Max Verstappen is ABSOLUTELY RAPID. Why? Well, he has the best car.
But, so does Perez. And where Max started 14th at Spa, Perez started second, And Max STILL won by just under 20 seconds.
So what makes him so outrageously fast? And are those two Red Bulls definitely the same? Because Max’s car looks like an absolute rocketship.
So I’m going to use my years of Racing Experience and driver coaching to show you HOW Max is finding so much time.
    Let's get into it.

For the record, Selling "Lord" titles in Scotland is a fraudulent scheme, since this type of mini-land sales are expressly forbidden by Scottish law. You don't even get to own that land, because the company you "bought" it from retains all rights to the land and can pretend to sell it again infinitely (they're skirting the legal boundaries on this). You can call yourself whatever you want under Scottish law, but that doesn't mean the title has any meaning, you might as well call yourself "Pokémon Master" and it'd be as accurate and legit. Please don't promote rip-offs.

That point about Max being patient and waiting for a safer moment to make an inevitable pass is the biggest sign of his improvement and growth. Young Max has an incident, current Max waits for a better moment. He is in a class of his own at the moment. • @EricW6800
      @EricW6800 Рік тому +27

Well...he actually didn't change that much when you would've followed him from his early karting days, where he also was pretty dominant in the end.
When you do not have one of the fastest vehicle/engine combination on the grid, you simply have to race differently to stand out and pick your chances.
When you are new you have to be ruthlessly clear in how you battle on track, earn your spot, and the risks involved doing that are valid as long as you don't have a chance on a championship.
You go for successes and exposure by finding the limits on almost everything.
He did that very well imo.
Even to a level where they had to change several rules to stop him and of course others of exploiting the gaps in existing rules.
Once circumstances changed Max changed his approach.
      In short,
He's imo the best adapting racedriver I've ever seen, and I'm a motorsport nut for over 40 years.

The thing is Max requires a car with sharpy front end that works every time but this comes with a tricky rear end that hurts Sergio's confidence. Checo prefers a more balanced front and rear end. That's the reason why Red Bull's second drivers have not been able to match Max's pace. Bcs Red Bull produce cars that suit his style way too heavily. But when you have a close title fight it's a big disadvantage in the WCC like in 2021. It's like wearing someone else's shoes and trying to match him. That's a big advantage in a WDC fight but it will hurt you in the WCC bcs when you have a title fight this close as last year you need your second driver to do well.

@@PDXmerckx oh yeo i forgot that. But at the start of the season Red Bull had a pretty good front end with stable rear end that Checo then could work better with the car. But since they introduced upgrades that made even sharpier the front end and this came with the rear end being loose which has been hurting Checo's confidence. It's just different driving style. But since Max is Red Bull's best chance to win championships so they should build a car around his style so it makes sense but as i said when you have a title fight like last year you need your second driver to do well. Bcs right now Checo is wearing Max's shoes and is trying to match him which is very hard.

It isn’t complicated. The reason Max is faster than his team mates (after Riciardo) and Hamilton was faster than his team mates is they are able to adapt their driving styles to new cars/new regulations better than their team mates as the season progresses.
Also as the season progresses, drivers like Max/Lewis are able to provide feedback to their engineers that demonstateably improves performance better than their team mates hence it looks like the car is built around Max/Lewis’s driving style (which in part is the case).
The end result is typically a driver/car package that emerges and is dominant for a period of time until the regulations change - Schumacher/Ferrari, Vettel/Red Bull, Hamilton/Mercedes, and now Verstappen/Red Bull.

Braking when straight means more rolling for the tyres to dissipate heat into brakes, if turning when braking, you end up with slight "drifting", which dissipate heat into the tyres
Excess heating causes wear, for brakes VS for tyres is the same, but brakes can dissipate heat into the air from the cooling system, so it reduces wear that way.
Late braking usually means ongoing braking whilst starting the turn, meaning that the front tyres are loaded on momentum and trying to turn on them will cause them to heat up and wear faster
Early braking usually means that there's less braking whilst on the turn, so less loading on the front to cause excessive heating on the tyres, and the car's momentum is balanced on both front and rear wheels when turning, so less excess heating and wear
Also, early braking means more heat dissipated into the brakes than into the tyres, allowing the tyres to be used for accelerating rather than braking
It's better to use the tyres to accelerate because it is rolling friction rather than static friction when turning. All late braking drivers will suffer from this issue, getting cornering speed at the expense of their tyres early on, and then when the tyres are worn, not able to make the fast cornering later on.
Tyres should be prioritised for accelerating over cornering rather than being forced to do both.

It always happens when there is an entire new design principle coming into play - some teams were always going to nail the regulations this year better than others, but there is a decent hope that it'll be ironed out in the coming years. The cost cap helps a bit with that process I believe, because the team ahead can't extend its lead as monumentally as Merc used to since the start of the hybrid era. I guess it remains to be seen just how close things will become in the coming seasons

PU is worth .2/lap as per Honda. Merc gained almost .5/lap last year, like Brazil. Last year the Merc was the lowDF/drag car, RB was the high df/high drag car. Some races like Zandvoort, the Merc couldn't handle the RB, but the fast tracks Merc had dominance so Brazil (like Spa) you see a higher deficit to the pack.

I believe these new regulations benefit top speed as it means slower corner taking, which means more wheel to wheel. It benefits red bull. And ill be honest i dont really know but it wouldnt be surprising if it also specifically damaged mercedes design principles
