely sick, i want to get a 3rd gen and do something similar, i just need money first :/ haha
I was wondering how hard it is to swap a 5.3 or GM 6.0L and 4l60e into my 1992 camaro RS
Wow that is the best sounding car ive ever heard. what type of exhaust/headers you running??
ls1's sound amazing!!! what exhaust u have on here??? cant wait till my ls1 is transplanted in my 87 iroc---
beautiful car!!!
The engine is not factory so the car was trailered to prevent any damage from happening to the un-tuned, un-calibrated engine.
The hatch glass is new, I don't think my brother made it different, just newer :)
And yes, it has air ride suspension. Check the link to CarDomain in the description for more info and picture about that.
oh she is such a beauty ! and boy she can sing too ! :)
Thats not a 1986 camaro. If you look closely, you'll see the 3rd brake-light is integrated into the rear bumper at the top, instead of at the top of the rear windsheild. The 1986 is uniquely identifiable by that 3rd brake light being at the top of that rear windshield.
You re right i think its an 87.
He said he swapped his hatch out for a better look so it might actually be an 86, just saying.
oh. could be. 87 was a better camaro, about 15 more HP in the engine
zero cred
but if your doing a ls1 swap. thats kind of irreverent tho lol. i loved my old 92 Camaro Z28. i miss that car. totaled it when i got my dui about 7 years ago. thing was clean as hell too. it was mint inside and out till i wrecked it. i was just about to do a LS swap over that winter too :(
It's 86. Hatch is 87.
what transmission on your build?
Great work
Hey Christian S... Can you tell me what kind of rims your have on it.. Just wondering never seen those before..
thats your opinion. from the looks of it he liked the 89 to 92 rear spoiler third brake light better.
Where can I track down a set of those headlights for my 87?
Where you get them headlights :)
And dude, it is an '86.. His build is all over various forums.. If you look at his car domain page, you will see that the car was stripped down to nothing, and rebuilt in a rather professional manner, no expense spared. What would the difference in time be between putting the '86 hatch back on, or a non-'86 hatch? Lol.
He didn't just tape off the hatch, the car was fully disassembled for painting.
Is that water in the fog light swirling around?
He does :) He would never have put so many hours if he didnt. Enjoy yours :)
I am curious to know what they dyno results are.
hey and could u make a video of mainly ur air suspension?
LOL at the water in the fog light. But otherwise serious respect.
how is the hatch different? i dont see a difference. and does it have air ride suspension?
7:43 That 383 sings nicely.
What wiring schematic did you use to connect the LS1 PCM to the 3rd gen?
It's pretty obvious that he switched out the PCM as well.
Guitarhero1000
I meant what wiring schematic he used to connect the LS1 PCM to the Camaro wring.
Ignition ex.
Painless , is the most likely to make a wiring harness for any popular swaps , try to find the wiring harness for putting a Honda engine in a Corvette might be a little difficult of course . but if you were so inclined , making your own wiring harness isn't that hard .
The best Camaro generation...
if I may ask, what hp and ft/lbs she making ?... Awesome ass ride !!!
It put down 400 whp and 390 tq thu a T56 and a fabbed 9" rear end.
was it hard to swap an ls1 into it? how much work and how difficult was swapping the wiring?
How hard was it to swap the motor to the newer ls1?
what are you wheel specs? I want the same set up as yours.it looks sweet!
SpikeZ on TGO, am I right? Love this car. So glad you got the car of the month spot In what, january? Nicest looking third gen I've seen so far, if you ask me. (:
hey you spek french in the video and the plaque is fromQC if im not mistaken i wanted to ask how much did it cost youto do the paint job because im looking to paint mine in montreal or a near area
corvette 6 piston caliper out back?? or is that the 4 piston
Wheels are Bonspeed Intense
whered did you get those headlights from?
Hi Christian . I’ve tried open the link to car domain. It’s closed now .
I’m very interested to connect with your brother . Is there anywhere’s else I could connect ? Facebook , UA-cam ,
How hard was the ls1 swap? I had an 83 for my first car and I'm looking to buy one again. I'd like to put either a stroker in it or do what you did.
Hey, did you think about chrome Iroc wheels before you put on the ones you have on now?
Hey
what kind headlights do you have on this thing
Kind Sir, can you please tell me what wheels/tires you have on it?
I have 91 Z28 myself and I am looking for something to make it look a little nicer.
what are those badass wheels?
I love this car!! Everything except for them headlight lens. You need to get rid of them. I have an 89 camaro and believe me, they do look good. But using these dims out most of the lights from your HIDs and dont reflect enough light out. Your lights are not reaching there full capabilities.
1986 has a raised third brake light in the glass.
where didi you get the headlights?
i want thenm for my camaro
what cam did you use?
what all is done to the car in the LS1 exchange
The car belong to my brother so I dunno wich rims these are... I will ask him and but it in the video description soon.
How cheap can you put air ride in a 3rd gen? ive got an 86 just like this
Must be running magnaflow exhaust?
what is this? dyno in a storage unit?
I'd hate to be storing my household goods next to that unit......matresses and couches coming out of storage smelling like exhaust and shit....there should be a law on storage unit activities. ........dope gen 3 though
Why was it even trailered in the first place? What kind of #'s did it put down? ---
What exhaust is on there?
this is either not an 86 or he removed the high mount brake light on the hatch.. I have an 86 and it's the only year to have the high mount. also please provide a brand on the wheels, they're killer!
Sure that's an '86? It has the '87 & up rear fin(with rear 3rd brake light incorporated). The '86 cars had the 3rd brake light mounted at the top of the rear hatch glass(the Corvette did as well for '86). Maybe the owner wanted a smoother look? Very nice 3rd Gen F-body!
I forrgot to mention it has a Borg Warner 5 speed trans.
how much power did it make?
Would anybody happen to know if you can keep the stock 700R4 transmission with a Ls1 conversation?
