    Thanks, again Jason for all your great tips and video's. I've been hunting with traditional bow's for almost 30 years and switched over to LW stands and stick's last year after watching your videos, and boy did it make a big difference in my hunting. Thanks again.

    Started hunting mobile last year and purchased the Assault 2 that you suggested. Couldn't be happier with it and allows me to hunt a variety of trees. I put in the work last winter and have 21 stand locations so I'm not burning out my spots. Thanks for sharing your insights. It has totally changed my approach and makes hunting much more enjoyable

    I have the lw assault as my primary for the last few years. Found your channel actually because of that stand. I have a xop vanish for a few preset locations and that small v bracket makes that stand where I need that second strap. It's not as solid, especially on larger trees. I'm really thinking about trying the new little novix just to see if I like the smaller profile. Can't wait to see you're review of the beast.

    Thanks, Jason great video! The reasons I tried the LWCG and beast stand is not for carrying the stand but for hanging the stand. I have a bad neck and my arm goes numb setting up stands the .5 at 6lbs makes a big difference!! And as I get older at 55 need all the help I can get!! All of those stands are amazing stands! I have not tried the beast stand yet (have one coming that a listener bought for me for scouting some of his hunting areas) and never tried the lwcg stuff. Thanks for the info! I use Muddy Vantage point which is a "cheaper" competitor. It is now discontinued. It is fairly lightweight and does the job. They use a powder coat that wears off quick though. Sun hits it you might as well be sitting in on a tin can- not good. I had to go to Lowes and get some spray coat to cover it up. I definitely been looking to upgrade. This video helps.

    I have an old school OG 8.5 pound Assault... Maybe 20 years old. I thought I would never get rid of that stand. The newer Assault 2 is nice, but it's heavier... So I kept the original 8.5 pounder happily hunting from it for years... When LWCG came out, I opted to hold off. Too expensive and I knew there would be kinks in any new product. Fast forward to today and I bought a new stand... The 1.0. LWCG has ironed out all their issues and it's a solid stand. Weighs about as much as the old Assault I have but has much nicer platform leveling, provisions for carrying a backpack, frame pack feature, tie downs in the platform, provisions for their bow holder, etc... There were enough features there that it made it worth it to me.
    If I were a new hunter just getting into the game, hard to beat the value in Novix..

    I just ordered a Novix Helo. Been in a saddle (and one-sticking) last couple of years and it’s super compact and all but I’ve noticed there are some trees I just can’t get into. Let me rephrase that, I can get into the tree but not position myself on the side of the tree I need to be on (to stay hidden, ease of shooting into shooting lanes etc). If the tree is a leaner, you are the plumb bob and you pendulum to the low side. Can’t beat gravity. It will win every time lol. I absolutely hate shooting out of stands but you can’t shoot if you don’t even get the opportunity to shoot because you got busted in the tree.

    Great review. One thing though I dont think the D'acquisto's own XOP, mever have. They talked about that on a podcast where XOP reached out to Andrae about helping them with their castings. He did help, and Cody got on board and Cody still works for them I believe but Andrae just worked for awhile as a consult. But back to the Novix Helo, I love it and have one. And even though it isnt the lightest I think being under 10lbs for under $250 its the best run and gun stand out there now.

      Very true, but the .5 is very small compared to the beast stand. A light weight stand like the .5 is not that hard to accomplish. Not knocking it as it's a fantastic stand. But the beast stand is a big platform and supe light weight jam packed with good features. Nothing is sacrificed with the beast stand and I would do all day sits back to back in a stand the size of a beast stand. I would not do that in a .5 size stand.

    As an update, I found that climbing onto the little HELO at hunting height was a world of difference from climbing on at ground level. While it’s only half an inch narrower than the Beast stand at its widest point, that’s not where you’re stepping when climbing onto it, and so much of the Helo’s platform is just plain narrow. I’d hate to have to turn around on the thing real fast with a deer I want to shoot in view. It’s all good, though. I’m out only $24 after selling it, and not only is my new Assault 2 no more than a pound heavier, I don’t have to carry a bow holder since my Bowtech sits just find in it’s bow holder. Hard to improve on the ASHO2, unless you machined one instead of casting it so it would be lighter. But who’s gonna pay for that lol?

    • @SamkoTradBow
      @SamkoTradBow  2 роки тому +1

      Yeah the helo 9s a nice stand but I think it comes at a size sacrifice compared to the assault and you only save a pound. Thats the reason I was not buying a helo. My assault is better suited for my hunting. Now the beast stand sacrifices nothing and has a lot of gains. Very excited to run that beast stand this season. But the assault is and always will be the best stand ever made in my opinion.

I can carry a stand no problem. I’ll never understand the weight weenies. They do realize if they get a deer they have to get it out? They going to hire someone? Not saying they’re not nice stands. But I don't need it and it won't make me a better hunter or anything. But it is pure brilliance in design and the price comes from all that labor and time with the machining and finish work. A homemade one. It's 1 inch tubular webbing and it has a 10 inch piece of stiff climbing rope in the loop (also used pex pipe and had great luck).

      Agree its a great stand. They need to add a batwing offset bracket and it would be an excellent stand! Even thought about buying one and seeing if I could add an offset bracket myself to it and doing a video to teach people how to do it. But just don't have the time right now. Hopefully they will get a offset bracket on it asap!

    I’ve owned several LW stands, sticks… In my experience, they’ve come from the factory missing parts and with other serious safety issues. XOP stands are less expensive and I haven’t had any quality control issues as of yet but I’ve only bought one stand. If someone gave me a gift card for a Beast Stand, I would probably use that as my primary stand put can’t justify the cost out of pocket. An XOP Vanish Evolution cost 200. Why would I pay 650 for a beast stand? The difference in cost covers an out of state deer tag. I have a lot of income and am hunting 5 states this year. It’s not about how much money you make but how you manage what you do make that’s more important

      Never had an issue with any of the 11 lone wolf stands or stick sets I've bought. Everyone of them have been flawless. The beast stand for me is well worth the price. I will be buying another beast stand as well. Best stand for my style of hunting I have ever used.

    What do you think about summit viper sd climber

    • @SamkoTradBow
      @SamkoTradBow  3 роки тому +1

      Im a traditional bowhunter and can not use a climber. they are to restrictive to straight limbless trees for me to be able to use in the areas i hunt and set up exactly where i need to be. as a trad guy if i have to move 10 yards to a different tree i just cut my shooting distance in half. my whole world is 20 yards in either direction. so a climber is not very good for me with the tree limitations. Have never used a summit climber.

    Great info Jason thanks for putting out this video. I went with XOP a few years ago I have 6 of them all together. I have 5 of the XOP hang on Maximus the largest hang on they made the platform is 34x24’’. I use these on the private land we hunt and we leave them up for the entire season along with those my hunting partner has 3 Lone Wolf Alpha hang ons that we leave out on the same property for the season as well so we have plenty of options for that property. I am not sure if they make the Maximus anymore as they have not had them on the website for awhile now so I am glad I got mine when I did. For my mobile hunting I went with an XOP Vanish Evolution the smallest stand XOP makes. For my climbing sticks I went with 4 of the XOP patented locking sticks that are mounted to the stand with their stick transport brackets. I drew a tag for Iowa this year so I am really looking forward to trying out my new mobile set up down there!
