Great video as ever. Amazing scenery.
Thanks Mike, much appreciated!
Enjoying your adventures very much. Looks like a very tempting alternative to the last leg of the Frances..
Yes, I would agree. It’s a good way to avoid all of the congestion on that Sarria path
Great video and photos thanks
Thanks Anton, much appreciated:)
I will be doing the Invierno after the Madrid route. Thank you for this guide!
Thank you for the kind words. I hope that you have a great time. Make sure to check out Las Medulas and keep a back-up of food in your bag :)
I definitely took notes on Las Medulas and the food supply issue. @@harryjamesroth
Lovely relaxed vibe to this particular Camino journey. Some stunning photography of a very unique landscape. Always look forward to your Camino instalments. Update on our Camino - we’re about to head deep into the Meseta, a section I’ve been particularly looking forward to.
Thank you as always Stephen. You could always take a day trip from Ponferrada to go and visit Las Medulas and then head back to rejoin the Camino Frances route? Great to hear you’re update :) I ended up with such a big headache after a day on the Meseta so make sure you stock up on fluids and something to snack on before you set off. Wishing you all the best.
Thank you for the guidance, looks spectacular and could be a slight detour of the Camino Frances route
Hi Brian, you could detour from the Camino Frances at Ponferrada and return quite easily. I’d say book your accommodation in Las Medulas in advance though just to be on the safe side. It’s definitely worth it and I would have done that had I known about the place when I did my Frances walk. Best wishes :)
I agree with Harry - but think very hard before you take the Invierno as an alternative, less traveled route to Santiago! Perhaps pop back to the Frances 😊
@@joesharratt2298 thanks Joe :)
@@harryjamesroth I don't suppose you have details of the hostel at Las Medulas. I think I will include this as part of my Camino. Thank you
@@briangriffiths7905 Hi Brian, we actually stayed in a town called Orellan which is next to Las Medulas. It’s a high up town which is nearby the Mirador Las Medulas viewing platform and where you can access the mine tourist attraction from. The town of Las Medulas itself does have a couple of Albergues but they were fully-booked sadly as I would have preferred to have stayed there myself I think.
Other than the enforced fasting for pilgrims this looks like a really lovely Camino. If I ever decide to go this might be better for me since I don't like crowds. Thanks again Harry:-)
Hi Dani, yes, the ‘enforced fasting’ was the only downside hahaha. It really is a beautiful walk - there’s a few things that I would do differently now with the benefit of hindsight. I’ll do my best to impart all of that info in these videos though! But it is 100% the route to take if you want to avoid the crowds :)
