I used to stream and planning to return to it and honestly, Eljays videos are making my self esteem and confidence go up by a big chunk! I'm a DJ and I play live on Twitch. I have 4 monthly shows and it's steady growth. What I always do with each show is play some new music I discovered and mixed it in with my favorite classic or I play tracks with 2 or more genres of Underground Dance music. I used to create a playlist and follow it and I do on occasion but mostly I will start a track and allow the music to guide me throughout my show. I love being free and organic. I stop caring about how many ppl see or chat but when someone does check out my stream, I let them know and keep my same fun and energy during my set. I see a number of small DJ channels like mine don't put in the work and that's why they don't grow. Trust me I have been there. I am still growing but I have also been improving how I play to engage ppl who are checking out my show.
It's amazing how people can forget "this is a show" even if they're standing on a stage in front of a theater full of people. You can get so wrapped up in the technical aspect of what you're doing that you forget your relationship with your audience, go offstage and say "ugh I messed up that line/joke/chord" and someone else reminds you that nobody noticed your "mistake," but they did notice your need to demonstrate that you were upset by losing your smile and energy and disengaging. The best thing I think you can do, as a performer who suddenly gets self-conscious, is remember that the audience just wants to have a good time. Recommit to connecting with them, don't double down on focusing on your craft. Some of the best shows I've seen were horrible from the purist's perspective, but the audience is already planning their next visit and promising to bring more friends.

I've been following you for a decently long time now but I have always somewhat failed in taking your advice. And the biggest reason is that I am scared of failure. I'm scared of doing a challenge and ending up failing, i'm scared of setting up a cool stream and something not working. Part of that is because I take your advice too literal. It always sounds so grand planning out a stream with an introduction, challenge and goal. And even if I somehow managed to do this in the past, I always ended up regretting it, deleting the VOD and cancelling my editing of said VOD. All of this tends to lead me to demotivation and unlearning pretty much everything I learned from your videos and rewatching my own VODs. But I'm gonna kick that damn anxiety in the butt. It's hard to accept for me that things can fail but I've been working hard on rewiring that mindset. I wanna thank you for putting out so many quality videos, helping out Creators like me for a damn long time now. Hey man what do you suggest for people who have a full time job and the schedule changes all the time that want to be streamers but need money to live?
Make UA-cam videos once a week and build an audience that way first, especially if you can’t lock a schedule in as a streamer. growing purely as a streamer NEEDS consistency, but it’s not worth leaving your job. So UA-cam :)
Amazing idea. I have a question: Do you have tips for structuring content around things you haven't yet experienced? For example, if I wanted to play God of War Ragnarok on stream, it's hard to know going into it what the "challenge" is, othe than "eventually beat the game". I was thinking about it, and maybe the first stream you could not set a goal, but use that time to experience the first couple hours of the game and try to find what a good/challenge goal would be for the next stream.
I desired yesterday to start streaming my first play through of Elden Ring. It felt surprisingly fun and natural since I’m always talking to myself and cracking jokes in my head anyway, I just did it outloud.
@@daisydyt5875 well follow for a follow can work, but in the future if still nobody is watching. Is it worth it then? anyway goodluck with the channel!
I'm definitely gonna try these ideas in future streams. It can be easy to get caught in a sort of habit of just playing games. The tip near the end was a good one. Also, slightly off topic, I love the glitch transition effect in these videos. I'd love to know how it's done?
It's very difficult for me. 1 scheduling would need improvement but I work almost everyday so it difficult to even stream. I kinda stream when I want but my energy low. I'm bit of introvert an awkward so it is difficult to be entertaining. I'm more to support many streamers then anything.
Its all good brother just try to stay consistent and don’t be afraid to come out of your comfort zone. Share your link I’d love to support your stream! I’m a new streamer and I work everyday also so i get how it’s nerve wrecking and hard to have that exciting energy lol
I love your videos thank you for all the work you do to help other people just trying to have fun playing vidoe games and sharing it with other people keep it up!
That was a fantastic video, it really goes to make you think, WHAT your stream real is other than just gameplay and what are you are bringing to the party.
I had my first stream on twitch 2 days ago is it normal to have 1 viewer? Like I’m not sure is that a bot? And any tips on how to draw more views and followers? Does the title make a difference when going live? Help!
Glad to see you pumping content again with not as long time in-between. I appreciate your tips, and glad you switched platforms to make it easier to achieve and focus.
I'm a very slow growing and evolving streamer who's trying to pick up streaming as not only a hobby but a fun social environment for me someone who doesn't enjoy leaving home.. my new personal growth goal for this month is to just pick up a stream routine to stick to so I can have more consistent content to work with!.. or that's the plan just gotta stick to it.. is this a reasonable slow start?
So I stream FPS games like Cod and Valorant. What would a goal for an FPS stream look like in your mind? I know some long term goals I have that I could make aware to the viewers, but I am not sure what the goal for an individual stream should be.
I feel like most of editing is honestly just practice, lots of videos give you all these little tips to editing, but the only one that matters is just start. Get a short recording, maybe a few clips, and just practice trying to make them feel and look good. Editing has a lot of intuition, and you only learn that from doing, not from guides :)
I have an interesting question I want to ask. I saw a popular streamer mention he used embedded views to boost page to the top of a category Do you have any thoughts on this?
You mention the move to youtube often. My question, im just starting off now, should I start on youtube instead of twitch? or should i transition like you did? Do both?
Thats what happening to me, its hard to entertain someone when nobody is watching you. And after 2h looking down to your stream seeing 0 viewers getting frustrated and ending the stream
I’m new to it as well but no camera yet ..soon I will have it when I have the 💰 but hopefully I can achieve some stuff without the camera in the meantime
@@StreamScheme Have you found that it generally ranks higher doing it that way or it's more of a personal choice? I'm VERY early on (like 2 weeks) into UA-cam/Twitch as my total of 2 YT videos will show hahaha
Can you make a “basic” growing stream for “dj’s” playing music not games, which is more harder in my mind to set a goal for, or I could be just not thinking of it all, but take it in to mind, cuz I am “personally” a dj on twitch, and I am having trouble growing, I’ve watched a few vids of yours, and I did take tips I could, but those were more for setting up streams.
hmmm i see. valuable information. now all i need to do is get my first viewer, and then my first follower. just minor details XD but i should probably get a camera. i bet that's why people don't click.
Thanks for the information i have 97 followers 4 subs just trying to get all the viewers back as i have been really ill lately. hoping me doing a new steam time will help
I’m just not sure how I get 300 people in the discord and only 35 show up. Trust me I know that the ones that are there are more important then the ones that aren’t there. It still is frustrating especially on the grind for partner. Things people don’t talk about
I wouldn't be focusing on Partner, and also 35 people from discord is a giant conversion rate. People have lives, or other interests, not everyone will be able to make it to every live stream.
I read the thumbnail as 80 to 875 lol. I would love to have 80 lol. Anyways I did just start on twitch after doing UA-cam for a couple years. I have a webcam and if you turn the sound down I look like I am engaging and having great conversations with viewers. Sadly no one is watching and if you turn the volume up I am just narrating what I am doing and smiling and engaging a non existent audience. I realized though that I get a lot of views after the livestream so I talk to those viewers now during the live.
What if your like me and don’t have any equipment. Like a mic or camera. I mean I have a camera but it won’t work for my ps5 without an adapter so it’s still useless
I tried doing a speedrun challenge in Untitled Goose Game where I had to drink when I failed certain tasks and I had lots of fun but unfortunately not many followers or new viewers tuned in in the first place :/
@@daisydyt5875 piece of advice; spamming comments isn't going to help you. Follow for follow isn't going to help you. It only leads to followers who don't actually care about your content
Guys... what do you think... I'm a Brazilian video producer and streamer, now I'm making a stream and 2 shorts/tiktoks weekly and 1 video monthly, is that a good way to produce content as I don't have much time guys?
I agree with all of this if the title were to be called “how to retain viewers” instead of “grow”. None of this actually brings in new viewers. I streamed for zero people for a while. Never got a new viewer until I grew a pretty substantial following on Instagram. Nobody clicks on new streamers. This video won’t actually help anyone grow viewership.
Still my biggest issue, is just people coming to watch in the first place. You can’t have retention or valuable goals without the viewers actually coming
I have a weird question... There's a niche where I have the most average viewers and followers but I do not really enjoy streaming for that niche. Should I stick to the niche or should I keep pushing the content I enjoy?
@@StreamScheme Sorry this is the first time im really watching your videos, i havent checked out your twitch or anything (until after this video) when it comes to gaming videos im basically always told that its about personality or being really good (or really bad), like you cant really make it big like Markiplier or anyong who has already been doing gaming videos since 10 years ago. With myself being autistic and having a dark sarcastic sense of humor (and no tone in my voice), and low ...VERY low self esteem, it kinda diminishes the "personality" portion and demotivates me to make anything. Do you have any ideas on what i could do to help myself break out of my shell? sorry for the long reply XD
10:57 fun fact I have Literally the name show in my channel name ( before I change it to this) Also fun fact/bruh fact.. I changed literally the channel name 9 times because i can not choose… However I’m not gonna change my UA-cam channel name ever again because I’d like it.
My problem is I feel utterly uncomfortable with the camera on me for several hours. I'm also self conscious and I don't have a lot of confidence to act like a movie star.
Setting goals is so easy! Thank you so much! Got so many ideas because of you! And I noticed, that DrDisrespect does it all the time too. Currently he adds a "Nuke Counter" for Warzone 2. Thanks again! :)

Welcome to UA-cam!!
Thank you for this. I think my only question is, if you get every piece of content out there, as best you can, how can you bring them to your streams?
Hey this is covered in my latest video actually I talk a lot about growing followers on twitch and on UA-cam to send to twitch. :)
This is an excellent video - I have used loose goals before, but now I may make them a larger part of the stream.

What about when you play a game for the first time? How do you create a goal for that without leaning into subs/follows?

The Danny Devito in the back is the best 😂
It's very difficult for me. 1 scheduling would need improvement but I work almost everyday so it difficult to even stream. I kinda stream when I want but my energy low. I'm bit of introvert an awkward so it is difficult to be entertaining. I'm more to support many streamers then anything.
How ? Do you stream for fun?

I had my first stream on twitch 2 days ago is it normal to have 1 viewer? Like I’m not sure is that a bot? And any tips on how to draw more views and followers? Does the title make a difference when going live? Help!
Glad to see you pumping content again with not as long time in-between. I appreciate your tips, and glad you switched platforms to make it easier to achieve and focus.
Awesome video 👍 stream scheme I'm still trying to grow and stream on my UA-cam channel
Thank you for this video stream scheme man
I'm a very slow growing and evolving streamer who's trying to pick up streaming as not only a hobby but a fun social environment for me someone who doesn't enjoy leaving home.. my new personal growth goal for this month is to just pick up a stream routine to stick to so I can have more consistent content to work with!.. or that's the plan just gotta stick to it.. is this a reasonable slow start?

So I stream FPS games like Cod and Valorant. What would a goal for an FPS stream look like in your mind? I know some long term goals I have that I could make aware to the viewers, but I am not sure what the goal for an individual stream should be.
can you do a video on how you edit?
I feel like most of editing is honestly just practice, lots of videos give you all these little tips to editing, but the only one that matters is just start.
Get a short recording, maybe a few clips, and just practice trying to make them feel and look good.
Editing has a lot of intuition, and you only learn that from doing, not from guides :)
@@StreamScheme thanks a bunch I’ll try that :)
I have an interesting question I want to ask.
I saw a popular streamer mention he used embedded views to boost page to the top of a category

Any reason why you set every stream as the "Just Chatting" Catagory?
Because I open all my streams doing chatting segments, and then swap to game categories.
@@StreamScheme Have you found that it generally ranks higher doing it that way or it's more of a personal choice? I'm VERY early on (like 2 weeks) into UA-cam/Twitch as my total of 2 YT videos will show hahaha
I quit for a while, does that affect my account's reach? Used to get an occassional 1 or 2 viewers a stream, now only 1 every few streams

Can you make a “basic” growing stream for “dj’s” playing music not games, which is more harder in my mind to set a goal for, or I could be just not thinking of it all, but take it in to mind, cuz I am “personally” a dj on twitch, and I am having trouble growing, I’ve watched a few vids of yours, and I did take tips I could, but those were more for setting up streams.

hmmm i see. valuable information.
now all i need to do is get my first viewer, and then my first follower. just minor details XD
but i should probably get a camera. i bet that's why people don't click.
Thanks!
Basically the same advice for 2022 but with slightly more emphasis on YT
Back to basics :) importantly to remind, revisit, and emphasise making good engaging content. Most sadly still just go live without thought.

@@StreamScheme good advice, thank you!

I’ve talked about growth both on platform and external a lot :) Not every video needs to be targeted to zero viewer creators, hope that helps!

I have a weird question... There's a niche where I have the most average viewers and followers but I do not really enjoy streaming for that niche. Should I stick to the niche or should I keep pushing the content I enjoy?
what i find works for me would be to stick with that niche until you build a community that will follow you to the content you enjoy. best of luck 🤝

Do streamers even do gaming videos anymore
I do?
@@StreamScheme Sorry this is the first time im really watching your videos, i havent checked out your twitch or anything (until after this video)
when it comes to gaming videos im basically always told that its about personality or being really good (or really bad), like you cant really make it big like Markiplier or anyong who has already been doing gaming videos since 10 years ago.
Bro I thought the picture said 80 views to 875😂
10:57 fun fact I have Literally the name show in my channel name ( before I change it to this)
Also fun fact/bruh fact.. I changed literally the channel name 9 times because i can not choose…
However I’m not gonna change my UA-cam channel name ever again because I’d like it.
Streaming for me is hard because I’m not a creative person and I don’t know how to keep peoples attention
My problem is I feel utterly uncomfortable with the camera on me for several hours. I'm also self conscious and I don't have a lot of confidence to act like a movie star.

Now that the pandemic is “gone” do you see everyone going back to their jobs.. is there a statistic of how many new 2019-2022 streamers survive in Twitch?
I see it being a lot rougher, and it already is.
I know dozens of Partnered streamers personally who can't make income anymore.
@@StreamScheme Id hear some medium streamers are just making income from YT and sponsors to pay for the bills, since subs are too volatile to even count on that % strange how the market changes
