Hi, I'm writing from Italy. I have a problem with this type of cnc. I followed your video, step by step but I can't calibrate the Z axis. the cutter cuts into the probe and goes into alarm. I entered the thickness of the probe but nothing. Can you help me?😢

The z axis has only 55mm(2.16") of travel, so it could only cut that deep, and that also assumes that a long enough cut length bit can be sourced in a size that will fit this collet. The smaller spindle shown in this version in the video is a 60w spindle and would require very thin passes about 0.015" in hardwood. But the 300w spindle upgrade could go about 0.05" per pass. But that would still be limited by that same 2.15" max plunge amount. The Vast model would be better suited for that, which comes with a router and can easily be outfitted with a larger spindle to take the larger 3" cut length bits.
Good point. The title was initially setup to post the video to the FoxAlien Facebook group, but with more recent viewers coming from UA-cam search, you're right, that is a more fitting title.
@@Nfrealmusicfans yes, since those aren't too aggressive of cuts, It would do a good job for making unions. The 300w spindle upgrade would speed up the process for sure though!!
Let's say a 12" wide basic 50 star union (no logos) takes maybe 40 mins with a 300w, the same carve would be like 2 hours with the 60w. And I'm still talking about the Masuter platform, just with the larger motor. Currently $679
I haven't upgraded to it yet, but that's mainly due to other common windows bugs that usually pop up... but many others are running via windows 11 without issue 👍👍
Cut area is 40mmx40mm so the width would be limited to 1.5ft but the front and back are open so one could use a process called tiling to carve longer pieces.. but the width is limited to only 1.5ft so that would make this model cnc too small for the 2ft portion if your board.

Noob question but can this model cut through 2-3 inches of hard wood or would it be strenuous on the machine?
