    • @Tegneaufreak
      @Tegneaufreak 4 місяці тому +49

In essence he does get a lesser car. Its the way he ends up with it. They start both from zero. Then the car gets an update, Max goes quicker, Perez doesn’t. So the car gets developed more in the direction that makes it go faster and Perez is expected to catch up. Another update comes, Perez’ problem gets bigger, Max shaves another tenth off.
You could argue the car gets developed for 1 driver. You could also argue Perez just gets mentally murdered by Max.
Having 2 similar drivers would fix this. But then you get the scenario where 2 drivers run each other off the track.

    • @GhostonYoutube201x

he does get a lesser car it's just not what people make out, they build a car around max when that's not always the most beneficial, it's actually a hindrance once teams around you get into fights because you saw with mercedes they don't build around a driver and they won the constructor when max won his first WDC even though perez is better than bottas imo.

Max is able to cope with new limits of the car while his teammates can't.. it just happens that a stronger front end and loose rear (to increase rotation) suit Max's style.. hence that's why he's quick...All the greats had a similar preference, which translates to being quick round corners .. Alex has always been open and honest. Best thing that happened to him was leaving Redbull and being allowed to find himself and his real potential. Redbull is the Max show now, and for good reason, they have the car + driver + team combo perfectly balanced. Any other driver in that team is going to struggle unless you find one that has the same unique skills as Alex mentioned about Max in this clip.

kinda harsh how people slammed him. These same people are now doing the same to Checo while cheering for Alex. But obviously with Max in the Team nobody will be able to drive the car, if you look at his pedels in any typ of racing its ridiculous how perfect he is on them.

@trousers2 also let's not forget that Mercedes at the time almost always had a guaranteed 1-2. So getting a podium would've been extremely difficult. I wonder if Sergio was in the same car in 2020 if he'd have a drive in 21?

@@honeybadger1656 Exactly. Don't get me wrong, I can't see Alex winning a championship alongside Max, but he wasn't as far off the pace as say Pierre.
I think it's another case of a driver who overperforms in lesser machinery can't overperform in great machinery. Just like Bottas, overperformed at Williams, underperformed at Mercedes. Gasly, underperformed at RB, then overperformed at Alpha Tauri. Definitely doesn't mean they're lacking as a driver they just need to be utilised correctly

A bit dramatic. DTS has its “fake” moments and Netflix does create these little stories that seem to stoke issues beyond its reality. But it didn’t ruin the whole sport.
Also - long term fans of any sport always seem to get their panties twisted and complain about new fans, especially how they enter a sport. Who cares? Any sport needs new generations of fans and if they got into it through DTS why not. Naturally if they remain fans they’ll mature as they learn more about f1 over time.
I’ve been a “fan” of f1 since only 2012 or so due to my colleague being a long term fan of Motorsport. We all get into it different ways.

Everybody forgets Max has invested a huge amount of time behind race simulators to be incredibly focused. When other drivers relax, Max is behind the race simulator training for the next circuit. This is given him a huge advantage...Second Max is so focused that negative remarks etc. don't bother him... His personal circle, family members etc. are all race-focused (even his father-in-law) which helps tremendously allowing him to spend a lot of time behind race simulators outside the F1 circuit!

Yea, where Alex has a somewhat similar driving style to Max, Sergio has an 180 degree opposite driving style. That is why everyone struggles as Max's teammate. The Fact Sergio was able to do what he did with that insanely pointy car is really amazing, considering he had no confidence in the car after Baku where it was made pointier by the day literally. We forget this and mock those #2 drivers. I for one understand how bloody hard that must be. Bravo to Alex and Sergio especially for hanging in there.

I had to switch teams and find a setup that worked for me and I went about 0.2 a lap faster consistently.

Max is adaptive and can drive a car with front end sharp af where as his team mates just spin if they try to match his set up. And if they drive with with their preferred set up with less front end the lose time in corners and alas end up behind max. For eg in motogp if you have a bike that's as fast as other bikes in straights, breaking and acceleration but yours corners much better and tighter, you can enter and exit a corner much faster. That's what max can do with his very sharp front end. The issue is if people copy his set up, they just can't drive it on the edge and either spin or are no longer driving subconsciously and have to think about every action which again makes them slower

Red Bull cars are different from others because it is extremely sensitive so it takes a great driver and a consistent one to win races and break records. It's easy to misinterpret and make up stories about Max and Red Bull especially when you're biased but the generational talent is right there since karting to F3 to F1, and that cannot be ignored no matter how much the haters or fans of the other drivers dismiss it.
There's a reason why all teams want Max on their team.

If the car is thát much on the front end as Alex describes, how come Max can drive round after round like clockwork, with near identical laptimes over and over again? That can only mean Max doesn't perceive the car as such and has such a different driving style from the others? We have seen Max struggle in season beginnings where the car's behavior was not to his liking.
