    I have the vanish and love it. I also have the. XOP sticks which I also really like. I like how they’re made to attack right to the back of the vanish stand.

    I use the lone wolf sticks and a millennium stand but basically the same concept. I’m considering 1 or 2 wild edge steps for next year. Just to get me that extra 3 feet or so. I don’t always need it but sometimes I would like that extra little bit of height.

    Another great Video. You're thoughts on the xop quick connect? I like the idea of it, but not sure about the added weight and it just being one more thing to worry about dragging up the tree.

    • @averagejackarchery

      I have full intentions of purchasing the bracket system down the road. To me, it looks like the bee's knees. The ability to hang a stand without having to hold its weight while I get the straps around the tree. Seems pretty slick!

    I liked everything on your set up, except taking the stand up on your back, if something ever went wrong and you fell with that on your back,it wouldn't be good. I pull mine up on para cord once at hunting height.

    im really torn between a lock on or a saddle. im in the south and we have plenty of straigt climbable trees so i currently hunt out of a summit openshot weighs about 15 pounds TW. im skeptical of the comfort aspect with a lock on Vs a climber so im leaning more towards a saddle.

    • @averagejackarchery
      @averagejackarchery  4 роки тому

      If I didnt have a bad back I wouldn't have invested in a saddle so soon. Although now that I've sat in one for a season I don't know how I went in a "regular" stand all this time! Haha! I was a climber guy exclusively for almost 15 years. Still killed a lot of deer but always had one or two perfect spots that just didn't have perfect trees. A loc on is a great way to go, especially as the saddle system I truly think isn't for everybody. But man is it the most lightweight system to get into any tree at any height that I have found.

    Appreciate the video, I am a climber user as well, but my new Vanish showed up today. One question-Why did you chose API sticks over the XOP?

    • @averagejackarchery
      @averagejackarchery  5 років тому

      Price mostly. But also, I prefer the fixed double step instead of a folding side to side style. I also knew I was going to go with a LW Versa Button rope mod, so that was extra money right out the door as well.

  • @boober7270
    @boober7270 5 років тому

    Just my opinion. Millennium m100u is amazing!!! Way more comfort than xop. If u get the chance give a try. I’m a centre Hall native. Live in Kansas now. Hunt a ton of private land so don’t really run and gun that much. If I did I would still use the millennium. As always WE ARE!!!!!

    Do you have to use the LW versa button for the rope mod to work with api sticks or will the ones that come with the sticks work fine?

    • @averagejackarchery
      @averagejackarchery  4 роки тому +1

      You have to use the LW buttons as the API sticks' buttons are too deep and won't pinch the rope properly.

      I haven't officially timed it, and this is still my first season, so I'm sure I'll progress faster as I use it more. Right now it takes on average 15-20minutes from arriving at the tree to nocking an arrow. Definitely not too bad time-wise!

    nice video! would the api button work with the rope mod? Is the lone wolf button required?

    • @averagejackarchery
      @averagejackarchery  5 років тому +1

      I'll be honest I didn't try it. But I will say it's a much fatter design than a LW and the flange is a lot smaller in diameter. It might be possible, but my guess is not, or it would need a different diameter rope than 8mm. The versa buttons were a cheap enough addition, less than $30 for 4 shipped, that I wanted to have them as they're tried and tested already.

    • @mimike2640

      The major advantage that I have found is you can climb any tree with this setup. A climber limits you to straight trees without branches.

  • @jhuntley575
    @jhuntley575 5 років тому

    Found the api sticks to be a poor design due to the wiggle in the steps. Does that happen with yours too?

    • @averagejackarchery
      @averagejackarchery  5 років тому

      Mine too have the slightest bit of slop. But definitely not a dangerous amount by any means. I still prefer it over the possibility of a step getting kicked up and not straight out like with an XOP or Lone Wolf.

    Will the rope mod work with the API stock button?

    • @averagejackarchery
      @averagejackarchery  4 роки тому +1

      It will not unfortunately. The API button is not flanged enough to allow ropes to pinch onto themselves. Believe me I tried a few different sizes but the flare of the button is too shallow and the rope slips off over the top once compressed.

    XOP does not recommend what you did after attaching your second lower strap when you did a second cam lock on the stand. There official video recommends to ABSOLUTELY NOT do that second cam lock that you did. You should watch the official XOP website video... as they tell us what you did was dangerous & an improper way to set-up their stand.
