  • Weekly check in! This month I’ve made the goal to pay off my smallest credit card balance and to pay $200 on the other. I finally received my MRI bill and got the amount due for taxes. Exciting news is that I nearly have my credit card paid off!

      April was great for me. I worked extra to pay for my daughter’s sweet 16. It’s in three weeks. I paid off a credit card card and my student loans and officially paid off! ( the last 8k was forgiven) I also signed up to work extra at work for a few months. My goal is to pay off my last CC ( by august) and then I plan to get back to my Roth contributions. I paused them last year when I was having financial trouble.
      May is both my birthday and my daughter so there’s really no budget for May. I will be outside every weekend and going to restaurants, spas, shops, you name it. 🎉

      April has been a good start for me. The first 2 weeks of April I paid all bills on my pay date, setup reoccurring transfers to my savings, started a buffer in my checking account.
      2nd half of April my oil light came on. I did setup a transfer in the 1st half for car maintenance so I will pay out of that. I also seem to use up my grocery and fast food budget sooner than I did the 1 st half so I may have to up my budget.
      Overall, I was blessed to pay about an extra $350 towards debt this paycheck which allowed me to make all minimum payments + extra.

    Did not hit saving goals this month as got an opportunity to visit a family member in Rome this summer. Booked the trip last week. This was worth the change in my financial goals this month

    Hey I just wanted to mention… I called the number associated with my medical bill from the ER and said “during registration I was told I would get 30% off if I paid in full” when I tell you they did not verify this, she made a couple clicks and my bill was lowered by $300… *cough cough, I was never told during registration I could get a pay in full discount lol.*

    I did not stick to my budget this last pay period but I’m still on track to meet my goals because I thankfully had some buffer money built in!

    I always apply for financial assistance for medical bills. It doesn’t matter how much you make, you most likely will get some type of discount which applies for all medical bills under that facility for 6 months. I only go to healthcare facilities that provide financial assistance. Don’t know if that’s an option for you wherever you’re located.

    • @DyanaMariie
      @DyanaMariie  2 місяці тому +3

      It is! I will probably revisit that option!

      Great advice! Another thing to know is just because you have insurance doesn't mean that you can't get financial assistance from the hospital. I know it existed but didn't think I could get it because I have insurance. I called to make payment arrangements and they alerted me that I can apply for financial assistance.

    Took the plunge and paid some cc debt from savings. I realized that the interest on funds resting in savings was not accruing at the same rate of interest charged on cc, so the balance had to go. I’ll replace it in the coming months.

    Just recently my cousin and I were having a conversation and well we came to the conclusion that it’s cheaper to pay out of pocket than to have health insurance/dental care as you get more discounts paying cash then co pays 😩

    I paid off one credit card! And with my paycheck this Friday I’ll have another credit card halfway paid. I’m like you, so over this debt BS. I’ll be so grateful when it’s all over and I can contribute money to the things I want rather than what I HAVE to pay

    april got me: $673 taxes (thankfully, my State refund came in time to help offset some of the Federal payment), $105 to get taxes done, $340 total for 2 annual membership renewals, $405 for hotel stay to attend a graduation. i wanted to be done with my student loan by the end of may, so my birthday month would be free and clear. that was gonna be my birthday gift. i would've been happy just sleeping all day, as long as i knew my SL was paid off and i was debt free. now? SIGH....

    Does your employer allow you to adjust your HSA contributions during the year? If you increased your payroll deduction, your taxable income would be less for 2024. I’ve been doing that….it doesn’t hurt as bad when med bills come in and I know it’s in the HSA.
