Corona Razor Tooth Saw, Out-Saws The Silky Gomboy 240
Вставка

- The Corona Razor Tooth Saw cut 5 slices of a 4” branch in 92 pulls. It took the Silky Gomboy 240... 145 pulls. Because the branch did not have a consistent density, I tested them on a 2 x 4 this time only making 3 slices each. The Corona Razor Tooth Saw took 162 pulls and the Gomboy took 167. Now that’s pretty much the same speed, right? Not really. The Corona is 5 years old and somewhat dull while the Gomboy is rather new and still very sharp. Amazing!!!

Hi David ! I select my saws based on the energy I got left AFTER cutting down wood.
A shorter saw will require more pulls, let's take the Silky pocketboy 130-8 as an exemple, it will need more pulls than a longer $5 folding saw, but you will cut more efficiently with it. Possibly faster too. Anyway, cool test, I use the outback pocketboy 170 in my videos, highly recommended.
Now try it again but with similar blade shapes. My curved saws cut faster than my straight ones, even within the same brand.
Ythis is a good presentation on comparing these saws. Helps me in choosing the one I would buy. Thanks David.
The corona for me
Me too.
Great presentation Mr west thank you for sharing 👍👌🔥
Another informative vid, thanks David.
I find that because the Silky only cuts on the pull stroke, it will cut more aggressively if I ease up on the forward stroke and put more effort into the pull stroke. It's a different method of the sawing motion. It makes a difference. Don't know if the Corona is this way or not.
Corona cuts on the pull also.
If the Corona was new, it’s likely it would outperform the Silky. :)
Your cat is so cool...
Tybee's a great cat.
Interesting video David thanks for sharing, God bless !

I have both the 7" and the 10" Corona models. They are Excellent 💯👍😎
Very nice!
Both saws are good but you are the spark master💥💥🔥🏆🥇💪🇺🇲
Pretty good saws.
I wish the Corona had a sheath option like the Silky does. I sometimes hang a saw on my belt while hiking to clear some of my favorite trails. I have a generic non-folding saw with a scabbard but it's low quality.
I actually enjoy both, very much.
Make one
@tomcatt998 I was thinking the same thing I don't know to make one out of leather, light wood or even thin aluminum metal. But I'm gonna do something.
I like my Corona saw so much i cut paperwood for a living and i leave my Stihl 320 chainsaw home in the shed because i can cut and load my truck in half of the time then when i was using my noisy chainsaw. It's the Corona handsaw for me!!!!
They’re great saws!
a handsaw instead of a chainsaw - and faster this = a bad Joke.
Who saw the lizard jump out? 😂 Around 1 minute mark.
That is also my experience
I own three Silky saws and love them but…..I will buy a Corona just to prove to myself. Can always use another pruning saw and especially at lower price compared to Silky’s.
Thanks
You’ll like it.
Too fast to count David, but I too have the Corona . The Corona was $20 at Lowe's and also has the Japanese blade. There's quite a bit of difference in the cost between the two.
The Corona I bought closes all the way back, leaving no exposed teeth. A newer version, perhaps?
I think so.
🪚🪚🪚🪚🪚🔥🔥👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
Do you think the curve in the corona's blade could be part of it?
Yes, it holds to the wood better… don’t know how to explain that “feel”.
Plastics are durable.
What is your sharpening technique for your Mora and other knives?
Smith’s diamond stone with a fine and coarse side.
@@DavidWestBgood2ppl Thanks. I am severely lacking at that skill.
Will this cut live wood
Yes, with ease.
OK, THAT Corona looks good, but I purchased a nw Corona blade for my bow saw and that blade was worthless from the day it was new. Unusable!
They oughta make it right, to you.
Yes, they should have, but they told me to return it to the purchase place. I discovered that Corona would make them eat it, so I wouldn't do that to a local business. Never again Corona for me.@@DavidWestBgood2ppl
I don't blame you. That's unethical!
And the gomboy costs considerably more than the corona. I think I'll stick with my corona.
I always just thought that the Silky was a better saw till I started using one.
What are you basing these "broken plastic" assumptions on? I've top boarded fire rolls with that saw.
