The weight difference isn’t huge compared to a rwd car because the only thing needed to convert this to four wheel drive is to connect to the two fronts to the transmission. The drive shaft and rear differential unit is already there for the rear wheels regardless of the version you choose. This is completely unlike other four wheel drive cars which are based on front wheel drive cars-those cars need to add more components like a drive shaft, etc. to convert them.
Is connecting the two fronts to the transmissions difficult? Just wondering if it could be a cost effective way to pick up a used g80 with an ideal spec minus the awd then convert
Another great review. I’m impressed with how much information (and how succinct) are packed into 12 minutes. Well done. Enjoyed it. 👏🏻👏🏻
You have come a long way George - shooting the 1st track part 2 years ago - it happened a lot in between - and now wrapping up the shoot in jan 2022. I am confident it will be a good year - better than the last 2 for all of us. Like the M3 - great looking car and platform, the Comp is the highlight. What a tech tour de force - there is everything inside, 4x4 which you can adopt to your driving style, the UX is great too, the looks is...good, awesome car!
Love your reviews. I bought this car sans the bucket seats and ceramic brakes. I live in the rain cave known as Vancouver and drive to ski Whistler every week. X-drive is simply a must around here.
Congrats! Yours is the perfect use case for this car. Give us an update in six months on how its going.
hi, which tires did u get for the cold weather? im about to custom order mine and would like to switch to all seasons in the winter time.
Those wheels remind me of my 78 t/a wheels
Mr. MotoMan, here in the GWN, you may not want it and we NEED it. Whether its front or rear biased, good WINTER (and winter is great by the way) tires and a competent AWD system makes getting up and down my driveway and our travels better. A4 allroad for a family with two new driving teenagers, well, I hope they don't track it before I do...
Absolutely beautiful interior & exterior. Sounds amazing as well. Love it!
Another great review from George 💚 💚 💚
What a beauty powerhouse.😎💪👍
I remember when the M3 was the size of the new Honda Civic hatchback. 😏
I ve seen a m4 with 3.07 sec 0-60mph
Beautiful
Please put the options prices on the screen. If we're actually interested we have to sit there and keep pausing, write, pause, write, pause, write. It would be so much better if you'd put the options on the screen so we can pause at the end and review. Love the videos! That's my only suggestion!
DAMN YOU MOTOMAN! I kinda want one now. Where I live, this would make a respectable driver in the northwest when weather is a legit consideration. I'll send all the outbacks to hell, I would!
Same
I like the orange interior
This car is perfect 👍✌
Is the wish list a fait accompli? How does that automatic drive at slow speed with or without the X -Drive?
Sicky wicky
A lot of things he mentioned you don’t need I hate sport seats even if they were free I wouldn’t take them I rather get regular comfortable seats remember you aren’t racing most of people will be driving speed limits and in traffic lights unless your in Germany so for me sport seats are useless and I don’t even think they look good I rather have regular leather seats with heating cooling and massage if available and I don’t need no special brakes or carbon Fiber crap as mentioned most of the options that are extra you don’t need in real life unless you really like that stuff
I would pay for heads-up display and technology that you would use no need for special brakes most people won’t even drive that fast even regular ones are made for this car so I’m sure you can still stop
Even Benz have tons of extra stuff I’ll get the stock one if I buy one and maybe spend 3 to 4000$ on things that I would use daily and important
Have you reviewed the Giulia QV?
This engine albeit detuned is going into the new M2, which alledgedly is rear wheel drive only with the option of a manual transmission. Thats a car to look forward to for later on in 2022.
Agreed, I just dont want to pay $80k for an m2 but thats where we're going..
I would really love to get a Giulia QV but I’m in a town that gets 140” of snow annually. Gotta b xdrive then.
The M3 looks lovely in that frozen paintwork. Sounds like BMW have managed to engineer in the AWD system without losing the RWD dynamics, which is not easy. Great review as always, Mr M.
I do like all wheel drive in my 2013 Audi S5. I feel my wife can drive it safely. I does present understeer though. I feel that my 2011 Cadillac CTS-V with rear wheel drive actually handles better than the Audi. So Audi for safety CTS-V for performance and handling. New BMW is impressive but not for me today. Thanks for the video!
look at the stinger gt2 scorpion. I love having the adjustable awd system.
Ti Kanis George? Great video! I think I may purchase one of these M3 Xdrive Competition models at some point. Nice color but not my choice either. I may lean towards the Aventurin deep red, Brooklyn Grey, or Tanzanite Blue. And I will not be getting the carbon fiber seats as I am a thick Greek and will fit better into the regular sport seats. Yasou! 👍🏁
Καλή χρονιά, Τέντυ! All good choices in color, I , of course, would lean towards the blue:) Do yourself a favor and at least do a long test drive with the CF seats before saying no.
Seems Cadillac is the way to go if I want a go fast super-sedan and not the all wheel drive. Plus they are doing it right. Can't wait to see MotoManTV's review of the 2 BLACKWING siblings.
Beat me to it! Watching this made me realize we haven't seen MOTOMAN'S Blackwing reviews which seems odd (loved the V3 CTS-V review years back.)
@@rdollie1 indeed
The carbon roof is standard, and isn’t part of the “carbon exterior package” however, the front bumper ducts that didn’t get mentioned, are.
Carbon roof is not standard lol
@@Postingam2 carbon roof is standard on the M3. It’s standard on every full M car (not M-lite or SUVs) except the last M2. In the US there is a no cost option to delete the carbon roof and have a moonroof.
I was quite tempted to order one of these in lieu of my C8, but the transmissions and the looks of the C8 swayed me
Probably cheaper than $108k too!
@@ianthayer8688 Not really, you can't find a C8 these days without a 30-35K markup. 108K for this M3 is with EVERY optional component....you won't get a C8 with every option for that. Most M3 xDrive specs will probably be around 85-90K mark, since most won't add the 8K brakes, the $2.5K paint, etc... Also, this is faster than the C8 too, Edmunds did a comparison on them already.
@@ryan702_ I see 2022 c8s for sale with the LT1 package for 90k. Only has 232 miles. OK the m3 might be a little faster than a base c8 but you didn't mention one important factor, looks too. C8 better than that pig from m3 IMO
They need to bring back DCTs. That was a huge issue for me. The veloster has one but not an m3? dayum
In places like Ontario, Quebec, British Columbia, Alberta, and the US Midwest, it makes them much more attractive to potential buyers. More to your point you made about you living in Southern California, not needing it for yourself.
Picked mine up a weeks ago. 2 things you did not mention. You can program the car to switch from 4 wheel drive to 2 wheel drive, assign it to the m1and m2 buttons on the steering wheel, then switch while driving (great for drifting)! Also, the carbon fiber roof is standard. Otherwise great review! Having fun ....!!
How is it??? 😱 I’m thinking of trading in my c43 for a 2022 m3 comp xdrive
Bronco review coming anytime soon?????
5:10 Those freaking seats look !! 🔥🔥🔥
They are so uncomfortable
@@itguru2037 For real !? 🤦🏻♂️ but they look so nice with all that carbon fiber.
@@itguru2037 thanks for sharing. I've been torn. You own a new M3 and have the bucket seats?
@@ryanweston9677 if you are not going to track the car, don’t get buckets. As a daily driver get regular seats.
Seats are comfortable once you get in them. More so than you would think. You don’t get the ventilated option though.
The paint is ferocious. I’m strictly Audi, but I like this “funny” looking thing. I want to experience this.
They need a rs4
BMW Frozen paint is nice, but a pain to keep nice. I've had the last 2 generation S5's, and have always loved Audis. When I wanted to step up to the RS this year, I thought it would be an easy choice. Then, BMW added xDrive to the M3/M4....and now the RS can't even compete performance wise. Since Audi didn't change much interior wise from '19 to '22, I went to the M4 xDrive instead. The car is so good.
beautiful
From November 2021 to January 2022 there’re not 2 years !! 🤦🏻♂️😂
I’ve had 3 BMW 650i Cabriolets… all with X-Drive. They are quicker because there is no slip. Tires last longer, and when it rains in S. Calif. it’s slick from all the built up oil on the road so the X-Drive is reassuring. I will never go back to 2 WD.
3 650i Cabriolet? It's crazy man! I always buy M cars but probably never the same one...
@@jamisonz3365 2012, 2015, 2018… keeping the ‘18 forever. Love it.
#perfection
AWD puts down the power better
Porsche Macan GTs is 99k. So this is competition
Update. Bought a Macan Turbo before they switched to GTS only AND bought an xdrive g80!
❤️❤️❤️😘❤️❤️❤️
Got my IS500 for MSRP. Seems like a steal compared to this.
Quite a coup in this market . . . Congratulations!
Cadillac CT4/5 V!!!
Audi needs to come out with a rs4
My torque converter went bad. Got a new one, going bad again.
How can liability be a thing? The manufacturer isn't responsible for somebody speeding and losing control. They're not responsible when you turn off traction control and hit a tree. How would sending the torque to the back be any different?
$108K for an M3… what has this world come to?
Just buy a base model $77,100 starting price
6 figures for an M3 jesus car prices have skyrocketed... 120 for a GTR... 50 ish for an optioned mustang... etc etc etc
If it was round $75-80k with most of the options then it would have been swallowable. But coming at $108k, the package doesn't look at attractive, cause in that price range there are better sports car, many other alternatives.
I just built one for 80k. Almost none of those options sounded appealing to me though - his test car had 13k in brake and paint options alone!
@@richardh3587 it is the fastest M3/M4..perhaps most reliable generation, but BMW ultimate driving machine days are gone. When they have switched to electric steering and cars are now so big and near 4000 lbs.
@@richardh3587 same here. I ordered one with maybe just one option. Came out to be 80k, delivery time is approx 5-6 months.
Got mine for 86k. Don’t need exterior carbon package and skip carbon brakes. I skipped carbon seats too, but that’s a more debatable decision - I use it frequently and get in and out a lot. Also, I track other people’s cars. ;-)
@@francisgomes9976 I don’t disagree - was just responding to your point about the price
Someone tell this guy you can turn off the awd if u want
Wheels are hideous. I remember when when BMW had the best factory wheels, those days are over.
Why stop at the wheels? To wrap a capable chassis with such an ugly body is a shame. Are we back to Ultimate Driving Machine yet?
Hey George, can you clarify ~4:40 you said "it does not drive that much different than the sedan... the extra hundred pounds..." you are in a sedan, do you mean the RWD version
Drives like a audi RS model without the engineering material quality. Getting in and out of those seats as a daily street shopping trolley quickly becomes a pain, but nice once your in them.
I wish they sold the estate/wagon here. Then the awd would make sense
More reasons to buy an RS
My biggest issue with the M3 is the association. Meaning, I don’t particularly want to be associated with the stereotypical M3 buyer. Moving slightly upmarket to the M5 or M8 Grand Coupé, and the demographic completely changes.
So you want to be extra-stuffy? lol
I got the same feeling. I would prefer an X4M, X6M or M5M8 for the exact same reason. The stupidity of the typical 'enthusiastic M3 owner' is too much for me.😂
@@jamisonz3365 that’s it, you get it.
@@clickynote hahaha Thats fair
I have no idea what the stereotype is nor do I care. Guess I’m just another idiot driving around my m3 xdrive :)
$108k M3, no thanks! What you can get for that price new and and the used market just doesnt make sense.
In sh market I found some m3c under 80k, next year im getting one if i found one for around 70k
@@cazantrabant519 I'm also looking for an f80 M3 comp (2016-2018) for USD $60k!
Got mine for 80k. 100k+ is unnecessary
Rs3 would shyt all over this
lol no
Can’t bare to look at that nose 😞
What a nonsense car
Car is too big to be a proper sports car, M3/M4 are whales
