That's basically every pitcher, though maybe not quite that much rotation. That motion is why pitchers blow out their elbows and wind up getting Tommy John surgery. It's also why not just anyone can go out and pitch at the major league level.
Everyone, check out the documentary on Netflix called "Fastball". Apparently, in today's game, they measure pitch speed 50 ft from home plate but back in Nolan Ryan's day, it was done I think 10 ft in front of home plate. In the documentary, the adjust of this and if Ryan's pitch had been clocked at the same distance as Chapman's 105.1 mph missle, Ryan's would've been about 108.6 mph.
HeyItzRyan obviously has no idea what he's talking about lol, they DID measure fastballs 10 ft from home plate in the 70's. Today, they do it 50 ft from home, at the balls maximum velocity, so yeah Nolan Ryan could have easily thrown a faster pitch than was actually recorded at the time.
To be able to throw like that is a gift. No matter how much you work on it, you'll never be able to do that. Sometimes it's just luck. My coach topped at 98 on the gun. He told us that not only did he work his ass off to do that, but he had some luck. His buddy worked his ass off just as hard and he can only top at like 92
Funny thing is i was always taught to never drop my arm behind my back when pitching only to now find out i could've possibly been throwing 93mph (still not good enough for a right hander)
Throwing like what he does is extremely hard. stride over 100% of height and 12 feet in front of my feet is just undoable for me. Doing it faster is another problem but that body positioning itself is already a troublesome
Some of the best handballers in the world (european sport) can shoot a handball up to 130km/h ( 80 mph). Now, the handball is 3 times heavier than baseball, and has about 3-4 times bigger diameter (much greater air resistance). I think these guys can easily throw a baseball 100p mph with very little training.

Nick Swisher almost did last week, a 100 mph pitch came about an inch from hitting him right in the face. Swisher walked toward the mound and shook his head saying "Don't do that".

Fastest throw in cricket is 101 mph I think. But that's cause you are running in. But you are also not chucking your arm like in baseball, which gives a lot more speed. So it's a give or take between chucking and running in, but obviously 105 is insane, and untouchable in my opinion for cricket players
not really Felix, as a baseball batsman we have a certain area that is based as the hitting zone with the ball coming at you direct so there is less factors to work with(mostly velocity and the swing curves in the air for baseball) where as in cricket, the batsman has to worry about the velocity, the swing in the air when the ball is pitched and the swing / deviation in the ground with when the ball hits the pitch and turns to different angles, plus the condition of that cricket ground pitch ( the bounce and turn factor ) also as a cricket batsman, you have to worry as to whether or not the pitcher is pitching the ball towards your body such as the head by purpose ( which is legal in cricket, to intimidate the batsman). Now you can imagine a 90mph ball which is harder than a baseball, coming directly towards your head, and you have a split sec decision to make whether you are going to move away or hit the ball. I have played both the sports in high competitive level, and to be honest both of them is tough in its own unique way. And to be honest, although there are lots of similarities between the two, there are lots of differences when it comes to the pitching and batting mechanics. Love both Cricket and Baseball.
Any sports or subject would be boring if you don't know what its about. Perhaps if you learn about it and give it a chance you would definitely think otherwise. Check out cricket t20, its 3 hour version with way more action that a normal baseball game. @Blake, lets just say that the mound for the LLWS is 40 feet. (3MPH per ft.) x 20 ft. distance ; [104+60] - .5mph due to scientific reasons (Wind, etc.). He'd be throwing around 163-165 on a good rested day from the LLWS mound.

Excuse me, what's with the name calling? Maybe you don't follow the Reds and recall how Chapman went through a wild stretch in 2011 where he couldn't even throw strikes. He was consistenly walking the bases loaded and finally they took him down and worked with him. He hasn't thrown close to 105 since but his control is better. I saw him hit 102 last year on one pitch. He can throw 101 with ease now, which is still damn fast.
@@cro4194 because he throws hard, not necessarily good. He is struggling probably because he lacks location on his fastball, gets gassed quickly and his only other great pitch is his slider. That does not mean that he isn't the hardest thrower to have ever walked the earth
Chapman doesn't throw 105 anymore. In 2011 they tweaked his delivery because he was consistently wild. He throws in the high 90s now usually; will hit 100 or 101 from time to time. Still damn near unhittable stuff, especially when he mixes in a slider at 89!

100mph pitches are not as difficult to hit as you might think. I have thrown as fast as 102 in the past, but my era on my middle school team this past year was 5.83 because I threw it to much over the heart of the plate.
Moral of the story: you see him wind up, start swingin'

That's pitching coach Tom HOUSE
John Brenkus and pitching coach Tom Howes break down the throwing
I saw him close aganist my team this year and he's unhittable the batters just watch because you can't react he was throwing 102,103,104 Mph fastballs the batters were watching I've never seen something like that the picthes were rite down the middle of the plate they were hittable picths they just couldn't react in time it was amazing!
100mph pitches are not as difficult to hit as you might think. I have thrown as fast as 102 in the past, but my era on my middle school team this past year was 5.83 because I threw it to much over the heart of the plate.
^lol
Thomas Bossero What team?
Cherw Mutery lol this dude saying he can throw 102 in middle school
yeah i asked a scout before he told me the fastest for 13 years old was a kid he saw throw 90
