I've gotten kind of used to it by now. But that doesn't mean that I think it looks good now, it's still hideous and ruins the car for me. Otherwise it would have been an absolute banger. So the M340i must be it.

Great video as always - thanks for the content. Might have been better comparing M4 v 911 - as anyone needing the practicality of decent rear seats is probably more likely to buy the M3, or RS4 or Alfa. Unless they’re just play things and rear space doesn’t matter.
@@joevazquez9405 don’t get me wrong the new grill of the m3 is hideous, but darker colors like this green help to diminish the perceived size of it. Compared to white for example, this green helps blend the black grill to the dark green.
The G80 M3 is way more fun, special, the fact that it's a literal *sedan* with so much insanity, power, handling, drift easy on 1/4 of throttle, awesome body lines, way *better* sound with a good setup, full RWD and 510HP+ *as standard,* not even with BMW perfomance parts, the fact that the S58 can take 1000HP on *stock* internal and *way better* value for money in every way. And it's a *///M* car, cheaper on the long run, keeping it's value much better than a regular spec 911. Stock it's already insane but even a simple S2+ ECU tune with all stock parts on the RWD car (not even the AWD version) would make it way faster than the 992 AWD Turbo S especially on rolling race. Imagine the AWD version for the M3. BMW all day long. And it's coming from a Porsche fan.

First things first: Congrats Mat! Second: There are decent front facing seats that fit in the back of a 911 - with Isofix : Roemer Duo Plus. Can confirm they fit in a 991 and a 992. And get this - there are quite a few buggies that fit the frunk - even for my twins. No rear facing seats for the back though.
So basically, if you launch it properly the big 4 door saloon is faster than the small sportscar? Strange that Matt fails to launch the car as it should...
I cant say that I would like one over the other... they are just for completely different reasons (above awesomeness). If you need more practicality then the BMW will not disappoint (obvioustly) and if your a single person and like to just look good and have fun then the Porshe is the obvious choice! As always great review... I am learning a lot about cars and am getting a much better feeling for what my priorities would be in a car too (will be looking to buy something proper for myself in the near future!) :)

Fool, blame the EU not porsche, i have a 997 and its a dream to listen to compared to fart box BMW M3s. Thank god for the gt3 with lower production numbers doesn't need to hit the regs.
Compared to any car pre 2014 it's absolutely laughable. A C63 from 2012 ridicules it, same as an E92 or c6 zr1 which are all cheaper. I'm not much of a fan of the OPF downsized engines, even if the Performance numbers are nice they lack any form of driving pleasure. I currently drive a C7 Z06 and its pretty much the last performance car im gonna have, nothing which came out the last few years compares to it in it's price range, except for a 100k KM r8 v10 Buy used and pre OPF cars, people. Show them that we don't like what they're doing to ICE cars
Comparing a sport car against a sedan is always going to be interesting. The fact the BMW can carry a small family and their luggage and still track is actually quite amazing. The Porsche, well it does what it is supposed to do. No surprise there.
Porsche has a rev stopper when sitting in park or with the brake on, that in order to stop useless engine revs and noise. Just deal with it, you get the noise when driving it.
The 911 is the king of acceleration and braking, even with 60 less horsepower. The reason is in the position of the engine hanging from the rear axle. Although it was a handicap in cornering behavior (today totally neutralized after 57 years of continuous evolution and improvement), in acceleration what Watson says: the rear axle with the weight of the engine has more grip, if to this you add the four drive wheels is a veritable missile on the way out. (Carrera 4S version) The same happens when braking, with the weight of the engine the rear axle also has more grip for braking, and therefore it can mount larger brake discs than the competition without fear of locking.

Nearly two-thirds of the weight over the rear wheels gives amazing traction. Also less drivetrain losses without a long driveshaft and the Porsche is quite a bit lighter. Having said that the BMW will still be faster once you are above 30 mph.

😮: They needed the grill to be much larger so that they could have it closer to the radiator which was itself required to be pushed forward with the S58. The grill would have otherwise not allowed space/time to disperse and “hit” all areas of the radiators. They had three options. 1. Use a smaller (and less powerful) engine to move the radiator back, away from the grill bodywork. 2. Make the nose of the car jut out awkwardly far to give space between the grill bodywork and the radiator assembly. 3. Make the grill bigger. They went with #3.

Odds are the m3/m4 will plummet hard in value. I bought a 2015 M4 for $72k, I looked at used 2014 carrera for 74k, I bought the m4. Traded the m4 in 2018 with 30k miles, the trade in value was around 40k. Right now, 2014 911s with 40k ish miles are fetching $60k
I saw one earlier today and despite people saying it looks better in person, I found it awful. Looks like a goofy caricature of a BMW. They're lucky Mercedes are giving the C63 a 4 cylinder so both cars are equally ruined
Me, being an Australian, cannot believe how close these 2 cars are in price in the UK. In Australia the M3 Competition starts at $170,000 AUD (£90,000) while the base 911 Carrera starts at $270,000! (£143,000)

When you see the regular kidney design, it looks boring and very similar to the older version. This is different and new.

@@ApolloGP The G80 M3 is way more fun, special, the fact that it's a literal *sedan* with so much insanity, power, handling, drift easy on 1/4 of throttle, awesome body lines, way *better* sound with a good setup, full RWD and 510HP+ *as standard,* not even with BMW perfomance parts, the fact that the S58 can take 1000HP on *stock* internal and *way better* value for money in every way. And it's a *///M* car, cheaper on the long run, keeping it's value much better than a regular spec 911. Stock it's already insane but even a simple S2+ ECU tune with all stock parts on the RWD car (not even the AWD version) would make it way faster than the 992 AWD Turbo S especially on rolling race. Imagine the AWD version for the M3. BMW all day long.
And it's coming from a Porsche fan.

Odds are the m3/m4 will plummet hard in value. I bought a 2015 M4 for $72k, I looked at used 2014 carrera for 74k, I bought the m4. Traded the m4 in 2018 with 30k miles, the trade in value was around 40k. Right now, 2014 911s with 40k ish miles are fetching $60k

I saw one earlier today and despite people saying it looks better in person, I found it awful. Looks like a goofy caricature of a BMW. They're lucky Mercedes are giving the C63 a 4 cylinder so both cars are equally ruined

Me, being an Australian, cannot believe how close these 2 cars are in price in the UK. In Australia the M3 Competition starts at $170,000 AUD (£90,000) while the base 911 Carrera starts at $270,000! (£143,000)

Mate in India entry level 911 is 160 k, yes it is .
Im pretty sure not even the E36 was ever 55k. Inflation adjusted it's about 65k in todays money.

The base Porsche in the US is $116k, and the M3 competition is $87k..... Can't really compare.
The big grill is growing on my, only on the M3 though, some how making the car longer helps it for me
