What about that was non-standard? I haven't seen any up close, but nothing jumped out at me as different than what I've seen from the boarding lounge.
Fantastic job Hun ❤ congratulation !!!😊
Curious. Did you have to get permission from American to film these while you work?
Ok
👍very nice job👍🤨🇭🇷
That was awesome. I’m a captain and on the receiving end of this for the last 12 years, 36 years of flying. I’ve always had a lot of respect for the skills to do this. Like backing a double jointed wagon, but also while coordinating the whole process. This young lady did a fantastic job and did it with a smile. American is lucky to have her on the ramp!
Well that is sure kind of you! I am grateful for great and kind pilots like you! It is amazing to see how everything (gates, pilots, ground, tower, etc…) all work together to keep this intricate system moving and most of the time…on time…getting passengers to their destinations. Connecting people all over the world!
@@ladyandtheramp you may not realize this, but the pilots are at a way more advantageous position to see outside because we are up higher, and being low to the ground for you looks very disorienting to me. But we can’t see anything at all behind us. That plane even though it’s just medium sized looks enormous from your perspective. Also, watching this again I was not aware that you don’t have continuous sight of the wingtips 😬. But you rocked it and stuck it right on the line with the mains centered. Again, nice work!
Back that Thang up girl!!😮😮
Reminds me of the pushes we did in Minneapolis. Back them up in a narrow alley, then do a 180. When I worked it DEN, though, we had straight pushes. A couple of gates had a slight turn, but it was pretty easy.
@@markg7963yeah, push back drivers really have to rely on the wing walkers, a lot.
From a guy who did countless pushbacks years ago, that was a very nice job, indeed. Thumbs up! 👍👍
Many thanks! 😁
Good push. I remember training one of our pushback drivers. She stood just barely 5' and was terrified to push an aircraft. I told her that she had to be at least trained and had to push one aircraft. We worked with her and she got signed off. By the time she was promoted she was the smoothest operator that we had and the crews would request her specifically when they had a complicated push.
Oh what a cool story!! Good for her! And way to keep encouraging her!! 😁

As a trainer can you show any SOP of using the horn on a very noisy ramp instead of hand signals
First time I see the pushback from that angle ... Thanks and cheers!
Cheers! 😁
What you do helps me get to work almost weekly. I am self employed. Would not be able to commute to work without you. Thank you so much.
It takes a lot of ground based Professionals to get a craft into the air. This is one of those talented Professionals. Well done.
Thank you 😁
I worked ramp service in San Diego for Alaska Airlines (ATS) Airport Terminal Service back in 2000-2001. It was the best and had a blast doing that job. After 9/11 the whole industry changed and there were major cutbacks. But it was super fun while it lasted. The flight benefits were clutch too. Much respect.
I totally agree! I love the job and love the benefits! Thanks for sharing! 😁
A trio of AA ladies doing a great job....big smiles ...love it and from the greatest airport.
Thank you so much!!😁
Wow. That takes serious skill. You nailed it all the while making it look effortless. We all take "pushback" for granted. This sheds a whole new perspective and appreciation for the skill and attention required. And all the while, a great smile. Lol
Great job!
Thanks for sharing.
Ben
Thanks a ton! 😁
39 yrs of doing that for AA at JFK and LGA.Nice push. Brought back good memories.
Glad to hear it 😁
I don’t know why this showed up in my algorithm, but I can’t stop watching them.
😁
One of the best push backs ive seen
Thank you 😁
That’s some mighty fine wheeling right thar. Getting that beast lined up, and the rear bogies entered at the same time. That’s skill I tell ya.
You’ve got me hooked
Centered, not entered. LOL. Fat finger syndrome
Thank you so much 😁
That was a great pushback! In all my years as a commercial pilot, I had never been able to see it from the tug driver's point-of-view. Wing-walkers are obviously indispensable! I figure that the push to spot Kilo-three was given either by ramp or ground control. My guess is that it probably happens routinely. At IAH, there are several gates that are tricky to park at, or be pushed back out of. My hat's off to a very underrated and under-appreciated part of the crew!🙂
The push clearance actually was given to the pilot by the tower. There was traffic in the alleyway that we normally push to on the East side. So they had us do a “non-standard” push to the East side to Kilo 3. Thank you so much for your comments and appreciation! We appreciate you all as well! 😁
As a pilot, do you think that is a safe type of pushback compared to a straight back unhook, depart or one turn unhook, depart?
@@davidsmiths5471 That pushback, just as it was accomplished, IMHO was a safe & efficient operation -- all participants ensured that the area that the aircraft was being pushed into was clear of obstructions .
Naturally, with a greater pushback distance, especially around the busy terminal area, does carry more risk, than just a simple push-and-go.
The key factor, again IMHO, is the wing-walkers, who are the tug driver's safety net against clipping a wing tip, or running into a catering truck. Without them, it could not be done, safely.
@@ladyandtheramp I wasn't sure if PHX had adopted a dedicated Ramp Control, like we have at IAH.
When we parked at the old Terminal 2, we just gave Ground Control a "pushback advisory" call, since we were technically in a "non-movement" area, that they didn't control.
As soon as we moved into the northside terminal, we were advised to call Ground, for clearance before pushback. I don't know if that's changed, since I retired four years ago.
Keep up the good work!
@@boeingpilot7002 Your not running for mayor in your town? But great response not to offend anyone. And what Boeing product do you fly if I may ask?
I always loved the salute. It was always just cool to me that final exchange before the adventure.
Me too! 😁
Great job, on the pushbacks! That takes some wicked skill. As a truck driver, I'm kinda envious. Your videos are always fun to watch.
Oh cool! I remember my Dad always wanting to drive big semi trucks! That takes lot of skill!!
Thanks for watching! 😁
That sure is a pretty smile and a cool job that you have. It looks like you're very good at what you do and take a lot of pride in it as well.
I drive an 80-foot tractor trailer for a living.
Watching you push back those huge / massive multi-million dollar air busses kind of reminds me of my gig, only quadrupled in size and responsibility.
You are very skilled and precise!
Oh you have a cool job too! That is awesome! 😁
dang. that is some real driving skills there! centered on the line and no hesitation throughout.
Oh thank you! 😁
A job that requires a lot of skill. Very cool. Working while smiling also makes all the difference.
😁
I have trouble just backing out of my driveway!

Thanks for sharing! Interesting to see it from your perspective.
I grew up in Mesa and was the first-ever college intern at America West Airlines in 1990. After graduation, I spent six months working on the ramp at T-3. T-4 was under construction and the last thing I did was take an orientation tour about a week before it opened.
I returned to PHX in 2000 and spent five years as ATC in the now-demolished control tower. I’ve had the birds-eye view of those long end-around pushes but haven’t seen it from the ground.
Oh that is cool! We have a lot of tampers that were from the America West days. They said those were great times! Thanks for sharing!
Talk about huge responsibility!!!! Wow!! Amazing job..like backing a trailer facing it
😁
Just been recommended this channel and it looks fascinating to watch
The 'shave and a haircut' horn made me laugh
Gonna binge watch a few vids
Just came across this, fascinating to see. Nice that you're able to do a critical job with a smile. Having been forced to learn how to back a 5th wheel w/ trailer, I can appreciate the incredible amount of practice and accomplishment you've mastered to perform with such precision. Thank you for sharing.
Yes…backing up that 5th wheel can be so challenging! Thank you 😊
Love watching your videos! As a former ramper my self and now pilot. Starting training with AAL next month hopping for the A320. Whenever I hit the line and happen to be in PHX I'll stop by to say hello. Great work!!
No one cares that you're a "pilot." 🤦
Congratulations!! So do you train for a specific aircraft? We have lots of A320’s come in and out of PHX! Good luck! 😁
@@ladyandtheramp yes, new hires have 2 options, 737 or A320 only. Takes about 5 years to touch a 787 or 777.
Don’t care what anyone says, that job requires serious coordination and communication skills. Much respect.
No sub!
Thank you 😁
From AMARC with a job well done! Always love these types of ramp videos lol.
Thanks! 👍
Great job! And then seeing how some people are struggling parking their caravan...
Great to see the enthusiasm!
Thank you 😁
I drove Ukes in the USAF as a Crewchief moving KC-135's and B-1B bombers, i've got to say you did it like a pro !
Oh that would be so cool! How fun! And thank you 😁
That was cool to watch and hear. Authentic airport sounds are so much better than music. Awesome job!
Thanks…that is what we were told on one if the videos we put music on 😂
Something very routine to me…others appreciate :)

Love your channel name and love your smile. Can tell you are naturally happy person. I work at an airport too and I enjoy my job there as well. It is a rare place to work at.
Thank you so much! 😁
Great job! Very obviously not your first rodeo! I loved doing pushbacks, and it made my day if I did it smoothly enough to get a comment from the cockpit crew.
Isn’t that the best!! You feel all proud 😂
So clever, I've no idea how you keep such excellent control, very impressive, I struggle to reverse into my driveway !!!
😁😂
Wow very cool 😃😊. You look very happy to be on the job and that’s what I like seeing ! People enjoying what they do 🤙

nice driving, smooth, no back and forth on the towbar. Keep the videos rolling.
Thanks 👍
i miss this. haven't worked the ramp in 3 years. great job.

as a dude who couldn't push a uhaul trailer in reverse in a secluded parking lot, this was incredible! front gear stuck right on the center line! cool watch. #PHX.

Did you grow up “non-revving”?
I don’t know why I’m so obsessed with watching your videos. I’m just mesmerized at how you move these huge planes around. Did you work on a large farm or go to a school for this… you young lady have my full undivided attention !! Bravo to your skill level, you make it look easy !🤜🏼🤛🏼
Oh I am so glad you like them!! Thank you for watching!

She's so professional. Line up very straight. Amazing wemen's job.
Thank you! 😁
I am now a subscriber. I guess it makes sense to do that, as I am sub'd to a couple of pilots' channels. It is good to see how things get done before it goes up in the air.
I like that you didn't mute the outside noise and more importantly, you don't have any 'background' music playing. Never add music to a video unless it's a dance or music video. Part of the enjoyment of these type of videos is seeing and hearing what the host is seeing and hearing.
What made this a non-standard pushback? Not that I know the procedures for a standard one, so it's all new to me.
Thanks.
Nice work! Smooth and precise!
Thanks a lot! 😁
Mad professionalism! Incredible skill! Thank you for this awesome video!

I think so too! They are slow (really low geared) but super strong 💪 😁

Awesome! 👍😁
She is a bad ass!!! Much respect!!! And she pretty
Thanks!
All my love for those of you that help get our flights started and ended right!
Thank you so much! 😁👍
That looks a lot more fun than my crap job. Their not likely to give me a liner certificate to fly hundreds but I would still like to work around aircraft. ATC is too high stress, responsability, and risk to life and limb of others but pushback... never thought about that, but it would probably be what I enjoy most besides flying the actual things. Still get to move them! And often people with that job move them around empty too and have to start-up the cockpit, I'd love that.
It is a great job! 😁👍
You have the coolest job in the world
I think so too! Thank you 😁
I think she is doing a lot to make her job the coolest in the world, by loving it.
Very well done you made that look easier than it really is.

American Airlines. We save money by driving halfway to your destination
😂😂
First, here in Europe we only use wingwalkers in tight spot, not for normal pushbacks out of the gate. We also disconnect the towbar from the tug first before we disconnect it from the aircraft.
Oh that is interesting!
Seriously girl, you're cooler than any female pilot I've seen on UA-cam!
Oh wow! That is quite a compliment :) ❤️😊

Thank you! 😁
This lady knows her job l pull a horsebox and reversing is not easy l think l will put a tow ball on the front of my truck and push the horesbox into place 😊
Thank you 😁
What happened to the wing walkers once you left the gate area? At EWR they followed the wingtips until the push back was completed. If you see the wingtip in the video, you should also see its wing walker somewhere around it. The left wing walker disappears once you left the gate, only to return to show the streamer on the steering bypass pin to the flight crew at the very end. In confined areas, add a tail walker into the mix.
Yes you are correct! Great observation! The reason why the wing walkers don’t follow the wingtip on this specific push is because we pass the zipper line onto an “active taxiway”. No person or equipment (besides the push tug and operator) are allowed to be on the active taxiway. The tower stops traffic from all directions to allow clearance for the push. Once I turn the aircraft back into the alleyway….you will see the wing walkers take their positions again at the wing tips. And finish their job in taking the bypass pin and releasing the tow bar. 😁
@ladyandtheraSo where was the right wing walker, and the left one was never by the wing when you pushed into the allyway she was behind the pushback! So you actually were pushing without wingwalkers which im sure are not allowed in you SOPs especially that type of push! But why didnt the right wing walker go back toward his or her side seeing you pushed in front of an active flight that was leaving?
O.K., That explains that if you were pushing back onto an active taxiway. Of course,, I was in aircraft maintenance, not ramp. At EWR, we had a company (CO/UA) ramp controller that controlled pushback authorizations. Didn’t normally touch the taxiways.
Think about it,wouldnt be an active taxi way, with an aircraft being pushed on it! @@markbushnell5400
