Electro-Harmonix (EHX) Rarest Pedals!

- In this week's episode, we travel to my good friend Daniel Danger’s private Batcave in Massachusetts. To my knowledge, Daniel has the largest collection of Electro-Harmonix pedals in the world, so it's a match made in heaven. The jams are also pretty baller.

I feel like this is a cry for help but we're all too impressed and envious to hear it.
For each "He has the box" the look in his eyes grows a bit more desperate
Woah, you know you can do alot of damage to people with the truth..
He’s in desperate need of human contact.
@@brunoekman156 😂
@@lcbryant78 well,...that,...a pair of testicles,...some shampoo... and a comb! 🤣😳
This is 30 minutes of Josh's "I have to have that pedal" face
Every "he has the box" made his envy stronger
Yes indeed
He looks just ANGRY at times! XD
@@mongobigmuff lol Yes! Look at him at 22:07 he can't hold it anymore
he is basically sad all the episode....ehehehhe
“He’s In the Box!” Legit had me in stitches!!!!!
The facial expression when he's throw in makes it too.
yup, me too
Lolz. Best In joke ever
Nick is so small, he lays deep in the pocket!
I think I'm broken now. I never used to care about the box, now I need the box.
Feels like Josh is just barely holding back his rage at how much crazy stuff Daniel has.
nick had to keep giving him cookies as a reward for not having tantrums.
I feel this so hard in this video
the twinge of jealousy that flashes across his face every time another original box gets pulled out. "wait. is that THE BOX?"
He's so going to kill him and steal his pedals!!!
Daniel: Most of these didn't survive because they weren't soldered very well
Josh: *Smacks the controls like they're trying to grab his junk*
Yes!!! That's what I was saying above, did it not seem like he was trying to break one o those faders on the synth? Jealous much??
Maybe he was just excited and having a good time.
I mean Josh can probably fix anything that gets broken
@@willowsparks4576 if they aren't soldered that well then him fixing them would probably improve it lol
When dan sang "he has the box" hahah, clearly a man of culture
That first jam might be the best in show history
True
All of them were pretty damn good.
Agreed
Agreed
100%
Noise Legos is my new favourite way to describe pedals to non pedal folk
Great name for a band, you’d prob get a cease and desist from LEGOS
That's officially clever!
@@damagecontrol60 they can open up for Face Diaper!!
I used to say crayons but they are both so appropriate
1st jam:
"... Its totally unusable*
They record the best jam on jhs show history.
Yea but the next time it turns on it will gave a completely different sound
They didnt use the Octave multiplexer
"I don't want to be a corporate sellout" this episode is about one man's extreme brand loyalty
Its about mental illness. Collecting/hoarding(same thing) is a sign of being crazy
I wouldn't ever consider brand loyalty to be selling out; he isn't being paid by EHX, hell he isn't even telling us to buy these pedals, he's just presenting his collection and knowledge for the sake of preservation.
@@Ottophil Really?
@Glum Sullen Evolutionary biology doesn't disagree.
@@Ottophil im autistic. not a joke.
"This is fun to play with even though it has no musical usability."
"Aphex Twin has accepted your challenge"
Aphex twin would make 6 whole albuns with only that pedal.
Reminded me a lot of Throbbing Gristle as well.
Noise LEGO is now my favourite term for pedals.
This is by far the best JHS video to date.
Loved seeing Josh being out-pedaled for 30 min. straight. :-D
if you come for the king you best not miss
And you brought the pedals the last JHS EHX pedals video lacked.. Kudos to your collection.
@@DanielDangerTME thank you for making me laugh through the whole episode. this was epic. you are a freak, but in a really good way.
"I make screenprints" - my thought throughout was "Is this the same Daniel Danger?" His artwork is incredible - he's huge on that front. Had no idea he was also a musician
ive been known to riff a few chugs in my day
WHY DOES THIS SNARE SOUND SO PERFECT
It does for sure!
Exactly what I was thinking. That whole busted up looking kit sounds incredible.
Because it's in the box.
they also use the Colour Box v2 with the drum kit
*IT'S IN THE BOX*
I think we need a part 2. That room has so much gold.
YES PLZ
“I want to enable him.” 😂😂
Me too 🤣
That guitar synth thing you demoed first actually sounds amazing
I know i was expecting a fart after how hard he emphasized it wwas unusable and that thing sounds awesome haha
Tom Morello vibes
It's even better if you actually tune the VCOs to musical intervals instead of whacking them all to max, lol.
@@juliatruchsess1019 burn!
@@DanielDangerTME I have the VCO set up procedure somewhere.
You know, for being stuck in a dark, tiny room with a Chuck E. Cheese head, Nick really stayed in the pocket on that last jam. Good look, Nick.
This is now my favorite video on UA-cam. Thanks for taking the time and helping to fuel my weird EHX obsession.
SAMMMME I love my ehx
why do I meet Gregor on every Video I watch? Similar fetishes?
John Cruz would love to make you a bass.
EHX ist the best, in my opinion the most resourceful and relatively inexpensive company.
That’s what I was going to say.
The face Josh made realizing the dude has the box was epic
These are all super fun, but man that snare sounds amazing.
The fact that he kept using the puppet to explain the history of the crime dog.
I expect a "Nick in the box" special edition merchandise/JHS pedal/something in the near future with a special edition pulp sci-fi comic made by Nick.
A miku style pedal but it sounds like nick, instead of amp in a box it's a nick in a box
And can we appreciate Josh’s playing? He’s fantastic.
In the start when he said his studio is in Easthampton I thought "oh wait, I wonder if he's in the same building as Healey Guitars, it looks similar" and then a minute later, there's Josh playing a Healey. My worlds are colliding here and I'm not sure how I feel about it.
I wasn’t prepared for those jams
They went so hard
Rams Head box Is definitely the Ultimate “He Has The Box!”🤘👽
hence the vuvuzelas!
This is a big statement, but halfway through and this is my favorite JHS show episode so far. Nick in the box, the tasty proto punkish jams, a Nels Cline reference. Josh, Nick, Addison, and Daniel, thank you for brightening up my Friday double shift.
Totally sticking it to Rhett in the second jam. Best. Slide. Ever.
that bass tone with the muff was insane. been chasing something like that for years
Right around the 22 minute mark when the janky reverb and the red big muff box comes out Josh's internal collector is going off the rails.
The guitar synthesizer was used on Josh Klinghoffer's Pluralone album "I Don't Feel Well". The song is called "The Night Won't Scare Me" and it sounds amazing!
Good knowledge we are all really impressed
Dude, thank you. That song was badass. The Red Hot Chili Peppers really picked a talent to fill John's place while he was gone, but we're all glad he's back
That song is cool, thanks for the tip
"He's In The Box" My daughter and I both hurt people's ears from literally laughing out loud.
30 minutes of EHX weirdness, He’s in the box, and a Rocket from the Crypt Tshirt. This might just be the best video I’ve ever seen on UA-cam!
the man has a drum box and beats up a grabber into a big muff. truly a man of exquisite taste
"He's in the box" Full circle people, full circle.
I've been watching this show pretty regularly for the last 2-3 years, and this is without a doubt my favorite episode.
I don’t know why with a lot of these jams I expect Anthony Keidis to come out of nowhere and start doing his thing…
It’s interesting to see Josh’s face contemplating pedals and boxes he doesn’t have.
this is probably the best video this channel has ever produced. these two need to make this a weekly thing, Daniel and Josh is the new dawn of awesome TV
josh and daniels fireside noise lego chats
They should assist The Aquabats! and have a lab in the Battle Tram.
Yes! Make this a recurring thing! I will totally pick you guys up from the airport and chauffeur you around for free. (dead serious offer)
This is a classic episode that I know I'll come back to.
These jams are giving me a first QOTSA album/early Desert Sessions vibe.
This is THE BEST pedal video I have ever seen, I cannot even think of a close comparison
This man's brain is a collector's item.
I am not the only one who sings the "He's got the box" jingle."
Who doesn´t? 😂
It's "he has the box"
@@joseislanio8910 You're exactly right.
So... how many times can a spoken word be shared and accidently changed until it still hasn't changed the meaning. How often can a word be changed, all changes overseen?
How many times do we have to be saved by our guardian angels, that are pitying us, doing so? We poor humans fail by the simplest tasks. We're "got" lost, literally!
This goes out to the guardian angels, who find the mistakes: Thank you so much! We're not worth it being encouraged to shut up! Thank you, thank you! ;-)
Did I just write all that... ?
🤣
@@marcofioravanti4176 k, buddy, have a nice day
My gf is not that much into pedals, but she does the jingle every time she sees a pedal box 🤷♀️
So actually the guy behind the ehx digital delays is David Cockerell, who also worked for EMS. When he went to Akai (don’t believe the Headrush is related at all) he used the tech to make the S612, first of their iconic S-Series samplers. And it’s super unique, might be one of the only samplers that has EHX like sliders for sample start/End, loop control, knobs for a pitch LFO, and something super awesome and rare: overdub at the press of a button, all on an amazing 12-bit sampler. I haven’t seen the original 16SDD, and always wanted to play one, because of how much I love the S612
Thanks for returning the nightmares with the McGruff stuff. I was the smuck in the McGruff suit (retired Phoenix PD, community relations bureau 91-94) dancing and miming to that stuff. In the end I went back to patrol and plainclothes in south/south central Phoenix hoping someone would shoot me.. Though it does help a little, letting that dark ugly secret out after all these years.
Daniel Danger has been my favorite artist since I saw his work in Hi-Fructose magazine about 10 years ago. This is like worlds colliding for me!
Ooooh, thanks for the tip, anything Annie and Attaboy promote is usually pure gold!
dammmmmn, that is some fun stuff!! And looks like he's promoting the work with jigsaw puzzles... brilliant!!
Webster’s Dictionary defines “Irony” as:
Daniel: “I’ve spent 10-15 years, trying to track down this display box.”
Josh (in his head): “Oh my god! This guys is a nerd!”
"Noise Legos" is the best phrase ever
The snare drum in the box sounds fantastic
"Ice Sickle Brainstem" song definitively has to release in a 7" split with Melt Banana
Whoa my octave multiplexer has the “senitivity” knob! I never even noticed 😂
Thank you for the "Ride the Snake" reference. Probably one of the most deep cut SNL sketches of all time lol
Wish this episode never ended..epic.
awesome episode. Too bad Joshs henchmen had to whack this guy after it aired to get ALL the boxes
hey it me.
Need a EH tattoo..
Great job Daniel - thanks for sharing your passion with us. And also McGruff …
The Collector
He sat mildly composed on his chair in the studio, which had evolved into an internally-facing museum...a collection that would feed his obsession and drive it at the same time. To call it a self-oscillating feedback loop would be an irony too grand to behold. And yet there at the desk sat the collector, brooding over his magnificent trove like a divine shepherd of golden fleeced rams, never to be sheared, never to be sold, purely for the awe of the gods.
A job well done.
He sat beside another; a guest in his studio; another collector spoiled with both envy and pride for the accomplishments of his compatriot. A sibling rivalry of sorts ensued at the disclosure of one sacred treasure after another.
These were the best days of our lives.
This was no tactless hoard of some deranged hermit stockpiling nonsense in the chambers of his insanity. This was a masterpiece of curated works of art. Though his presence gave a deft betrayal of silent contemplation at all times, there was something else lurking in the measure of his posture...something in his eyes that lay beneath the asymmetrical crop of locks strewn hastily about his brow. In his relentless pacing, there was, dare I say, a hint of interruption in the continuity of the conscious mind...a madness that propelled itself forward on the insatiable desire for more.
They came in droves to watch the two converse...the collectors. But it was the witnessing of the madness set free, there in the studio, that they truly longed and chased. Stroking celestial melodies on the strings of tempered ambition. The Collector and his compatriot came to a resolve.
Some say he still resides in that place of pure obsession. Others tell tales of a voice heard in the wilderness echoing the laughter of his pursuit. If you seek him you may come across a stranger in the dark, and if by chance he grants you exchange, be not surprised to hear the name of Daniel Danger.
Blown away by Daniel Danger's art! Thank you so much for turning us on to his creativity.
That guitar synth is just glorious
One of the best and most troubling episodes ever
Nick screaming in the box had me cracking up!
This is the exact definition of the phrase “nerding-out”….. and its awesome
This is video I didn't know i needed! Thanks
Saw the title and thought Josh was just flexing on us again😂
The sounds out of the 16 second digital delay might have been made by Frank Zappa organically.
The production value is amazing
The current title does not do this video justice. What a fun ride! One of the best videos yet! I love the field trip!
SO MANY HE HAS THE BOX MEME. THANK YOU FOR MAKE MY LIFE BETTER.
Joshes attitude towards the begining of this video. Sitting in a room with all these pedals he doesn't have, doesnt have the box for .... I can see him losing his mind.
I read that Akai employed David Cockerell to adapt his EHX 16-Sec Delay design into Akai’s first sampler, the S612 round 1985. David Cockerell being one of the greatest electronic instrument designers with EMS London, then later one of EHX’s most innovative designers, then later helped to popularize digital sampling instruments with Akai, and so on to the present day. Very interesting yet not widely documented electronic design history.
Daniel Danger and Josh Scott, this day doesn't get any better
I've been collecting Danger art for years and OBNE Haunt is my favorite fuzz and and and this is the best episode you've ever done
Are we not even talking about the GRABBER.
EHX will go down as one of the best Effects Company EVER
For the design interested that typeface is Futura, on the ad version face plate. Also used by Moog.
The "house" typeface E-H use is Eurostile. Also used by Sequential Circuits.
Tickets go on sale this Friday for the band that played that first jam but it’s already sold out.
how many people need to beg ehx to reissue that synth thing, because goddman i want one
Not sharing the sound of the solid-state reverb is a C R I M E !
This is the best JHS Show yet. The He's In The Box scene is one of the best bits of the channel now. I wish I had someone to dig in the trash for pedals with.
Man, I didn’t see the X Crime Dog X plot twist coming! Been a huge McGruff Fan since a couple months and just found out about the X Crime Dog X LP the other week
This guy... this is THE GUY.
Need this jingle for Dan: “He has Mcgruff” lolz
HE HAS MY FAVOURITE BASS!
13:09 i clearly wasnt ready for that. what a nice chapter of jhs madness
Tell me there's going to be a Part II to this! So many more pedals to see!
Nice Rocket from the Crypt shirt
Possibly the most soulful playing YET
"HE'S IN THE BOX! (-look of complete and utter terror flashes across drummer's face)"
I say Daniel Danger for President!
Noise legos! perfect
Incredible episode, favorite so far
I really enjoyed this one. You guys keep getting better with each video.
I demand a space disco episode.
@Jeff Keene YES second that, and GIVE US THE STEMS!! I'd go cosmic in seconds
Don't we all remember when we got our first Muff?
I remember the aroma!
I remember sniffing the box for 30 minutes while staring right into the Ram's head's eyes.
Fantastic episode and what an incredible collection. I love passion for things that compels collecting... it's a really pure thing. Also, excellent drum recording... like for real, they sounded great!
This is my favourite JHS episode, I'm always interested in unusual or rare EHX pedals. Thank you 🙂
Josh looks so uncomfortable being around so many pedals he doesn't have
We need a NOISE LEGOS t-shirt!
I need a shirt with different colored Lego bricks with different Boss pedal logos and names being connected in a line with the title "Noise LEGO"
So Josh found his electro bro!!! Amazing episode! Love the jams.
Lovin the deep dives! Cheers Josh and Daniel!!
