PARENTS of two transgender children say they are not pushing an agenda, but instead supporting their kids with acceptance and love. James, 11, and Olivia, 7, live with their parents, Ben and Sara, in Berkeley, California. The family are sharing their story with the hope of normalising the narrative surrounding trans children.

Children are perfect as they are, you have to teach kids to accept themselves for who they are! Just because you don’t fit in with popular trends doesn’t mean you’re anything else besides what you are. It’s sad these kids will never learn how to accept themselves and build real confidence

      Listen buddy,
You want them to follow your strict unchanging Abrahamic gender rules. That isn’t traumatizing?
If you want them to follow YOUR Abrahamic Deuteronomy 22:5 rules (instead of freedom to be creative and make their own), then respectfully, SHUT. UP. Nobody wants to hear you. Adhere to your Abrahamic gender roles on YOUR own. Don’t force others to be like you or dress like you. Your Abrahamic dictatorship that has been taking control of most history will soon be over. You can dress according to the religious Abrahamic male vs female code, but YOU CANNOT FORCE IT ON EVERYONE ELSE.

Congrats. A few years ago, I too considered myself trans when I surrounded myself in an lgbtq group who encouraged this. I even had one friend who suggested I inject hormones into myself because I was uncertain of my gender. If it wasn't for my parents, who had noticed I was different and found I was considering myself trans online, and helping me realizing I wasn't I was just surrounded by the wrong people, idk where I'd be today. I have never once reconsidered by gender and I am very strong and affirmed in my manhood.
A vast majority of adolescent kids who have gender dysphoria decide against it later on. Telling kids to get injected hormones and extremely risky surgeries with major complications that legitimately ruin their body, is indoctrination and glorified child abuse. This movement is completely evil when you poke through the holes and realize what they are actually pushing. They are not pushing universal acceptance, they are pushing to completely ruin impressionable children's bodies and make them infertile forever.
I am very happy that you went back on your decision and I wish you the best

    • @jessiesfrosties
      @jessiesfrosties 9 місяців тому +5

@@Zewind Yeah you kinda lost credibility when you called it a "movement" pushing an agenda. Being trans is something you are, nothing more, nothing less. You're either trans or cis.
Transitioning is a choice for some, and isn't a choice for others. You're also lying about regret rates - the transition process has one of the lowest regret rates of all time for basically every procedure, including HRT. The regret rate is 0.5-2% depending on country. The global regret rate for having children is 10%+.
Puberty blockers aren't dangerous in the least, their only effect is delaying puberty.
Once a person is of legal age, they are no longer a kid, and HRT + surgeries should be completely up to them - these do not ruin the body. Yes, infertility is a potential side-effect, and trans people understand that. Infertility isn't a curse or a bad thing if you don't want kids, and even if you do, you can deposit sperm to a sperm bank, or eggs for that matter. Or adopt.
The "think of the children" argument is so tired and irrelevant it's baffling people still make the attempt. The surgeries, unless necessary for life saving purposes, are only made on adults, and they're not "risky" surgeries. Any surgery is by default more risky than not having one, at least short term, but these surgeries aren't new or experimental. They're just regular surgeries. And for people with bad gender dysphoria, lifesaving.
Also, taking HRT for a day or two won't do anything to your fertility. Literally nothing. And your body will tell you exactly what it thinks of the hormones VERY fast, way before any permanent changes take place. So anybody "on the fence but kinda sure" who tries HRT (in a safe way) will know very fast if they're trans or not, because if you're not trans, you'll experience gender dysphoria and body disassociation when you take the "wrong" hormones.

Just so people get it straight, being a tomboy and being trans are two WILDLY different things. I was the tomboy of all tomboys as a kid (even my older brother tells people that I went early in the "draft" when teams were chosen despite my being the only girl 😆), but I never questioned my gender; I just wasn't a girly-girl... and I still wasn't when I got voted "best looking" and "cutest hairstyle" as a senior in high school. Decades later, I still prefer combat boots over pumps, but I've always been a female and strictly dickly in my sexual preference 😊. People who identify as a trans man wouldn't have that experience (and their sexual preference could be wildly different too). My point? It's complicated - and it's highly unlikely that it's a "phase" if a little girl keeps insisting that she's a boy for years on end.

I have to wonder if children of such a young age should be over facilitated as these two seem to be. I think at that age children who feel like the opposite gender than their chromosomes indicate should be permitted to explore but not required to commit. If my young son informed me that he was in fact a girl I would tell him that he could live like a girl for a while to see if he was sure. I would get him counselling to help him figure things out. But I would not require him to decide for certain and in fact I would not allow him to decide for certain at least for a while. It would not be until he reached puberty where it would become serious decision time and even then there are medications that can delay puberty for a while. The problem I see is that children tend to change their mind a lot and parents tend to demand a child make up their mind so I think what often happens is the parent demand a child pick a gender and stick with it. I would have no problem with my son/daughter changing back and forth regularly or intermittently just to make sure that they are indeed transgender and not simply either a very feminine boy or a very masculine girl. I think that it is difficult to be happy if the parents pressure a child. I don't mean pressure them to change but pressure them to make up their mind. At that age I had no idea what I wanted to be when I grew up and if offered a gender choice I still might not have had any idea what I wanted to be. Children have far more choices today than when I was a kid. What kind of phone do you want? Me: "I get to have my own phone?" Kids didn't have phones in those days. What kind of school clothes do you want? Me: "I get to choose my own clothes?" Kids didn't get to choose that either in my day. What do you want for dinner? Me: "It's my birthday?" Kids ate what their mom fixed for dinner or went without. Too many choices these days and now kids have to choose their gender on top of everything else. Too many choices leads to a confusing childhood. Gender is one of the biggest choices if indeed it's a choice. I'm 60 and I still am not sure what I want to be when I grow up.

What does that have to do with anything? We all have our wants and desires, like how I wanted so badly to be a cat when I was little, but body dysmorphia is a real thing, and that's what makes us feel the need to transition. To be able feel comfortable in our bodies. It's not a delusion or even a decision, like being a girl but wanting to be a boy, it's how the brain is wired, and they can't change that. Like how some people are born only attracted to the same sex, they can't change that. Little 'abnormalities' like that has caused tremendous pain and suffering to those people because of other's ignorance and lack of understanding.

I'm concerned that medical treatment is happening that's permanent at such a young age really concerns me. Have they spoken to professionals that specialise in transgender, have they had therapy (you can go to therapy re many things like upcoming ops etc not just mental health to talk through things to be sure the decision is the right one). I have always had a masculine energy. I remember being 16, sat in the college hall thinking I really want to become male. I really meant it but it stopped around 3 years later. My daughter is 12, also a masculine energy. She isn't thinking about her gender or other people's genders or gives a toss about the differences, she just accepts everyone. At 8 I wouldn't dream of altering her body chemistry if she said she wanted to be male. As a post op trans women I have to warn you. Dont let your kids receive sugery until they are adults. Its totally hell and is very hard on your body with a real risk of major complications not to mention they very well may feel different when they get old. In all honesty i wish i never would have went through almost 20 surgical procedures and just stayed as i was created.

George Thomas no...no, I think you are misunderstanding my comment. I have absolutely no disagreement with the fact of these children being transgender (however I don’t believe the younger sibling actually is but I’m not even going to go into that), or the fact that their parents are totally supporting their choices. What I do have am issue with is the way I am interpreting the mother’s “support”. It seems as though she has these kids on display, almost like she’s feeding from their lives and dad is just kinda “whatever mom says”.
I am a parent as well, my oldest is 27, my youngest is 3 so I have experienced parenting at all levels. These kids almost seemed coached on what to say and how to think and that I do have a problem with.

Pickle Juice I'm bi actually. But children are too young to decide such big life decisions. The mother was discussing with the eight year old about having kids one day and they're just too young for that kind of pressure and too be worried about any of that. Kids should be kids. If that's taken away too soon more problems arise.

    • @clairew4829

Erika CH smh.... No tattoos are a much smaller deal than ones own gender preference or sexuality. If I were to have gotten a tattoo chosen by my 8 year old self I wouldn't be happy with it in my adult years. These are CHILDREN. They're brains are not fully mature yet to make such a life altering decision. Regardless if it is the right choice for them, they should wait at least until an age of maturity to make such a mature decision.
