  • A quick but complete tutorial on the easiest way to make a timelapse in Factorio. I noticed a lack of up to date and concise timelapse tutorials on UA-cam, so I decided I would try to make the best one :)

    Is there any possibility to lower the screenshot quality?
    In FHD resolution every single screenshot is 5-6 MB large. This is very big.
    I don't want to replace my SSD after 30 hours of gameplay xD
    I want to make 60 FPS movie, that is speeded up 60 times, so I need to take screenshot every 1 second.
    You see how fast this data will flood up my SSD drive and how much it will be.
    It will be over 18 GB of data in just one hour! Wow...

      That is true. No I don’t think so. In that case, I personally would use the mod Cutscene Creator, which is specifically for making videos and cinematics. I used that for my most recent video, the Archipelago tour. You screen record, then give the mod instructions on what you want the “camera” to do, then it can do that, and it removes the stuff like the HUD and GUI so it’s just the game world. And then it doesn’t take much storage space because it’s a real video instead of tons of pictures.

    when I set 30fps and 1800 speed it saves screen about 4 sec. I'm doing something wrong?

      That is very strange, I don’t know what the cause is, but maybe you could try just changing the values until it saves screen at the intervals you prefer?

    Whenever I try and import the screenshots it places then all as 5 full second clips, instead of automatically compressing them. They are all named correctly unless it has to be named “main” rather then “new camera”. If there is a fix I would extremely appreciate it.

      @JoshStPierre  Рік тому

      Hmm, my guess would be that "main" vs "new camera" doesn't matter, but I'm not 100% sure. Are you using Davinci Resolve or something else? Maybe the other video editing softwares have different behavior? Also are you sure that your screenshots are sequentially named? They need to be sequential. Make sure the checkbox is checked in the mod settings for sequential naming.

      @@JoshStPierre I got Davinci resolve for this exact purpose, and I doubled checked and even a 20 frame timeline doesn’t make the compacted video. All of Which are named correctly. Although I am using the free version and of your using the pro version that could be what makes the difference.

      @@JoshStPierre would you happen to know how to change the name of the screenshots? Because I believe the issue is originating in the fact that the files are called “new camera” with the space causing the issues

    for whatever reason the images dont get named sequentially one by one but always get the speed gain value added on top. so if i have a file called 03745800-main.png and have my speed gain at 1800 the next file wont be 03745801-main.png but 03747600-main.png instead. this causes davinci resolve to not be able to just put the images in a clip but imports them all individually, which wouldnt be a problem if it wouldnt set every frame to 5 seconds long no matter what i do. i dont know what to do and a couple google searches couldnt help me either.
    actually, scrap all that. i just made a copy of the images and batch renamed them so that they do have a sequential naming scheme as shown in another davinci resolve tutorial related to this topic but it still wont put the images into a clip.

    • @JoshStPierre
      @JoshStPierre  2 роки тому

      That is so weird, I'm really sorry that's happening. So you're saying that even though you got them named sequentially, Davinci won't automatically make them into a video when you put them in the media storage? Hmm. I wish I was better with computers so I could help you, but the extent of my knowledge on this topic is really just this video.

      @@JoshStPierre ive started a new world and used the timelapse mod again and this time the naming scheme for the files is properly sequential. starting with 1 and counting up in increments of 1. dont know if i maybe unchecked the box for sequential naming scheme last time or if the mod got updated but now it should work. havent tried putting it in davinci yet but i think with the proper file names it shouldnt be an issue.
