Great reaction as always. Regarding Dr. Cox and Carla: in the first season Cox had a crush on Carla and in one of the episodes it's revealed they had gone out on a date years before JD and Turk got there, but Carla didn't feel anything so it didn't go anywhere. After season 1 it's not really brought up much after that. 🔴🔴🔴
Much better this than the opposite, where there's not originally a romantic element and one is jammed in there.
Came to the comments to say this!!
It's more realistic that way. She didn't have feelings for him, but they were adults about it and moved on. They tried, it didn't work so no biggie. Happens a lot.
What I love is that in hindsight, all the treatment Nick prescribes is largely aimed at covering up the child's symptoms rather than fixing the problem. Steroids for a rash... anti-emetics for vomiting... antibiotics for a fever. The reason he got sick in the first place is never mentioned. Fits totally with the theme that sometimes people have deeper issues than what appears on the surface.
Interesting production note. When they were shooting the "lonely" version of the hospital, they didn't have to do anything to the existing sets. Because they were working out of an abandoned hospital anyway, they just went to another floor they hadn't been using and shot a few scenes in among the rubbish.
Also, a little side note about Donald Faison's dancing skills. In another episode he improvised a dance to Ted's air band, and people liked it so much the developers of Fortnite bought the rights to it to use as their default dance.
They didn't exactly buy the rights to it. well not right away lol.
🔴🔴🔴🔴🔴 Sean Hayes was great in this episode!
POISON! =P
Yesss thank you for more Scrubs! Eagerly awaiting a future reaction to Season 5 Episode 4, "My Jiggly Ball". It develops one of the main characters that you haven't seen that much depth from yet :)
edit after finishing: 🔴🔴🔴
Carla's and Perry's relationship isn't a mentor-type. They're more equal than that and Cox truly respects her. She keeps him in check a lot throughout the series. They bust each other's balls, but there's a lot of love there. I think it's a pretty prime example of a plutonic male/female friendship.
Wasn't Perry in love with Carla before?
@@Hanmacx Yeah, but that was pretty much done away with after like 1 season. However, there's an episode later on where it's brought up that they went on a date once and it was awful
This is exactly why Scrubs was the best sitcom ever made, in my opinion.
It's not just cheap laughs. They make you cry. And the lows make the highs all the more powerful.
M*A*S*H was very similar in that regard. I've always seen a lot of parallels between the two shows.
@@frocat5163 mash was a show that Bill Lawerence credited for scrubs
I lost my baby sister just before she turned 5 months old, two weeks before my dad's birthday. The story is so unbelievable.... On the positive side, my baby girl was born a few months ago, 2 days before my sister's birthday. The picture of my father holding her is so beautiful! You can see his smile through his facemask!
Hi, I'm from Ukraine and Scrubs is my favorite thing to watch before going to bed! I want to say thank to you, because even after years watching it, with your videos I can learn something new about it!
Same!! I watch it before bed too!!
This is such a great episode. I love seeing the reaction of a “perfect” doctor having to come to terms with the realization that sometimes things just go bad and it really breaking his world.
I had emergency abdominal surgery last year and watching this I thought "Hope they didn't knick the colon." But then I remembered it was a strangulated hernia and they had to remove and resection a part of the colon that had started to go necrotic... so actually I'm glad they did cut the colon. Must have smelled terrible though.
I see a video of yours reacting to Scrubs. Can't click fast enough!! Awesome.
Edit - 🔴🔴🔴 - Better than Blue balls I guess. Although Turk took care of that this episode. hahaha
So glad you're doing more episodes! Everyone reacts to the same 3 episodes, so it's refreshing to hear a doctor's perspective on these other ones. Thank you! 🔴🔴🔴
My Lunch, My Screw-Up, and..what, the pilot? My Old Lady? My Musical? I feel like there's a few different number 3s :)
Not a doctor, but absolutely love Scrubs. Actually, Scrubs is the only DVD set I have ever purchased. Watching your reactions makes me feel you are really enjoying Scrubs and enjoy doing these reactions. True??????
love all the relationship advice sprinkled in ha
I think Cox and Carla relationship was built of respect from the start. He enjoyed her company because she was a tough strong person and didn't fear him like everyone else. He respected That and it grew into a crush. I dint think it was ever a father daughter type thing.
It was also revealed in the quarantine episode that they had gone on a date before she met Turk
@@travisbuschette8609 see I forgot all about that. Lol. Been so long since I watched the entire series
I doubt you'll read this. But the emotions you show and clearly feel are powerful to me. I hope you never lose that as a doctor. And to a lesser extent as a youtuber.
It shows how much you care. And I think caring as a doctor is important.
I had an appendectomy a few years back, and I met with the OR Staff before I was taken in. And right before, I was one on one with just the main surgeon and he asked me I had any other questions. I said no, but asked that he do a good job, I was afraid. I knew then and know now, how relatively easy and safe my surgery was, but that didn't change my fear of my first ever surgery. He was very sympathetic. He looked at me, not offended at all, and said he would do his very best for me.
I still remember that caring and emotion to this day, 5 or whatever years later, and I suspect I'll always remember that care.
To sum up, as a patient, the caring my doctors showed me made a big deal to me. And I hope you keep that caring forever. Truly I do. We live in different countries and will never meet. But I want to say thank you. Not for youtube (tho thanks for the cool and interesting content) but for being a doctor at all, and one who cares. You will add much happiness and healthy-ness to this world. And that is deeply admirable.
🔴🔴🔴🔴 As someone who lost a 3 month old daughter to an illness which required surgery, I do think about you guys the doctors who perform these surgeries, CPR, etc. day in and day out. For us as parents to lose a child is awful and so while our experiences will differ, I sympathise with you doctors who lose patients who are so young. - And that cheese comment, well, that's my wife through and through. :)
You should really react to a two parter from season 6 "My No Good Reason" and "My Long Goodbye". It is incredibly cleverly written and really poignant.
I always liked the scene with Elliot crying in private before going back to work. I have always found crying to be a very important step in dealing with any tough situation. It feels really messy and painful while you’re doing it, but the clarity that comes afterwards is amazing.
I think what Dr. Cox meant by lowers heart rate is after a little bit has passed. Cause yes it raises your heart rate in the moment but after your endorphins have been released you tend to level out. Which I believe a lot of people fall asleep or get tired after sex/masturbating.
🔴🔴🔴 thanks doc! While this is far from my favorite scrubs episode this may be my favorite reactions you’ve done so far!! Your discussion at the end commenting on how you can get rattled when you see your supervisors vulnerable was really powerful. Plus, I’m just learning about how histamines help catalyze inflammation by creating intercellular pathways so I was wicked excited to here you talk about histamines and mast cells!!
Great reaction!! If I could recommend more scrubs, specifically My Last Words from Season 8… very good. Or code black (California’s version of code brown) about a very famous ED bay in a historic county hospital in Los Angeles. Excellent show!!
Keep up the good work!! I really love this channel!
Cheese is Not the best part of a meal if one is lactose intolerant and just got kicked out of an operating room for flatulence.
"i dont get the situation with this kid, first he had a drug rash and now he has sepsis"
me: prolly cuz no one wearing gloves in this hospital...
🔴 Always love watching these Scrubs reactions, great to hear your own perspective on things as well. I know you probably already have a very long list of Scrubs episode recommendations, and this might already be one of them, but I feel like I have to recommend S8E2, 'My Last Words'. One of the best episodes of the entire show in my opinion, it has that perfect Scrubs combination of great jokes and moving moments. Lots of stuff about coping with death, which hits me really hard every time. Either way I'll be here for the next Scrubs reaction whichever episode you choose :) 🔴
Regarding the question about dog shows - Yes, they check that male dogs have 2 descended testicles. I have known a lot of breeder-exhibitors, and one told me of a show-quality German Shepherd Dog who was monorchid. The owner actually convinced a plastic surgeon to insert a prosthetic testicle into the dog's scrotum so it could be shown. Unfortunately, 6 weeks later the 2nd testicle descended, and the dog was once more not allowed in the show ring. Dog show people have the BEST stories.
Cox had a crush on Carla at the end of first season as she was the only one he could open up to. Then it went away in the second season as Cox's ex-wife came back. :)
the interesting part of this (heard from the podcast fake doctors real friends) when they were filming this it was on the date of 9/11/2001 in USA when we were attacked. So they were very shaken up when filming this episode
Thank you. Please do more of Scrubs. And it's wonderful how you share your real life experiences when sth serious happens in Scrubs. All the respect for doctors and the "ghosts" you carry with you and still keep going.
It's really interesting hearing your insights! Keep up the good work mate! 🔴
*pretend there's a red ball/dot here* :) great video, per usual!
I listened a lot to Zack snd Donald's podcast, Fake Doctors, Real Friends visiting the hospital last year, made it realler but also more comforting.
I was a kid i was in hospital for a long time and got to know my surgeon pretty well. One night he showed up to my room unexpectedly. he said he was passing and just thought he'd check in, which wasn't unusual, he was there most hours, he wouldnt even holiday far away from the hospital. anyway my mum saw somethign was up and when she asked if there was any other reason and he told us that he'd lost a baby in theatre. she hugged him and told him how good i was doing and the other kids on the ward were going, which i think was what he was looking for. he obviously knew we were doing well, he was the reason we were, but it helped.
I CAN'T DO RED BALLS, so he's an all caps comment instead
🔴🔴 Love your videos mate!
This is the kind of content which is a treat because it’s not readily available and you have to wait a while for more.
Yeah, I believe they typically do that in dog shows. They want to make sure the winner is able to make more breeds of their kind too, of course win the competitions in future events.
Hey look it's that guy from Will and Grace that isn't Will.
Hee man. I think you should watch My Full Moon, it's an episode that's kind of an episode on Elliot and Turks possible future as
doctors and if they would stay doctors forever. it really shows you to a degree what all those yeats of experiences those 2 have formed but may lead to different outcome. I think it's a question everyone in every field could ask themselves having worked in that field for so long
btw what is the guitar song in the end monologue?
I like how you glossed over the "who he thought was the devil" part of your code black...
"You need gloves... you need gloves...." Today in Dr Syl fact checks the realism of a scene that is clearly more of a dream sequence of doctors carrying torches and throwing urine samples across the hospital
"No the driver in this analogy would be the one dying."
Ah yes. I completely understand now.
why do real world doctors comment on accuracy every 2 minutes? its a comedy series. no one is looking at it and thinking this is how a hospital really is.
Scrubs? I'm here for it 😁
Just realized I hadn’t subbed yet. But I was WAY too excited for a new scrubs reaction. You and Dr Crystal are my favorite content creators.
🔴🔴🔴🔴🔴🔴🔴
🔝 Reminds me of playing dodgeball (sometimes called bombardment) in school
He literally said "and yet, you keep eating chili".. And you say you don't know what he's eating... I would love for my doctor to keep more attention🤣
Dr. Syl: You need gloves
Dr. Mike: Chest compressions, chest compressions, chest compressions
Erythema migrans usually is a dead ringer for Lyme disease, transmitted by ticks. It is also referred to as bullseye rash because of the looks when it spreads away from the puncture.
Happened to 30 years ago. It turned into a nice little neuro borelliosis after a few weeks including the obligatory facialis paresis.
Lyme was considered extinct in the region i lived so naturally doctors assumed little 14yo. me was just making things up. It took a young newly made resident to remember the textbook passages.
When lab results came back at midnight i was hooked up to an ungodly amount of bottles and bags left and right :D
What i want to say is: you are not alone in that, but i would really like to see more awareness. Even if it is just "That rash looks odd, i better look it up right away".
Could have saved me a lot of pain back then.
✨🔴🔴🔴🔴thankyou for your reaction and sharing ur experiences🔴🔴🔴🔴✨
26:00 Fun fact: most of the music uses different songs because of copyright nonsense, e.g. Michael J Fox leaves Sacred Heart episode -> Elliot follows toilet paper trail- music in originally aired episode was "A Murder of One" by Counting Crows.
🔴 ...hmmm...You've been doing this for about a year now. I'd like to see you react to your own early days videos!
🔴 I just recently found your videos and I'm having a great time watching through them. Thank you for your content!
🔴
That’s a good episode. Important for showing how mental health affects even the most seemingly put together person
🔴 “You’re stupid” is such a good insult to any classically smart person, because the very nature of their role “proves” it to them regularly. I imagine a doctor’s ego is under constant fire.
(Also I think a clip from this leaked into the thumbnail of the previous reaction :^P)
"I don't even know what he's eating"
Literally seconds earlier: "Yet you're still eating chilli"
🔴 Nice work Dr. Syl!
I love the Scrubs episodes with Brendon Fraser, but I'd be happy to watch whatever you feel like reviewing on Scrubs
Yes, in the early seasons, Cox had a crush on Carla. It was one of the weirder subplots, but they never really spent much time on it so it's easily forgettable.
Based on the fact that this is over a year old, I don't feel bad saying that yes, Dr Cox does and has always had a crush on Carla. They actually went out once, but yea. I mean, what's not attractive about her? Smart, gorgeous, sexy, funny, and has an amazing head on her shoulders.
You should be vulnurable in a relationship? As someone who's been told "can we please stop talking about problems?" before, ballance seems more important. Now the great thing about relationships is that everyone has a different idea of what good ballance looks like , and it tends to change on a daily- if not hourly basis.
17:24 ondansetron is the drug name in Australia
Oh man, I've been hoping for this one for a while. Its an early example of what makes Scrubs great. Its a hilarious show, but the comedy is not guaranteed. Because life has its highs, its lows, its heroes, and its fools. This show is funny and inspirational, yet tragic and heartfelt. And it really makes you appreciate the good times. Great reaction!
Appreciate your insight man, would love more of these!
The psych check on entering med school is why i didn't become a physician's assistant. I handle death well, but not with kids or dementia patients. They didn't catch it, but i did from the qiestions.
🔴 tip on the transitions. add a small pause cause sometimes the transition noise cuts a little of what you say and it's a little jarring. not bad but just a small tip
Hospitals need to start carrying tranquilizer guns for a code black...
Thank you so much for these reactions. It's always great to hear your input about the situations that happen in the series. 🔴🔴🔴
Could the little kid from this episode just have drug induced fever from all the different drugs they have been giving him? If that’s the case then wouldn’t all they would have to do is take him off them wouldn’t they?
🔴🔴🔴 - Is the scrubs representation of rounds accurate? I can't imagine it's comforting for the patients watching your doctors get quizzed on the ward and get some of the answers wrong ?
From my experiences in hospitals, I’ve only been in 4 on rounds, and none were teaching hospitals like this, it’s not. The rounds I’ve been able to go on are usually either done outside the room or in a separate room and they are usually less quiz show and more of a collaborative effort. As a student you usually get quizzed if you’re there, but not hounded and I’d you don’t know something, unless it’s pretty blatantly obvious, you’re just expected to research it and usually follow up with whoever is leading you.
I will say though on one of my rotations, we did have the patient rooms open and if they were awake and with it enough to talk they would answer questions too. It is a bit impersonal when you do rounds sometimes though since it’s more about charts and current conditions.
31:45 how do you even manage that without killing them? The force required must be so difficult to gauge.
Peeing in a Cup ist so difficult. You need the midstream. So you start to pee, Stop, get the Cup ready and pee a Bit and then you let the Rest Out. Not contaminating the Container is really hard
🔴 I'm so glad you did this episode! One that is worth a review would be My Old Lady from Season 1. 🔴🔴🔴
Dr Syl: Gets a new transition animation
As a result: Uses it at every possible opportunity
😂💖 might as well get some use!
"You definitely need gloves" that's where I completely lost it xDD
I want to thank u for everything u do both as a doctor and as a UA-camr
Recommend My First Step episode of scrubs, see Kelso vs Cox: title fight.
Erythema migrans is the rash seen in Lyme disease. I actually had erythema multiform and it had to be diagnosed by an oral medicine doctor.
The fact it happened, you did, and can still practice, is telling, you should be in medicine.
Don't kiss dogs. The bacteria in their mouth does not belong in the human body.
So yesterday on tiktok I saw a video on my fyp page somebody had told the doctor before their surgery that they're allergic to latex like as they're being wheeled into surgery by the way I'm allergic to latex and they were like oh s*** that's not on the chart so we got to go to a different operating room that has no latex and then when the person woke up they're like so why wasn't the latex allergy in your medical notes they're like well I'm not really allergic I just don't like the sound of it 🙄
🔴🔴 loved it again. Really enjoying your scrubs series! 😁
Your reactions are insightful and also so cute. 🔴🔴🔴🎈🛑🍅🍒❣
We learn throughout the Show that Cox and Carla dated but that he overplayed his cards with her, she might be the only person aside from maybe Jordan who truely gets him
You're a doctor. "Sue me" shouldn't be part of your vocabulary.
Gods are human too. Otherwise they wouldn't be gods.

Asking for an emoji of "red balls" was brave, just saying.
We don't use the kidney dishes for handover and a code black for us is a bomb threat.
* red balls * (because my old updated device doesn't show me the emoji table)
that moment when someone start liking Laverne...
Lmao, the irony of a janitor calling a doctor stupid.
🔴🔴🔴 loving the scrubs videos, keep em coming!
The transitions are cool, but having them in the middle of a sentence is more distracting than anything.
Wait wait wait, full stop. Do they not have Chili in Australia?
A detail that gets lost in this series is that it is based on the journal of a real doctor as he was doing his internship and residency.

Hi. Please check out my personal favorite: My Fruit Cups. This is a lighthearted episode about the phase before you make money as a doctor.
that's where I'm at!! hahaha
Yay! Something for me to watch.

I am pretty sure he don't mean it lowers the heart rate during but after.
