Great pushes in that heat, Jess! I bet the 738 was heating up inside somthing terrible until the engines could start once you got it back into the alleyway to K3. The FO got his sun shades up quick once you turned the plane around! Super accurate stuff My Lady, and your smile melts hearts! ❤

Enjoy your videos. My Dad worked for Pan Am at JFK for many years. One of his jobs was on the ramp. Back in the 80's I was able to go to work with him and I remember doing push backs with him I enjoy going to the airport.

I understand acclimatization and that all the rampers and other personnel out in the environment eventually get somewhat acclimated to the heat, but still have to throw a lot of respect your way. When I wore a younger man’s clothes, I did asphalt paving in Fresno CA. in the summer and it seemed like you couldn’t pack enough fluids into you, you’re a tough group. Thanks for another great day in the life of video.

Worse thing for me is going out in high temps and humidity and really kicking it late in the day when its already broiling out..Thats Babtism by fire… You folks definitely make it happen out there!!!Good job always!

@@ladyandtheramp I had a CDL for years…. I moved lots of things with bad visibility due to the size and blindspots…. No Jet’s but big and lots of other moving obstacles fore and aft. . Inpatient people who are easily aggravated need not apply for your job…or back boat trailers or dock a boat…

You are correct! The tarmac has steel rods in the concrete to reinforce it and it creates more heat. I want to take the temperature of the concrete the next time I work!
You know, being able to actually drive the pushback tractor would be a nice X-Plane 12 feature, given it looks like something that takes practice to get good at, but also because then I can put it where I want it for engine start.

I will have to ask! I see a Gross Vehicle Weight (GVW) range of 80,000 - 135,000lbs but am unsure if that is the actual weight of the tug or if that is how much it can push. Maybe you know that answer? 😁
@@ladyandtheramp We dealt with some heavy lift fork trucks . An apples/ oranges comparison no doubt but these things had some serious low hanging counter weights on the rear of the frame. The Tugs look stout. Lot of weight. Lot of power and torque I’m guessing.. I enjoy seeing you folks in operation ! Great team work!!
From the looks of it, both planes seemed to have been left 'in the road', so to speak. Were they then gonna move to the taxiways after you left them? And I am not gonna complain about the heat here in NY, (just like I said to a channel host who's in Southwest Oklahoma and testing robot lawnmowers in pretty much the same temps as you). Stay frosty.
Good observation! Yes, the were both left in the road. Our aircraft was cleared and so was another. They pulled to the other lane that was clear. We had great wing walkers that kept us all safe 😁👍

I like the 737max or the A321. The airbuses have a higher clearance so you can see the main gear better. But I like both of those aircraft because they are bigger, and heavier…so they are actually easier to push 😁

Communications for pushback to crew! Pilot will say brakes release clear to push! Or brakes set before disconnect of the tow bar! Push back will say things like starting pushback,aircraft all button up clear to start engines 1 or 2,push back complete brakes set

Your assistant who disconnected the tow bar and then the by pass pin clearly had height issues with closing the coms panel. Clearly struggling to secure the panel fasteners, she uses her wand to try to reach the upper fastener. While she is trying to secure the panel , engine two is spooling up and the beacon light is on. The 737 max is a taller airplane then previous versions of the 737, she should have been away from the airplane during engine start and beacon light on.
The max’s are definitely taller than the other 737’s. She was actually the tallest person on our team that day. She had to improvise with her wand to get the final latch closed. She was still outside of the ingestion zone of the engine. And stays very aware of where she is at in reference to the engine.
Is it hard to learn how to maneuver the planes with the steering? Is there a simple method you use to remember which way to steer to move the plane in the direction? I had a small camper trailer for 10 years and I still could never remember how to back it up correctly. 🙄🤣
It is hard to backup small trailers! Like the smaller airbuses…they get squirrly quickly! Pushing planes is the opposite of backing up trailers… You turn the aircraft in the direction of where you want the tail to go 😁
The key to push back airplanes, is not to fixated on the nose gear, also small movements on the steering wheel of tug results in large movement on the main gear which can be over 70 and more feet away. Look at the tail, thats where your going. Training, practice
Some of them do. It depends on what gets you are at. The tugs are assigned to each gate…so sometimes you hit the lottery with certain gates with covered tugs 😁
I have not heard of a mandatory retirement age like the pilots have. I have been working for almost 3 years 😁 not very long compared to many of my coworkers
When you have to push a plane that far in reverse, do the passenger air miles roll back in reverse as well? “Welcome aboard ladies and gentlemen. For our air miles passengers, today’s trip will give you 20,000 miles. The pushback process was negative 13,000 for a net of 7,000.”

A 737 can range in weight from 129,000-209,000lbs…so I can’t imagine them being that close weight?? But I am not a mechanic… so what do I know 😂😂

Our uniforms are navy blue. With the neon yellow vests.

The key to push back airplanes, is not to fixated on the nose gear, also small movements on the steering wheel of tug results in large movement on the main gear which can be over 70 and more feet away. Look at the tail, thats where your going. Training, practice

Some of them do. It depends on what gets you are at. The tugs are assigned to each gate…so sometimes you hit the lottery with certain gates with covered tugs 😁

When you have to push a plane that far in reverse, do the passenger air miles roll back in reverse as well?
