Watching HODINKEE these days is like going back to school, reference number, movement, history, heritage, makes you tired sometimes. Your channel is like a night club, always fun!
2:36 To be more specific: It's the C07.611. The term "Powermatic" which were used by Tissot leads to missunderstandments. Tissot uses tge C07.111 for their entry level watches as like PRX ir others. The most significant difference is, that the 111 uses a escapment and wheel made of plastic. The 611 uses steel material. But I don't understand why Rado makes a secret about it by only publishing "C07" which has no meaning. Because tgere are several diffrent C07 types out there. But both are actually based on the ETA 2824. Thanks for the video btw.
My first watch was a Rado V10K in solid black. I was 18 or so and I was so proud to purchase it. I genuinely loved it, and thought it was so cool. Reading about it and learning that they use a furnace that is capable of recreating the pressure of Jupiter (or something) in order to melt diamonds to make the “worlds hardest watch” just fascinated me to no end. It kickstarted my watch journey. It came in such a cool box too! I will never part with it, even though I rarely wear it these days. Unfortunately, the watch community in America for the most part thinks they’re a trash brand. Well call me a raccoon because I guess I love trash! These two watches you reviewed are awesome, especially the yellow model!
I've watched most of your videos by now and you do a stellar job. The visual qualities drew me in and I stick around for the truly hand-crafted, artisan and cage-free jokes. Lastly, my baseball hat is off to you for pairing suitable music with the vibe of each watch. Best timepiece reviews on the internet.
After watching this video way too many times, i finally found a Tej Chauhan used for a good price and pulled the trigger. Whether or not I like it in person as much as on screen, I’m very excited to experience it in person
Really great video and refreshing commentary that keeps it interesting. I have been eyeing that yellow Tej since it was announced. It's a big sticker number for me, so I wanted your opinion on how you thought the quality felt compared to other $2000 watches? It's one of those watches that looks like a swatch or apple watch, but if the feel is quality in person, it can make all the difference. Keep up the great work. my favorite new channel.
My favorite thing about the yellow one is that it reminds me of my grandmothers 1960s bar stools, especially the strap. The strap looks like it's made from vinyl straight from the stools.
I found a video recommendation of your channel while watching the "traditional" watch videos and I have binged quite a few videos in a single day, the content is that good. As a subscriber, I find your videos and choice of watches refreshing, different. Your video narration is funny, thought-provoking, honest. Please keep up the good work !!
Super mega thanks for those shots. I nearly ordered one after seeing the video. It`s in my mind since some time. Every time i see the yellow watch i get the feeling of WoW. Just a thought of mind, how long will the strap last? I mean the case and movement are gorgeous but will the material of the strap last?
I was not sure if I am crazy that I feel in love with this yellow True Square... but man... this looks amazing on your wrist! Went straight to my want list. also, amazing video!
What do you know? A budget Moser's Swiss Alps. Not what the market nor the enthusiast had asked, but a refreshing look nonetheless. From the surface it's an odd addition from Rado but given their popularity in the west asia, it's a well-calculated decision that starts to show its progress. You got to give the Swatch group credit for their efforts these past few years to differentiate their brands more (especially their lower to middle division) and gave them the liberty to do so. A much needed effort the Richemont group brands need to replicate. Great video as always, cheers!
Love your channel and attitude towards watches. Beats the mainstream appealers out there by a country mile. You make me watch a watch video about watches I would never want. Thank you!
I bought one - the Tej Chauhan. It was a Black Friday deal, no less. It's soft and striking; the perfect complement to my boring collection. I predict it'll get less outside attention on my wrist than my vanilla Speedmaster, even though it's the color of a perfectly ripened banana. I love it.
I’ve always appreciated Rado’s willingness to experiment with their watches, exotic materials utilization and development, collaborations with artists and designers. Their revolutionary work with high-tech ceramic had a huge impact over the entire industry. For whatever reason they don’t seem to be very popular in the West; whereas in South Asia, Southeast Asia and Latin America they’re a highly popular, visible and well-regarded brand - basically on the same tier as Omega. I wish that they would make more automatic Ceramica models.
I really like that you’re covering such cool watches! I didn’t know they existed but boy am I glad that I do now. Even if I’m not gonna buy one of them, it’s still cool to me. Cheers and keep up the great work! Love your content,
Love the look and vibe of these. Kind of like a more complex and interesting NIXON Player. Are there any similar watches or brands you’d recommend to check out if these are right up your alley (me, being ostensibly weird)? Thanks for the great review!
Rado's always been funky. What, with those ceramic watches and those weird Dia-Stars. When I was young and would visit India with my folks to see family, I remember uncles with the solid gold Rado Dia-Stars and my grandpa's gold HMT. Those were my first luxury watch memories.
Hey man, nice video! You should look into the True Square Formafantasma. These watches are cool and unusual. For my taste though, the Formafantasma plays in a league of it's own from a design, style and philosophical stand point. Though with your preference to legebility the Formafantasma might not be for you. To me it's the perfect watch though :)
I really feel like the designer for the sunburst dial could have made small Tweeks to make the watch more legible. Like making the hour and minute hands longer. Or making the white markers larger. Or changing the colors etc.
Very nice video and absolutely mad and cool watches! But I personally don't really like ceramic watches. I have never held one or experienced one, but I would love to. I just always have to think, that if I bump my wrist into a door frame, the complete case would shatter. That's why I like my Sinn EZM 7 with the completely tegimented case. That way, I have an almost scratch-free case, but with the ductility and shatter-proofness of steel. Anyways I just think, these watches are absolutely insane looking and really really cool. Great videos and I really enjoy your content. Cheers.
Awesome. Thanks for highlighting, thanks to #rado for building, thanks to the designers for bringing us something original. Great value. My fav def yellow. Including the bracelet. How many times have we seen this style? Rarely. How many times do we see this peephole sapphire? Rarely. Brilliant and love those that defy convention, in favour of the oddities. Right up my street. Thanks again.
Amazing watches and great review. I've never heard of them but I am checking the yellow one right now. Thanks for that! Can you do a review of Breitling premier b01 Norton?
I reached out to my local Rado bootic hoping to see them/try them in person. The price of over the Abyss is puting it me off... :) other than that I also appreciate the movement inside. I would have liked both with a more classy brown leather strap, if inly i has the option.
Umm…..I just…..hmm….I don’t know if…..hmm. Also: Youth is a time bomb that goes off when you’re 40. Eyes included. Excellent vid as usual. You’re style is unassailable and darn fun.
Who wants to be 80 years old wearing a new looking watch? Not me, at that age I want to wear an old friend that has faithfully accompanied me through time taking its dings and knocks along with me, too.
Great video and I love the fact you cover unusual designs like these as I don't think I would have seen them anywhere else. Most watch channels are just following each other by making Rolex related videos and bad mouthing Hublot wherever possible.
Damn, I really like the blue one, a shame I really can't read the time :/ Then I remembered that even when I wear a watch I almost always check the time on my phone... Hm... lol
Been looking forward to this one ever since I saw the pics on your instagram. I guess the only... concern I should say, I have with the watches is the price point. As you've said, I think the person would have to be pretty weird to be getting these watches at US$2000+ when there are so many great options out there. - Han
With ceramic you don't get scratches : you lose pieces of ceramic if you bang them a little too hard ;) In any ( ceramic ) case, I must say I love Rado. I own a Diastar from the 90s, and some of their new and vintage inspired pieces, are very attractive. Even their vintage are crazy or original. It's the opposite of Longines, that is stuck in a conservative approach of 1950s, even by 1950s standards. Swatch Group is pretty smart in their companies acquisition.

Good thing that box had a warning label!
Seriously, otherwise the style would have burned me.
Completely random question but what microphone do you use for your videos? Love the timbre and quality of the sound that it produces.
I use a Blue Snowball and then add a little compression.
