- If you are riding around with a stuck or fallen window on your older SUV, today I will show you how to repair it for $1. You will need someone to help with this repair.
I clicked buy accident and I continued to listen to your words of encouragement and positivity while I hand sewed my dress. My vision and hands are not what they used to be. I finished my dress with out wanting to cry. You are a true sweetheart. Im sure you spread joy everywhere you go. Thank you for just being you.
Wow this is amazing, I have to do this on all 4 of my windows.. I have a 1998 Buick Regal, I paid $1,600 for it 3 years ago it's been a really good car .But my power windows all quit..I took my car to the shop. They said I needed a new Switch, but when he put a new switch in it still didn't work. The mechanic checked further into my car and found out that my wiring was all bad.. He said I needed a new wiring harness. Something had shorted out my wiring. It would cost me more than my car was worth to fix it.. Otherwise my car runs really good. So until I can afford to buy me another car I'm going to attempt to do what you just showed me. But I'm blessed to have a garage to park my car in so it won't get wet inside. Thank you so much....
You're awesome woman! My cat actually tapped your video lol, random but true. All these fools sayin "just replace the motor, it only costs $$$" clearly they don't know what its like to actually NEED every damn dollar and cent you earn for frivolous stuff like food and shelter. Thank you for sharing, i'm gonna check out your other videos now
Lady D exactly! Its not my motor the silver part of mine that hold mine is broke! And i cant find what or where it came from.....THIS SEEMS TO BE PERFECT
Sonja's cooking videos are awesome!!
For a single mother with no family to ask for help, this is AWESOME!!
Wow great job! Such a smart idea. Same thing just happened to me a few months ago-plastic and all! I ended up paying the stealership way too much to fix but I’m a 60 year old lady; I struggle to do things like this anymore.
THIS WOMAN is a sweetheart and, like, totally brilliant. Love it!!!!!
From watching you work, (taking the panel off and being careful) I'm willing to bet you can replace the window regulator. It's not too expensive for this vehicle. I believe its a Durango or Dakota and if you search a bit you can get them as low as $30 with the motor.
A basic tool set is all that's needed. I have a back up set for $10 I got to keep as a spare in my car. It's already paid off for minor work and a must have for all us DIYer, it really does come in handy for almost anyone.
Anyway, it's not to dis you, much respect. You show such tenacity while doing this video! My hats off to you.
Many men I know (and women) would learn a thing or two from watching!
Blessings to you.
Girl that same damn thing just happened to me three days ago!! Thank you for posting this, God showed me this video for real!!!! 😘
Wow, awesome video! I guess the three hundred haters are auto mechanics who don’t like you showing us how to save our money 😆
Thanks 👍
Oh, my goodness, girl. You bring back some empowering budget-wise memories of my younger days when juggling my budget, my kids, keeping the lights on and the car running seemed a never-ending daily checklist chore. .Right now, I've got your specific fallen window problem but fell down the stairs, got a rotator cuff injury that's still healing, so yeah, gonna have to find a few strong buddies to follow your lead on this one. But way back once upon a time, I had a costly ignition/steering column/starter issue to deal with, but had a very kind empathetic mechanic who told me a free (but kinda dangerous) temporary workaround, then installed a better cheap work around so I could keep starting and driving my car and running my kids everywhere daily. The first was not a free fix for timid souls and I was probably crazy death-defying out of my mind to do this, but my mechanic showed me where to lay flat and reach under the car and touch something metal (can't remember what) while someone else turned the key to start. It would spark, then voila, the engine ran, Mama would crawl back up and into the driver's seat and basically try to never turn that car off while chauffering kids and running all my errands until I got back home with both me and my kids and do the whole dangerous get-under-the-car routine (and not get run over) the next day and next day for a whole month until I got the money to pay the mechanic to just install a "red easy button" on the dash instead of messing with the short in the stearing column... a much more costly repair. My family liked that starter button so much, we never fixed it back to normal... though we did put an extra locking system on the doors as you didn't need a key to start it. The car was old and not a theif's choice for thieving, so we were lucky on that count, too. But all in all, I'd rather be creative/techy/mechanically brave than broke or helpless... so you go girl!!!! Looooooove what you're doing online. What an awesome enabling one woman force of nature, physics and good common sense you are! Thanky thanky! :)
Sonya you are awesome!! I did what you said in this video and my drivers side window is closed (permanently). My mini-van is a 2003 Oddessey and I am done sinking money into it. I will part ways with it in a few months. Until then, it is drive-able. I bought a set of clamps at my local ACE Hardware store: the set had six clamps for $10. 3 different sizes of clamps, two each. In one area of the door compartment, the smaller clamp works while the largest clamp works in another area. I have two clamps in there with four left over for other projects. Depending on your vehicle, one size clamp might work better than the others, viewers; its not one size fits all. Did I mention you are awesome, Sonya?!? Thanks again for the easy fix!!
That's great. Here in Colombia they apparently fix one thing while they break another and the don't tell you. Then you realize that what seemed to be fixed is broken too. So, I learned by doing myself and, at least, I knew the things I broke myself. Meaning, I learn how to fix my things and I don't have to wait for more surprises. Though, sometimes you find people who are really honest like my motorcycle mechanic whom I've trusted for three years.
i went to the hardware store to get clamps and I asked if anything else would work. And I bought these little wooden wedges (shims) and slid 2 between the window and the panel. Super easy and fast. And my window won't even budge! Very good idea.
Worked like a charm... thanks champ!!!
Same with me. My door is held up with a wooden clothespin, metal spring removed. Push up window and jam them in place. Temporary fix but it works.
Cool
Thank you hun 🙏 my moms window kept falling down we live in Michigan it’s freezing 🥶 here thank you for the video I’m writing after I watched your video and did my moms car! Saved me money and time. You rock thanks again for the video!
uh, if you go through all of that trouble, you should just put a whole new regulator and motor in (you've already done half the work). For around 50 bucks you can do it yourself and have working windows. but with that being said, it's still a good tip to keep it up without using ugly tape. Nice job!
My radio don't work no more.

The window regulator part for my vehicle is $195.00 and that's without the motor. Whewww

It's awesome a woman fixing her car that's cool and positive thing to do proud of her
All I can say is I really like you. I have a master window switch problem since last week, and I haven't addressed it yet. I was just Youtubing around for information, and your very down to earth, hardworking video appeared and I watched you at work from start to finish. You are handy and smart, smart smart. Gauging from everyone's posts, you are just fabulous. I'm going to look around and learn more from you. Thank you and God Bless you👍☺☺
I didn't need to know this. But her voice and being helpful and just being an amazing human being kept me watching. Smiled through the whole thing. You are a sweet heart keep it up.
You are very gifted in communication, very gifted in understanding what needs to be said, down to the smallest detail. thanks for this video it was a real help to me...
That is a gift for real. I have a tendency to get very wordy explaining something and it confuses most people.
You are a great woman, That let nothing stop you. We need to learn a few things from you
You did a great Job with the help of the Man up above
I've been in this position where I can't afford a window regulator for a few weeks. But what I would recommend instead of a spring clamp is using a Hose clamp. If you unscrew it all the way, it will split, allowing you to wrap it around the track. Then, you can use the screw to tighten it and remove it later, but make sure the screw assy lines up with one of the flat sides.
A few things I want to say about this video and the comments:
1. TWO DOLLARS! I had enough tools lying around the house, all I need to get were a couple of clamps, one for each side of the window, they're a buck apiece at Home Depot, and while it probably wouldn't be a good idea to repeatedly slam the door as hard as you can, that window stays unless you go out of you way to push down on it with all your might, which would wreck any window.
2. How is it you know it's the motor or whatever it might be if you're a regular guy and the window doesn't roll up? I pulled out the panel, I think the motor was fine, but when I pulled the panel out, a pulley fell out that was stripped and one of the wires that pulls the window up and down was knotted up like a rat's nest. Not wanting to spend all day with trial and error, I went with this solution. I've seen motors cost between $30 - $80 online, the entire assemblies cost twice that much, and how much would a mechanic charge for labor? For not being mechanically inclined, I'm glad I was able to do this by myself and to be able to afford it.
3. There is such a thing as fixed ENOUGH. Yeah, I can't roll it down, but I live in Phoenix, it's been 110 degrees every day for a month, there is no desire to roll it down and let my hair blow back. All a window in this city has to do is be transparent and keep the heat/wind/rain out and the AC in. Not being able to roll it down is a small price to pay if it means being able to drive around town with some degree of comfort.
So thank you, Sonya. You've won a subscriber.
Flag Coco I’m in Phoenix too and just came across this video today because...my window just fell down today when someone closed my door.
girl...you are good! i just watched for the heck of it because you were so positive; waaay more patience than i would have. God bless!
Hi Sonya, I just went to your UA-cam home channel & saw the video with you in the hospital. I hope you are all better since that last video was posted 3 years ago. I just happened upon this instructional video tonight not realizing it was 7 years old. If you get to read your messages, Please know that I and I'm sure many of us hope you are doing and feeling well. ❤
You've got balls. I'm not brave enough to do this. Well done
I love this video and I love your encouragement!! I just rigged my window up the other day with 2 window locks, lol. My arms are bruised from jamming them into the holes of the door 😆😆😂😂
You're a self sufficient, beautiful and VERY helpful woman! Thank you for the advice!! I live in Florida and you just saved me from ruining my newish, and certainly "new tome van" tonight as, naturally, the very day my window acts up is when it's going to come a flood because, $250 extra dollars just isn't lying around the house right now! Thank you, thank you, thank you!
Excellent--just bought a used car yesterday and never checked about the power windows--ugh--3 don't work, and I lowered one 4" and it started to rain today. Haven't tried your solution yet for have a tarp over it all--but can't drive around that way. I've seen some other videos on youtube, and will try different ones, but I do like yours, if I can't figure out the electronic stuff, and by the way, LOVE your T-shirt, for I'm born again too, and share the gospel with others about every other day!
You are amazing!! I struggled with that problem and was going around looking crazy with duck tape in the grove of the window wrapped around a thin tree limb wedged down in the grove, trying to keep my window from sliding down and save some money ! Major fail!! Couldn't even go thru a car wash!! Thank you thank thank you Sonya!!! This really works guys!!!!💚😘
I'm riding now with clear tape wrapped around lol
Jennifer Johnson thanks for the information about the window
LoL , the things we do to live .
This video should have gone viral!!!
Love a smart, powerful woman!! Thanks!!!
I missed the part about repairing it. Power windows are not stationary. They normally go up and /or down in response to the closing of one of two switches. The video should be entitled " How to convert a broken power window into a stationary window--for $1 (plus appropriate retail tax)". I admire your work ethic. The best way to truly fix a power window for next to nothing is to watch a You Tube video dealing with the replacement of your particular cars' window regulator. Go to an auto wreckers and remove a used one for re-installation into your own vehicle. You'll likely get it for $15--but watch a video first to ensure you have the right tools for that particular car model, make and year. you'll save hundreds of dollars and have a working power window.
Do not use a junk yard regulator, or nine times out of ten you'll be replacing it a few months later. Most new regulators are pretty cheap online. The problem with junk yard regulators is that they tend to sit unused and exposed to the elements. Most of the time they are heavily greased and have sensitive parts like nylon rollers. If they sit unused for long periods of time in extreme conditions, the grease could dry up, or the sensitive parts could seize up or deteriorate. Just pay for the piece of mind.
This video was exactly what I needed. God Bless you. Thank you 💯💪🏾🏆
I appreciate you for this video, sometimes you just have to do things yourself
thanks , i just broke mine today , july 15,2017 ,the passenger side on the second row , you are right , i also do not want to spend that much at least for the meantime , in my case i use a shower suction cup since it is the one available at the moment, interesting to know that the price in the U.S. for a heavy duty clamp is only $1 , i hope it is the same here in Canada, very nice video , very straight forward :D
Thanks. I'm about to fix my car window now.
Thank you for sharing this! I just paid a dealership to fix my window and they didn't have the part, so they taped it until they can fix it. With duct tape. $344!! And when I go back, I still have to pay another labor fee!!
Thank you so much for posting this video! I also do not have $200 to fix my window. This fix is awesome and I was able to do it on my own! Thanks again!
thank you for sharing your blessing with us in repairing the driver's side window, when God is with you on anything it will be fixed......peace.....william
The most capable car-repair woman! Will learn from you! Many thanks and blessings!
wonderful explanation. Ive been searching and seen many men do something similar but not explain it clearly. Love seeing a woman fix something and explain. If women were in control of this world what an amazing place we would live in. Woman are better at everything!!! Thanks
You are so clever! Thanks so much, this is just what I was looking for. My daughter and I are going to tackle her window this weekend and the price of a clamp is much better than paying a mechanic!
I love how creative and handy you are Ms. Sonya ! Love your videos and all that you share!! So glad you are back !!
Lifesaver! I replaced the switch and window still wouldn't go up. Bought a regulator but was dreading the job with window down all the way. On 5th slam holding button it went up! Thanks a bunch. Now I think I can replace it much easier.
Incredible repair. You sound like a military veteran, just by the way you gave out the instructions; really clear in simple English. Thanks a bunch.
You r fantastic and you encouraged me not to quit. Thanks Christian Woman.
Thank you very much for sharing. You help me and people who are using old cars to save a lot of money.
Awesome video and presentation.. you are thorough in your instructions. I have had to work on several power window failures. Thanks.
Wow u did an awesome job...more power to you...I do enjoy watching your channel, you give awesome advice...keep them coming sonya...be blessed :)
You go girl. We truly can do all things through Christ who strengthens us! 👏 👏
This is what I love about you how to repair things. But to be honest that would drive me crazyyyyyyyyyy. I want to let you know that I did clean my bar b q grill after watching your video and I also cut my hedges.
I know this video is 5 yes old but thankyou so much...I was trying adhesive tape and all kinds of other ways and my window kept falling...lol gonna buy the clamp or two tomorrow 🤗🤙🤜🤛
You are a LIFE SAVER. Thank you so much for this video.
Sonya, you are a virtuous woman! That was absolutely amazing! You always find a way to make things happen! This was truly helpful for me, thanks!
pw
Thanks! It worked. Did this for my 17 year old son.
The smoothest most articulate and intelligent,
with such perfectly sequenced explanation of each step, that I have ever heard.
Sonya, you are a natural when it comes to explaining something.
I hope you produce more videos, cause I will be looking for you.
You make my heart glad to see an intelligent pretty woman who is so open and honest, whose good nature really shines thru.
Stay safe.
God bless you.
Wowww First time I seeing a women doing this ... Awesome 👏🏻
Thank you so much! Exactly what I was looking for
You are correct God knows everything. Are teacher and guide.
This is amazing! I've been using duct tape for a year, thank you for this!
The wisdom of God! Smh! Thank you sis!
Sonya, Your video was a GREAT video, You are a natural teacher. With a new part you can have that window working again for maybe $80 bucks just guessing. You CAN do that later if you want to. I know you could. You had everything already tore down to that part already. I also do all I can myself on my cars and on my house. Its fun to learn and do things. The feeling of accomplishment is a great feeling. I very much enjoyed your video. Thank you for you showing us what you did.
OMG! I LOVE that you give God the credit. Yes - He does give you awesome ideas.Just listen. I also love that you get straight to the point instead of chatting about non-issues - random points prior to getting to the task.
You are an excellent inspirational teacher. I also appreciate fact that you kept in mind how frustrated people can become - leading to failure in a project. You have a calm about you that is a great reminder to not freak out if things don’t go 100% the way you think they should. This is a great video. Seriously one of the best due to its directness and detail. Yes, the window isn’t completely fixed, but it will do until a person can take it to be fixed. BUT - because you’re such a calm,to the point, detailed, articulate teacher, you should try to match up with professionals, for example, a professional who would do a video with you to fix things completely (if you can find one as they may lose business). Anyway, someone who won’t do it for you, but guide you while you do the video. They will get free advertising from your video for people who may not want to do a project if they don’t feel they can. Thank you for taking time to do helpful videos like these!!!!
Don’t understand why so many haters have to post negative comments, if you found a easier way then more power to you! This women is clearly trying to help people and her way is very simple and works flawlessly! So to the trolls get a damn life, if you don’t like the video move on and call it a day damn.
Again thanks for the video it helped me replacing my moms motor cost a lot of money and it had wire cores and tangled up so this video did the trick. Thanks Sounya
I need a wife like you , good job, but it's not that easy, What is stopping the clamp from falling down ?? The only woman fixed my car was from South Carolina, but she had a few brothers and a yard with broken cars to learn from. Good job !!
Excellent job!!!!
What! A woman fixing a car I can't believe it! I'm just playing this is a very helpful video to shows that it's easy to fix car window anyone can do it just follow directions
Hello Sonya, I truly enjoy watching all your videos! Sonya your a GENIUS with gifted, talented blessed hands!
Thank you very much!
GYRL, i so lubb YOU lol !! My window motor went out and i was told it'll cost me $250 to get it fixed and I'm a working single mother who's currently going through a divorce. My ex didn't want to help me ,although it's our children whom i have to tote around in my car. I came across your video and now I'm ready to do this by myself! I just want to get it UP, don't care about it coming back down. It's my passenger side window. Thank thank thank you so much for posting this video !! Now i coupd have easily played the damsel in distress and have gotten one of my admirers to fix it for me , but my father ALWAYS taught me that Ain't shit FREE in this world , so learn how to do for self ,so you'll NEVER feel like you owe anyone anything!!!
This was very inspirational I have a Buick century '05 from my uncle and my window keeps falling down and lord knows I don't have the money I'm in inspired like you said don't be discouraged but i'ma be honest I'm scared I might mess up something and whoop I have an attitude for the day lol
Your story sounds like mines except I was in Winn Dixie at the time. I wish I knew this tip beforehand. Sonya once again you are the jill of all trades
Sonya you're awesome!! They don't make women like you anymore
Truly God sent!!
Thank You Queen! Im going to try it.
Sonya you really are on it girl.
Sonya, thanks so much for your video; for I know it really takes someone who cares to go to the time to make them. I had the same problem here. My neighbor came over and immediately fixed it so it will stay up. Now, this fix is better than a clamp, and a little more expensive if you don't own one already, which I did. He used a vise grip to secure the window closed. Thanks so much for your video. God bless you and may you have a greatly blessed Easter!
Sonya, you are like superwoman. You sure can do anything.
Hello Classy Young Lady, thank you for sharing your kindness :)
Awesome job for only $1, I know what to do now cause 2 of my windows like to try and come down as I have to pull them up daily and I get tired of doing it, I have a 2003 Oldsmobile Alero 4 door sedan car, the only window that work properly is the passenger front window, all other ones does not, the front driver window and rear passenger windows I have to pull up daily when they constantly come down on they own, I be trying to put something on the window to hold them up
Is there anything you cant do Sonya!! Thats was great. to be honest I wasnt going to watch this video, because I know Im never gonna do this and at this time, I dont have this problem, BUT Ive watched every single one of you videos, so I said I guess i watch it, and it is a great help to anyone who needs to have a cheaper fix, 200.00 is too much to pay..so thanks for sharing...Blessings Debbie
That's right sis. It has to work. 🤗
Great video that’s the crap I’m doing today and l have done this three times l watched your vid and it stands true!!!!! Those little plastic parts break and the dealers won’t sell them and why????? But the will sell you a hole new one for 3 to six hundred bucks . The passenger side is usually the first on to break and the first seat to get a cigarette burn on it
Good video
This was an AWESOME video! I am going to try this as soon as possible!!
good job! now you need to show us how to replace the clips so the window rolls up and down
Thanks so much for sharing this with us! Glad to see you are doing well! God bless you and your family!
Thank you for posting
Women rock!!!
Strong
Power
And willing
You can even use wire or rope run through some of the holes however you can get new window regulators for cheap and they are easy to install
Wow! @Sonyabeonit that was great...your confidence with fixing the window yourself is very inspiring. Thanks
Thank you for the video that is exactly what I needed thank you so so much be blessed
Great video lady but sense you already had that plastic panel off all you head to do was place the window but on the rail so your window could go up and down and no need to buy those clamps
Ok Woman Power... I'm going to fix mines when sun go down...just dropped down today.. Thanks Sis..
Great job!!!!
Thank you so much for the video.
This right here is a Woman👐🏿
Cheers for that :) Fn BRILLIANT idea
I've tried this so many times, finally got it, thanks!
This woman is 🔥
Damn girl you’re a handy diy genius, wish you were my friend!!! 😆😂
Sonya girl you know how to fix everything from weaves to windows lol superwoman
If you go this far removing the panel...you should go to the nearest auto store and actually buy what you need & repair it...Good job preventing it from falling though
