I can’t love this video enough!! Thank you for sharing with your fellow stylists. I tried equal parts 07N & 07P as a root smudge today and it was beautiful!!!
You do gorgeous work and am so grateful I found you! Thank for explaining to all of us who also love shades but are not as confident as you with formulas! I am a blond but would love to see a shades on brunettes as well!
Love this new recipes to use yay - it's my only toners I use and what surprises me is when a new client comes in they are stunned at how shiny the hair is after.
Love this! Thank you for going over the toning process in the bowl. I’m sure we’ve all had a scare when we tone wet hair...very deceiving lol So awesome of you to share your formulas. You are amazing!
Oh wow. This vid was so educational + inspirational. I would love to do what you do but could not afford it in a million years. Just to know so many people learn from experts like you that are willing to share knowledge is priceless. I got super happy when you mentioned you just learned about Shades EQ by experience and experimenting with tones.
Very helpful! I'm in Cosmetology school and that's the thing I'm confused about is what toners to use. Yes, please do a video for brunettes also! Thanks so much! :-)
Thank you SO MUCH for being so detailed with the different start levels, it makes a huge difference. Please, please, please do a video for brunette toners.
Just wondering what you would use in shades to go back to a pretty dish water blonde from level 9 light blonde? Thank you for all your inspirational videos!! You have magic hands Lexi!!!🙌
What a helpful vid! Did you use equal pts? Do any of the formulas have clear added? If you lift to level 8 & 9 pieces what toner combo would you suggest to combat the gold to achieve a color like the pic “you could stare at forever”? Equal pts 8v, 9 n?
Hi there, thank you so much for doing a video on toners I love Redken shades to but I was always afraid of the bowl to leave it on too long but thank you for explaining to not be afraid. You’re awesome I love your work. And yes can you do some on brunettes. Thanks again love your channel
Great video, I have sometimes rinse the shades eq earlier because the hair was getting grayish specially with the 9V. Is it ok to wait longer if this start to happen? I think I had it for 3 minutes and rinse it ....
Informative. One thing (I’m an amateur) I’m confused about is the amount of time. I’ve heard from my stylists that it won’t last to deposit as much if you don’t leave it on for a full 20 minutes. But then I’ve seen lots of people talk about just doing it for 5 or 10 minutes. Can you explain?
Thanks this was SO HELPFUL! Im wondering when you do a root tap do u wait for it to process rinse then do the blonde toner? Or do you apply the root, then go ahead abd apply the rest, then rinse all together? Im sure it differs between clients and i usually do the tap then start the bottom but the way you phrased it made me thibk maybe u make them seperate services altogether?
Thanks for sharing! U r an amazing talent, I’ve just started doing more balayage and i needed some toner/shades advice😍also how much more do u charge for using a toner? NOBODY at my salon charges extra for toner!
Love this video great job of explaining just a quick question when you do your shadow root or your root tap do you wash it out or do you also tone at the same time as you’re doing your root tapor shadowed root
i always do my shadow root at the bowl after rinsing out the lightener and then i shampoo after. you can shampoo before and just condition after if you want to.
How long do you leave your toners on for and do you add clear? I stay away from 9v cause it goes too dark on my icy blondes but I do highlift tone before toning
I get so nervous with toners like they are going to grab or darken the blonde. I usually use toners like wells blondor that doesn’t have a exact “#level” but I want to use shades but am worried like I said it will darken or grab unevenly. Especially when you do a bleach touchup and they’re so bright at root and you still have some of that yellowy mid shaft and then the old blonde on the ends.would doing a 9V all over turn the ends to dark while making the bright root to bright an platinum?
Thanks a loooooot for that video, you explained it so well and easy to understand with that result pictures! But I have a question:I'm a hairdresser for like 14 years now,and I used to work with Wella Color Touch and Wella Illumina as toners after doing hightlights. With Shades EQ is there a high risk that the end result, especially with the V-tones,turn out grey or "dirty ashy blond"?! Love your work, love your videos, you're amazingly talented! Best regards from Berlin/Germany
I know 9b can turn out gray but I usually have really pretty results using 9v but if you're worried it will turn out too ashy then you can always mix 9v with like 9n or 9gi and it will be lovely.
Lexi Dawn Thank you for the quick response! Okay,I will defintely try it...maybe I will just mix it with the 9n,just that I don't freak out at the sink :-) And thanks a lot, again, for your videos...your work is a big inspiration!
And what about 07N Equal parts wait a 7P for the roots With the Redken shades EQ process solutionIt’s still like the dark and the roots Did I do something wrong
Lexi Dawn yay thank you for sharing you sweetheart. I'm def going to do this for myself as the Guy Tang range has just become available in the UK! Whoop whoop. 😘😘😘
thank you so much for sharing. love it! What are the base differences between the P and V if your not looking for the icy grey look but want to cancel brass. thanks!
pearl has more of a blue undertone and violet has a more purple. so if you have more brass i would use pearl and if you have more yellow i would use violet
Love that you took your time to explain the toner outcomes .... I believe I sharing information and at the end it is up to de stylist to make these color come to life ... 💐
i let them decide when they want to come back it. the girls that get foil all the way up usually come in every 4 to 6 weeks to get their highlights moved up and toned. the more balayage looks they come in every 2 to 3 months to get their color refreshed.
I am platinum blonde but wanting to go darker (due to extreme damage). I did a bleach w 5 vol last month and result was a nice level 8 (I think). And I now want to continue growing it out like this so it will now become a natural balayage (?). My roots are super orange. I'm just so not used to not being blonde and I'm scared of going too dark. (Could add babylights in 4 months or so though) Would you recommend 7P then or my roots for now and maybe drag it a little lower? I can hold for 10 m on roots and 3 min on midlengths? And then 9V for lengths?
hello from Russia😅🥰very beautiful hair colors🥰I fell in love with the color at 13:28, please help me write the formula for this color🥰it’s 1:1?🥰🥰I don't understand the spoken language well. Lighten them and then tint them?❤️
I have noooo idea what baby lites is and since you mention it before using the 9V blonde I can’t even begin a process. Wonder if “baby lites” is a regional term. So, what is baby lites?
I can’t love this video enough!! Thank you for sharing with your fellow stylists. I tried equal parts 07N & 07P as a root smudge today and it was beautiful!!!

Lexi Dawn great thank you
How do you prevent 9v from grabbing and dulling the blonde down
How long do you leave your toners on for and do you add clear? I stay away from 9v cause it goes too dark on my icy blondes but I do highlift tone before toning
Thank you so informative 👌
U r the Bomb!
your brows are grrrrreat! what is your toner?
I LOVE your color
Thanks for showing how dark the tones look while they process! Definitely scary sometimes
Thank you for sharing. 💕

Love all your videos! On the 7n, 7p with 8v was it equal parts. TIA! 😘
yep!
Lexi Dawn do you used clear with all of them? Where are you located?
I would LOVE to know how you got your hair colour. It's absolutely stunning. Please share formula. Xxx
for sure! kate gave my a partial foil then toned with guy tang 7rg on my roots and 9rg on the rest!
Lexi Dawn yay thank you for sharing you sweetheart. I'm def going to do this for myself as the Guy Tang range has just become available in the UK! Whoop whoop. 😘😘😘
thank you so much for sharing. love it! What are the base differences between the P

Pearl is more beige and violet is more ashy/icy.
So probably Pearl.
Erin Glassey thank you.
pearl has more of a blue undertone and violet has a more purple. so if you have more brass i would use pearl and if you have more yellow i would use violet
Lexi Dawn thank you very much!
Have you ever tried for an Icy platinum 9P and a dash of 9RB. It’s get that Hair super white!
no but ive heard good things about that
Its definitely and an art.
Love that you took your time to explain the toner outcomes .... I believe I sharing information and at the end it is up to de stylist to make these color come to life ... 💐
I will defend try out 7p. I love 7n for shadow roots
You need that Redk3n Shades EQ in the title
💕💕💕
Thank you for sharing. How long do you generally leave shades eq on for toning?
its different for every clients. i just watch the hair and rinse when its the tone i want
Would love to know your personal hair colors in this video!
Thank you!
I just bought 9P and I am planning to buy 9v.
Would just 9P give me a good result on bright yellow hair?
How long do you let the root tap process?
9n 9p haha, you funny :D love your videos
do you always tone on damp hair?
Do you mix the 9V clear?
@LexiDawn how often do you have them come in for toner refresh ?
i let them decide when they want to come back it. the girls that get foil all the way up usually come in every 4 to 6 weeks to get their highlights moved up and toned. the more balayage looks they come in every 2 to 3 months to get their color refreshed.

honestly I wouldn't be able to tell you exactly what you need because I can't see your hair in person. so sorry
hello from Russia😅🥰very beautiful hair colors🥰I fell in love with the color at 13:28, please help me write the formula for this color🥰it’s 1:1?🥰🥰I don't understand the spoken language well. Lighten them and then tint them?❤️

Brunette toners! Also, what colors are on your hair? I love it!
thank you! its guy tang 7rg on my root and 9rg on my ends
What does eq stand for?
Did you use crystal clear?
I have noooo idea what baby lites is and since you mention it before using the 9V blonde I can’t even begin a process. Wonder if “baby lites” is a regional term. So, what is baby lites?
Doesn’t the 9 v make the hair look lilac sometimes. I thought you would need to add 9 n. To it. All your looks look amazing x
Same question here.
I’m going for beachy golden blonde.
(AVOIDING ASH)
Hair is about an 8
Mostly yellow
Quite a bit of Orange 🍊 😂
🙏🏻any advice
Thanks!
