Stephen Wonderboy Thompson - How To: Striking Combo W/ Angle Change

Поділитися
Вставка
  • Опубліковано 1 жов 2024
  • In this weeks episode I add on to the shuffle jab to create a quality striking combo that I used in my fight vs Jorge Masvidal. By adding a cross, another shuffle, and another cross, this combo has become deceptive to the competition. With the added angle change this combo also adds an evasive element as well. I hope you enjoy this weeks break down! Thanks for watching!

Your technique is correct. But, it will only work if you throw your jab before your foot lands. And, the third punch has to coincide with your sidestep also landing before the foot sets down. Even better if you follow with your left lunge punch or side attack punch instead. 1,2,3 with no gaps in timing. No time to rechamber before punching.

Ku Ku Klock For me Silva will always be number 1 the things he did in his prime were ridiculous dodged punches like he was in the matrix and made it look easy. I’ll agree Conor is a great striker but his style is limited so that when facing sloppy brawlers like Alvarez he looks on another level but when facing someone that can take a punch to give one back like Diaz he doesn’t look nearly as good. Wonderboy is a great striker all round but he hasn’t been able to finish many top guys if any at all.

Stephen Wonderboy Thompson is an awesome person, athlete, martial artist, and fighter. And even when he gets robbed of a fight, for example: Darren Till, he still has a good attitude. The most memorable fight that I enjoyed watching was his fight against Jake Ellenberger who dismissed karate as useless. Or when he dismantled Johnny Hendricks and a dangerous Jorge Masvidal.

That lead foot pointing to the right, that seems real bad for eating leg kicks, and hard on the knee. Is this how it's done in karate?
I'm not knocking Wonderboy, dude obviously know his shit, I'm just curious.

I have a question for @wonderboy do you do weighted lunges for explosiveness to make those quick angle changes or is there a better exercise for that?

This is the best channel I’ve ever subscribed to. It’s nice to see straight up karate done in an effective way. This is it! 😎
