Good job. I'm having trouble with my XE not wanting to move after eating up a board like a landshark. So I[m going back through your videos for help. Think I may have loose belts..thanks
Sounds like the machine bit you unexpectedly & caused a problem. Great instruction on overcoming the problem. Hope Fox update their instruction manual with what you've identified. Can you still unlock the machine in software UGS or Candle or only on the Fox control panel? I'm surprised Fox didn't override the switch bounce off activation requiring you to reset twice! Machines allow software to self override the activation during the Homing process. Can't see why they don't ignore/override the bounce off activation! The Alarm question mark could do with being more prominent ... Red Flashing "Limit Activation" would help!
This was a demonstration of the limit switches. UGS and Candle will work to unlock the limit switches. Yes I hope that they will update their manual to include the extra step.
The bounce is really really annoying.. Having to reset 2x every time you hit a limit has led me to unplug a few of these switches especially while I am tuning and setting things up. This is a software issue? I was thinking of throwing some other switches on there, more like the xcarve uses to see if they avoid the issue.
Hi, love your videos, Just assembled my FA, 4040XE and stepping through the instructions for the life of me I can't get rid of the 2 question marks on the control panel. I pushed the emergency stop in and out many times, I push reset and they go away for 3 seconds, I've checked all the limit switches to be stuck for jam, check all the wiring , today I ohmed out all the limit switches to see if one was shorted or stuck, all ck out fine. Do you have any ideas for me?
hi paw paws, graeat tutorial, is it the same procedure with a cnc masuter? When I want to do a job and the spindle touches the wood in automatic it stops, I give it unlock and send and the machine starts to do the job above the wood without the spindle moving. Thanks paw paws !
Hello and thank you for the video! My limit switches are not working as I try to home the device. This problem only recently started.Any help would be appreciated.
Look for broken wires, loose wires and even broken limit switches. On my XCarve, I never used the limit switches for the first four years of use. When I decided to use them I realized one limit switch was broken, on had the wires broken off. If this is a new occurrence then it will most likely be a mechanical issue and not a software issue
@@PawPawsWorkShop I tried about 20 more times and it finally homed. Not sure what is causing the issue.Faulty switch probably.Thank you for getting back to me so quickly!
My machine all of a sudden isn't working right (it's been working fine for a year). When i power on the controler, it now says "idle" not "lock", so i don't have to unlock it to do anything. Plus, I goto run a program I've run 1,000 times for a 2 inch piece, and it jumps like 6 inches in the x and y axis, and tried to cut the piece out like it was huge. The cordinates displayed of movement is correct, so i know the machine is reading the correct position. I've tried multiple files ive used before, and they're all doing this.
You hit a limit switch. First determine which one you hit then hit reset. Move in the opposite direction. You repeat this process until the machine moves freely again
That’s poor electronics control, they could have the alarm and allow the machine to travel in the other direction without you having to intervene. The need to update to conform. That’s foolish. My actuators have built in limit switches coupled with two diodes that automatically inhibit further travel in that specific direction and allow travel in the opposite direction.
CNC machine are not cheap. There are many components that make up the machine all of which must work correctly. It’s more complicated than a let’s say a table saw. Also expensive. Any hobby can be expensive. It’s all about what you want to do
@@PawPawsWorkShop with the same amount of "money" you gave fox you can buy better components!!!! buiger motor!! and build a slightly larger longer Y and wider x space!! and still have money left!?? you did know that? ofcourse! and Thats a FACT!!!!! no lie do the math?
Many people don’t have the ability to buy all the components and make your own machine. Yes, that would be much cheaper but definitely not for everyone. Thanks for sharing

It sounds like your belts or wheels are loose causing you to lose steps. I would need more information to help more
Thanks
Ooooo, I’m a simple man. I see pawpaw I watch.
Thanks, love it
Great tutorials!
Glad you like them! Hopefully, this will help to answer the questions on why their machine stops. Thank you very much.
Good couple of issues identified by Paw Paw, will you update your manuals for new users (and advise existing customers too)
Thanks this really help
Glad it helped. Thanks for watching and finding your answers
Great video. Is it possible to see the interior of the controller box ?
I was not planning on opening up the controller. There are videos that show that and I do not have a need to see or change anything in the controller.
I have pictures of the inside, pm me
Good information thank you 💐❤️🇮🇶
Thank you very much. Thank you for supporting my channel.
Was wondering how would you expand it like the other alien products.

Have you tried to use a different controller? I would suggest the Openbuilds controller. It’s free.

You most likely are hitting a limit switch. Move the spindle down lower reset and unlock the machine and carve again

You have a mechanical issue. Look to the belts, or the wheels. Even a loose wire.
Pawpaw, what do i do if the "??" show up as soon as i jog the machine, but when i hit reset nothing happens? Any ideas?
You hit a limit switch. First determine which one you hit then hit reset. Move in the opposite direction. You repeat this process until the machine moves freely again
ok not sure what i did, but it's fixed now. in Open builds i just reset WCOs and EEPROM and that did the trick. Thanks!!!@@PawPawsWorkShop
