The accuracy of this review is actually insane.
I was one of the backers of the kickstarter for this case, and you explained almost every issue I experienced perfectly. Nicely done.
f
If there are issues in a case for $500 then the creators "done fucked it up". I mean come on... at that price a guy should fly over to you and assemble it at your house as a door-to-door service :P
@@RafalBorowski it comes with a cat that is super intelligent and will do the install for you. Hence the high price of $500.
@@retnirp548 Exactly, and if I sink 5K into my build I definitely don't want a case like this one with so many imperfections and issues.
@@retnirp548 agreed. But at $500, you can't pass up on any issues. If this same case was $200, yea I can see ignoring some issues. People that will drop thousands are doing so and want perfection.
The most underrated pc channel
No ads in the beginning
Straight to the point
No clickbait or stupid face in the thumbnail
Great video quality and photography
Unique content
You know what else is underrated? This segue to our sponsor: an awful piece of metal to put your money in and call it a "wallet"
@@zaidlacksalastname4905 man, the lack of stupid faces on the thumbnail is the best thing on this channel
@@zaidlacksalastname4905 "We don't do paid reviews, But we'll gladly do a sponsored "showcase", mentioning zero of it's faults and labeling it as "almost perfect"."

I got an ad haha. But it’s all good. More than happy to support
Case comes included with a cat. It's a fair price, then.

It has so many holes at this point i would considers this as an open case XD
Lol
The crazy thing to me is the solid panels cost less than perforated with the size of those holes
Top PC case engineers: "hmm, how can we continue to optimize airflow for 2021 hardware?"
These guys: "just fuckin CNC a ton of holes in it lmao"
@@samgoff5289 it only makes sense since it will cost the same amount of material and way more milling.
@@samgoff5289 of course it costs more lol
@1:45 that angle of the camera on the hole pattern is so cool. Looks like an optical illusion!!!
yeah i saw that too, was wondering wtf was going on then i realized it.
At $500, if this thing isn't perfect, then it's not worth $500. When something as good as the NR200 doesn't even break 20% of that price, it's completely bonkers to think there are so many issues.
Yeah, that is a high price to pay for something extra unique/boutique. I'll stick with my Ncase!
3:24 "manual force" like if that was a challenge for those guns he carries
There are too many CONs for a case this price.
yup its seems like a prototype not ready for mainstream
Exactly. This case have a lot of oversights for the price they are asking. At $500 is expected no compromise, almost perfect execution visually and mechanically.
Mismatch anodizing (how hard is to build a batch of 10 cases with all the parts and anodize all that parts on one go, then do the same instead of doing one anodizing only with the structure parts and a later one with the side panels only), small power button cable (at least they are removable from the looks of it) and gaps when fitting parts. Also I don't like the ventilation pattern, specially when other cases achieve similar thermal performance without huge holes.
Good prototype but nothing more like this, needs a lot of refinement.
The $80 NR200 looks better and better every time one of these boutique cases come out.
the NR200 says "It doesnt matter what price they are!!"
I find it rather hard to beat that case.
Exactly. The NR200 is great, **especially** at the price.
@@ChristopherBloom nr200 with the 3d printed base skirt for placing the fans on the outside is cheap, and adds a lot cooling for dual rads systems
Ali: do you smell what the Winter One is cooking?
NR200: *raises eyebrow*
@@OKmoomer LOL
The NR200 is hard to beat regardless of price. It's an amazing case, and 1/2 the price of its competition. Those panel misalignments are not acceptable on a even a $100 case.
the NR200 made a lot of these boutique ITX cases obsolete. Yes you get a slightly smaller footprint, but in the end it's not worth the price difference
not even half the price, more like 1/5th the price of this case
I really appreciate his honest and thorough reviews! I've been really thinking about an ITX build and am using Ali's work as a reference point.
Don't bother with the insane custom water loop, for the price, the case's flaws are inexcusable
I love that you have been doing more case reviews recently!
I appreciate your content and honesty in your reviews. Thank you for content.
I love your videos; they are absolutely perfect. You deserve so many more subs and I truly hope you get them as the quality content spreads.
I can't wait to watch you at 55 years old, bench-pressing a car while explaining why the newest holographic video game technology is a decent buy right now
I bet they'll all have a water reservoir and batteries, adding 1000kg. Good luck with that lift
Thanks for the honest review Ali and you are right, for the price the case has to be perfect. These issues are supposed to be addressed in the next revision, sure hope they get it sorted because the case has a lot of potential.
I love these itx vids, I just finished building my itx after 3 months of waiting for a power supply.
Your channel is awesome, i love itx builds
I like seeing the custom loops you do.. they are beautiful, I learn a lot, and I can dream about doing them one day lol
I for one would love to see an all out water cooling loop in this case. I totally understand the quality frustrations at the price point this case is at, but in my opinion the lack of other cases of similar size that can support 2 280mm radiators still make this case very intriguing for people like myself into PC water cooling if the thermals are good enough.
I'm the same, currently have a 2 x 360 rad atx build and want to try an itx but dont want to go down to a single rad so this case has potential if the price can drop.
Thanks for these reviews!
Thank for your honesty!
Loved the cameras Cameo in this video! hahah 💥🤘
Extremely detailed review. Very well done! Interesting case wish it was worth the price point.
Best tech chanel I ever met! Keep doing gdm great content!
Fair and honest review. Thanks for another great review.
Nice review,, and I completely agree with all your points.. I'll stay with my NR200. 🥰 Fits my EK Pheonix 280 rad on the side and a ISPC TX 240 rad. Cools GPU and CPU just fine beautifully.
Ali I personally would love to see video with a full custom loop in this enclosure, just because your build videos are an absolute joy to watch; pure eye candy! But if it's something that would be frustrating for you to make then don't feel as though you need to. I think we all just want to watch the content that you're happy making. Peace bro!
How disappointing that these days, most of the manufacturers
just think high priced Gucci things will gather customers
without caring about quality...
Always love ur channel
Great review!
Another great review, as usual.
excellent review!
Another great video! Could we see some more itx builds after you review them? (Like water cooled, different configs, etc)
I'm personally a sucker for those huge perforations.
Sm580 would be a close alternative but there it would be a thiccer 280 rad at the top instead of 2 and fans at the bottom
Yeah the 580 seems to be a much better alternative to this case. And it's also $230 cheaper
that is exactly what i got. build a custom loop and added a mora 420 radiator, but i can disconnect it and just use the radiators in the case (1 280mm 54mm thick top and 240 slim 20mm rad bottom)
2:27 one of the best cut outs I've ever seen, and also one of the best cut outs I'll need :D
I'd love to see a custom loop in this!
I got the NR200 upon release and never considered any other case since then. The most solid yet affordable case to date!
Hey Ali,
Can you revisit the NR200 and perhaps build a more cooling optimised loop in it?
Been waiting for this so long!
Been waiting to be disappointed for this long?
@@samgoff5289 to see his thoughts on this case...
Meanwhile, the NR200: "YOU HAVE NO POWER HERE!!"
Once again OT sets the standard, respect.
I'd be interested in a watercooling video on this, it seems like that would mitigate the need for those super open side panels (saving you money) and you'd probably get less rattling with fewer moving parts like a GPU fan.
hopefully they can get round to a v2.
I don’t get why he didn’t test this with a custom loop. That’s obviously what the case was meant for and anything less seems like a waste of time considering the exorbitant cost. I was hoping to see a custom loop and comparison of the thermals between the solid and vented side panels. Kind of disappointed since Optimum’s reviews are usually S-tier.
Shipping it flat packed saves cost?
at 500 USD?
It is actually minted from Bitcoin?
It's also for environmental reasons. The creator talks about it on the SFF.net forum thread. The case is very expensive and tbh suffers from the very small production scale and the materials used. I can see how some big name maker could take the same overall idea and scale it up 50x and bring the final price below 200.
I just built a dual-rad loop in an Ncase M1 and disassembling it to fit the 3090 and tubing was a royal pain in the ass. I’m not sure why this is considered a con?
At $500 ?
What do you think bitcoin is mate
@@FinneousPJ1 Irony... 🙃.
See what I did there...
Those perforated size panels look kinda nice
I am not a big fan of itx rigs but I watch these videos anyway 😂 This man makes quality videos
I agree with your recommendations. I’ll stick to my NR200. In my opinion, the cougar QBX still deserves an honorable mention as the low cost alternative.
Looking forward to the Winter Two
500 bucks? Nah bro you got it. No metal box is worth that much.
case labs was
@@woopwoop3924 Not really if it was 500$ for a case this size. I have a Case labs itx case myself. Their itx cases we're around 250-300 if i remember correct depending on config That is pretty much half, and they went out of business. It's a niche market, and i don't see Winter succeeding with this one.
@@diodrengen2630 same. most people can't even afford 200 dollar cases 500 is insane for any single piece of hardware that isn't the gpu or cpu
Hey buddy, was wondering how did you do the "thermal analysis" where you showed the heat dissipation from the case? Wish you could let me know so i could try it out. Thanks in advance and also helping people like me with to get much more computer knowledge.
I was also very interested in this case, but it took to long and i bought the NCASE M1. I am happy that i did this, because this price is just insane for a little bit metal and the NCASE M1 looks better.
Would be really happy to also see a Jonsbo A4 review since there aren't many out there
any chance of comparing this to the Sliger SM580? It seems like it would be the closest competitor to the Winter One in terms of size, layout, and cooling compatibility. Don't know why it never gets mentioned anymore, when the thermals were incredible.
Damn the milling is so smooth like keycult keyboard cases.. 🤤
Hope to see waterloop version of this case!!!
Damn. Your reviews are always on point. The price of that case is not friendly at all lol.
Jesus. Even an SM580 is like half the price, and I'd take that over this undoubtedly
just looking at this build is nerve-wracking, the precision is insane
We built two nCase-M1 full custom loops PCs with RTX3090FE’s and honestly can’t imagine a better setup. Your build vlogs were key. That nCase is just the right height and width to fit nicely on a shelf. I’ll say all the perforations on this case don’t bother me at all. But that price tag does. I didn’t see anything that differentiates it.
Thorzone Mjolnir is the same price with glass panels and booster cell. Nice case and nice video as usual. This case looks so much nicer than Thorzone.
Just commenting that I wanna let you know I am very interested in seeing a custom loop in there. Almost can't wait anymore
Auto liked the video. Best reviewer ever.
ncase m1 is just such a huge success and definitely still hard to beat.
thanks for the review, no need for custom loop.
Really cool case
Can you please make a custom loop with two radiators?
From my understanding that case was designed for this purpose, it is where it'll shine.
I for one would love to see a custom loop build in this. A good review overall, but with a case like this I do feel that not pushing it to its limits is doing it a bit of a disservice - if you're spending $500 on a case, it's likely you're also going custom water anyhow, and seeing what it can do in that case is definitely interesting.
im curious why you dont mention sliger cases in your recommendations? i purchased a sliger sm560 based on your review of the 580 & some other reasearch i did, and while it was a bit tricky to put together a working parts list for it, the performance has been incredible for its size.
I would love to see a custom watercooled build of this
Can you do a click latency test when using a USB hub? I'm curious to know about how much it affects latency.
plan to use this as my NAS case...4 2.5 inch option slot, enough for me
you should check out the deulx m800, you can get it on all express for $35, and it's honestly a good wireless mouse, and it's perfect for modding. the feet suck, but you can buy aftermarket feet. The side switches also suck, but you can also mod those.
What do you think of cooler master's v850 sfx gold , especially compared to the Corsair sf750 platinum?
I think it would be worth doing a dual 280 loop just to set the new benchmark for your charts. It should outperform everything from a thermal standpoint.
Wow, you actually went into all the pros and cons seemingly. I don't usually like to rag on Linus every time he breathes, but this is such a sharp contrast to his mostly positive review.
Hey ali, Long time lurker and subscriber here. i was just wondering, why is it that you almost never cover sliger cases here? it would be really interesting if you did, considering that sliger cases are really high quality and very good performance wise.
WOW!!! When will the day come when I will buy a PC like this? this is my dream...
hey will u be doing the comparison to find the best 144hz cheap monitor (around £200) for overall gaming, media and work?
as i play on a ps5 i want to get a 120fps capable monitor with as fast response time as possible with at least 1080p while not losing colour accuracy or brightness as i would ideally like to use it for competitve fps games, media consumption and work
hello, i really like your reviews on pc mini, would you like to do a review of the In Win A1 case
Water-cool it Ali
Thank you
Can you please review a Ryzen APU 5700G. How good is it for 4K video editing.. This is something the future SFF community will be interested in with the shortage of graphic cards.
I backed it on KS for just under $400. I had originally wanted to get another NCase, but that was $260 after shipping to the US. I figured I spend $140 more to support the Winter One and have room for another large radiator.
At $110 USD the SSUPD makes this thing look like a joke. Definitely glad I finally got mine based on your review. Appreciate all the good tech info/reviews on SSF computing. They helped me jump into the world of ITX builds!!!
Some of the alignment issues come from the user having to assemble the case. I had the same issue in my Aklla A4 Pro after I had to partially disassemble the case to install an SSD where I wanted it. Everything got well before, but the tolerances were looser after no matter what I do
Want to do my first non atx build in12 years and this case hits me like my TJ07 did - I’m well intimidated when it comes to choosing the hardware size wise tho 😂
One question: How did you manage to turn CPU cooler to make airflow go to top? 8:02 This is Cooler Master 212 Black Edition as I see, but how?
TLDR: **don't buy one**
The imperfections are just poor for its hefty price.
Seriously this looks like a piece of art. Unlike a lot of cases even over 100 dollars that anyone will see. I would drop 500 bux on this if i was building this type of system.
You got crap taste, it looks nasty and a total ripoff.
@@khalilrazak6486 ok
The vents we all deserved!
I was almost wondering if the price was being justified on the continued unavailability of the T1 -- which goes for $500-$900 from ebay scalpers.
ITX case review let's goooooo
edit: more cat pls
I know this one is a little old but the batch 2 preorders for this case have not even been produced yet, yet alone shipped. Was hoping you could possibly reach out to Winter and see if there is an update. Last official update on the downlink channel talking about the batch 2 in their discord was on September 19, 2021 stating the issues they have had. It is over a year now and there has not been any real updates on when the case will ship. I was excited about getting this case by the end of 2021 but it has been over a year with no official ship date stated. I am of course partially at fault for buying into the preorder from a new small case maker but it was also feature on your channel and LTT which made it seem like a finished product and a definite ship date by end of 2021. At this point I have asked them for a refund as over a year for something that was to be shipped by end of 2021 is pushing my patience but maybe a nudge from you can get them to at least respond to my refund request as well as possibly getting others who ordered this their case. Thanks for all the videos!
I'm actually quite surprised you haven't reviewed the Cerberus case from Sliger as its roughly the same size but half the cost of this, plus its modular!
Ali doesn't like sliger unfortunately.
@@ethanjacobson4853 Oh I didn't know that, any reason for it?
@@thegamerboy1000 I'm going to quote what sliger said in their discord. "He thought there was going to be a v2" And sliger is never in the comparison graphs if look. It obvious he something against them.
$500 for a case? That's insane! I thought I was paying a high price when I bought my Sliger Cerberus X, and none of the panels came bent. While this is a wonderful looking case, it costing as much as a solid CPU is outrageous, particularly if they're going to ship you bent and inconsistently anodized panels. Great production value as always man, even if the company ought to give that aboriginal song about not huffing petrol from a can a listen.
off topic: Do you think gysync is better then no sync for comp gaming?
Please do a custom loop!
One has to wonder how many revisions they went through or how much test fitting happened before shipment to backers. If they nailed the details perfectly, would you change your opinion and say this case is worth it?
Build the loop so I can vicariously live through your experience!
Please test the Thermaltake Tower 100!
