IT’S rare to be born a twin, but these sets of twins take rare and unique to an extraordinary level. From twins Lucy and Zoe who are one of only three sets of twins in the entire world with their condition, to twins Sierra and Sienna, who often get people mistaking them for older and younger siblings due to Sienna’s incredibly rare condition. These twins have faced many difficulties along the way but that hasn’t stopped them from living their lives to the fullest and inspiring others along the way.
If you know a set of twins with an amazing story to tell, please get in touch with us at trulycasting@futurenet.com

Totally have to agree with you that people with DS are the most loving human beings.
And although it is true that they may have higher rates of heart conditions and other health challenges, we can't predict with absolute certainty what future health problems anyone will have (and honestly, probably more than half of people in 1st world countries have self-induced, life-changing health conditions). I think knowing if your unborn child has a problem is useful only in preparing for its birth and parenting challenges ahead of time rather than for the purpose of termination, excluding extreme situations.
Honestly, if I had to choose between a child with down-syndrome or a different disability, I would definitely choose DS. I don't think i've ever seen or known of a person with DS, of any age, who didn't have a permanent smile on their face, the most joyful and loving personality, and who is so willing to forgive almost instantly and carry on without holding a grudge for even a minute. There has to be something else about that extra chromosome that goes beyond physical appearance and mental capacity. We have so much to learn from people with this condition. Everytime I meet someone with DS it brings an instant smile to my face because, well, they always have on on theirs even if it seems like they have no reason to. Best kind of people!

My great grandmother and her sister were twins. Born 1892! They always bought two of everything. Even when they lived in different towns they would wear the same thing…without plannning or any prior communication. The only way to tell them apart was different glasses! They were amazing. I had them for over 25 years. I was blessed.

Goodness. My great grandmother was a twin and born in 1892 as well. Names were Effie and Minnie. Effie waa my great grandmother. Is your last name robertson? Maybe we are related. My family is from Tennessee. My grandmother was born in 1912 when titanic sank. She was told she couldn't have kids and had my dad when she was 41 in 1953. I was born in 1981. So I'm 42. Yet my grandmother waa born in 1912. We skipped an entire generation or two with her not having kids until 40s. My dads sister was born when she was 39-40. My grandmkther passed when I was 10. Wish I could have known her more. My dad was in the air force so moved around and didn't live in Tennessee then. She was apparently was amazing. I only have few memories. I look just like her though and so does my daughter

I found this totally amazing. They were all beautiful, but Sheterria, the older sister to She'riq and Te'riq, was gorgeous!! I wish I could look like that. Unfortunately, kids can be cruel, and some adults are as well. I hope everyone in this video can continue their upbeat view on life. They were all so positive despite having some differences and a lot of people should look to them for inspiration and not to their differences.

When pregnant, I was very high risk for having a baby with Down’s Syndrome. I had an amniocentesis and was “genetically counselled” and told I’d be booked in for termination if the result was positive. my husband and I said we would not terminate and the doctor told us that we were the first couple in his entire 30+ year career who would keep a child with a definate diagnosis of Down’s Syndrome. So sad. She had a negative result, but we would have loved her just the same anyway.❤

My mom and aunt are twins. My mom passed away 30 years ago though. I was a twin but my twin passed during pregnancy, which left my mom and I pretty sickly. I left the hospital before she did. I was 4.5 lbs at birth, her kidneys failed. She was the weaker twin their whole lives. She didn’t know her heart was failing and the doctors misdiagnosed her 12 times the week she passed. She was the best person I’ve ever known. We still miss her every day. She was amazing and the best mom God ever could have chosen for us. We were lucky.

As a sibling of a mentally handicapped person, one of the biggest things these parents can do is start looking into care in adulthood after the parents are gone. Don’t leave that for their brother to figure out and transition them through. Don’t assume their brother will have the ability or resources to look after them.

I think that’s true for some but for my family when my mom goes (hopefully not for a very long time)! We already know the order of who our sister is staying with. It works for us that way and it’s safer in all our eyes. She knows we all love her and are a unit. She can’t speak the best and a lot of people would take advantage of her especially in care homes. We refuse for her to fall through the cracks.

I do not know what your particular difference is that you are referring to, but it sounds like it's significant to you and that is why I am writing this note, which is probably going to ramble on. I will not be offended if you don't read though. I tend to talk too much anyway (it's an ADHD thing). But here it is anyway.
Most adults can say, with absolute certainty, that we are ALL different, whether it can be seen on the surface or not. I have learned in my considerable time being alive so far, that if we cannot accept and celebrate our individual selves for whatever we look like, or feel or act, or are capable of, no matter how different, then others will have a hard time accepting us too. So, really, how people end up treating us has a lot to do with how we treat ourselves and how we show up in that authentic way in the presence of those people.
All of these twins embrace their differences partly because it's impossible to hide them and so they are forced to face them head-on, and partly because they have families and friends (and a twin) who love and support them to the fullest, which helps them to accept themselves openly and honestly, even though it can be brutal, especially while children in school. I figure that if they can do it, so can I. And so can you. Even without the significant support these twins have, which really does make it extra, extra hard (I know, I have zero family near me), embracing your whole self can, and must, be done. It just has to be. It's impossible to live a truly happy life if you feel guilty or ashamed for being the way you naturally are.
I am touched that this video was so meaningful to you and I hope that my words will also bring you some comfort. At least enough comfort to remind you that whatever your challenges are and however inspiring these stories were to you, you were always special, and will always be special whether or not you even knew that these twins existed or saw this video. It is only your perspective that has been changed by this video (and perhaps why it had you in tears). Because, in reality, you have always been exactly what you were supposed to be, in every way. It's true that not only is your very existence a miracle on it's own, but your life has already made a positive impact on someone or something, or maybe a bunch of someones or somethings, in ways you probably will never know. Even smiling at a stranger who really needed a smile that day would have made that person feel special in that moment and might have even caused that person to make a life-changing decision, or pass on that smile to another person who needed it, and so on. Every moment of every day is an opportunity to not just accept, but to embrace yourself, however different. But most importantly, revealing to others that you love yourself by holding yourself with confidence, being kind, and giving a genuine smile to everyone (even the staring or nasty strangers) will not only create smiles in return, but will also allow people to notice the person behind that smile before they ever notice the thing that makes you different that concerns you. I hope that makes sense. And I wish you much happiness in your future. I hope you felt the hug I just sent you! And if you don't read this, I am still grateful that I got to write it because that helps me too. Cheers!

I found their story fascinating! But when they started talking about how hard it is to be targeted as black males by police, I really wanted to reach through the screen to remind them that if they had stayed females, they'd be targeted by far more people than just the police.
The safety precautions women have to take these days to not become a victim of a male predator just by doing normal, everyday things like walking to your car, is staggering. Women have been targeted by males for millenia and it's only getting worse. At least as males, these twins are unlikely to be stalked, kidnapped, beaten, raped, or murdered just for being a woman and alone anywhere. I feel bad that they feel like the police profile them, but those are opportunities to prove good character and are more of an inconvenience in comparison to the life-threatening situations experienced by women for doing absolutely nothing wrong.
It has actually crossed my mind that some teenage girls these days, who may or may not have been abused by a man, might want to transition to male just to feel safe now that transitions are more accessible? Makes me wonder. It really does. I don't know what the rules are for being allowed to transition, but I do wonder if it would be allowed for the SOLE purpose of feeling, and being, safer? This shouldn't even be a thought. But it is. And if that ever happens, then men in society have a great deal to answer for.
I wish these young men a happy and content future and I'm so glad they have each other for support.

No, I think you misunderstood. Referring to the conjoined twins who were separated from each other's bodies at 9 months old, not from their adoptive family. They grew up together. They are adults now, living independently I believe, and, at the time this doc was made, were set to go off to different colleges and truly away from each other for the first time.

Oh my goodness….., EVERYONE of these twins are so gorgeous, wise, compassionate, and STRONG😊. Kudos to their parents for
raising such well adjusted humans. I was particularly taken with the family with albinism. Why the older sister isn’t a model baffles me, she is drop-dead gorgeous❤❤❤❤❤❤❤. Thank-you all for participating in this documentary and for educating us. Parents, you make me hang on a little stronger to the belief in humanity again.

To Callie and Carter's parents I would say: What an extraordinary pair you are...seriously to go through not knowing if they would survive, the pressure to terminate and to see the joy above the struggles of bringing up conjoined twins with the absolute love you have for these two delightful girls. There are heroes in all walks of life and you absolutely come into that catagory.

As a 39 year old I was supposed to get an am nose teens but all it they would test for was spina bifida and down syndrom.
And there was a significant chance the procedure would cause a spontaneous aboration!
I had wanted a child for so long, I refused the procedure. I was prepared for any outcome. Fortunately, I was blessed with a lovely baby girl.

Children with downs syndrome are the most loving, joyful babies in the world. I always pray life treats them kind and they never have to lose any of their love and joy.🦋🙏

    • @Yosetime
      @Yosetime 2 дні тому

If it's any comfort, I have never known of even a single person with Downs Syndrome who lost their loving and joyful nature no matter how old they got or what challenges life threw at them. It seems as if they are the only humans on earth who can be genuinely happy to be alive and willing to love anyone no matter what. And their lives are not always easy even if they do have a loving and supportive family. But they take it in stride, smiling anyway. Wouldn't it be great if we were all like that? I think DS people are a gift, and a lesson, for humanity. I know they have taught me much.

I love the dad of Isobel and Abigail said "I don't care how many chromosomes they have, will they walk, talk, interact?" He should add will they be happy 😊?! I don't think I've ever seen a melodramatic down syndrome person before. Is it possible to have a perpetually sad, upset or angry person with down syndrome? I've only ever seen these kinds of people being happy, almost all the time happy!

I was a fraternal twin but sadly my twin brother passed away when we were 4 months old 💔 being born in the 70s the medical field wasn't advanced as it is now and I'm 100% positive he would have survived if we had been born later on, but obviously God needed him more. I always say there's a piece of me missing that nothing and no one can fill and I know it's him. RIP Glenn Allen
