A moon on your forehead! It’s a bat! Water bottle attack!! Very entertaining! Husband and I have been there and done that. BTW: We carry bear spray on the beaches for protection. Also, those glow in the dark plastic things you see around Fourth of July are great for marking where you entered the beach and to wear in your body to make it easier to find you, especially when with a group. We will keep watching! Good luck!
Your comment helped me put words what’s actually scary about it. It’s not the dark, it’s the fact there’s predators up here. Sloshing around in the water might attract bears, or at least cover up the sound as they approach. I carry bear spray out here too!
I love looking for minerals after I got my UV flashlight, wandering the Black Rock Desert in Nevada was intense with all the colors popping up. Not to mention the glowing scorpions!
When I lived in the desert, we installed screens on our registers and put the bed legs in bowls of water to control the scorps inside the house. One of our cats used to catch them and leave them dead on the doormat. Always a treat dodging them to pick up the morning paper.
I've always wanted to hunt for fluorescent sodalites at night. I got a bunch of them from a trade for some of my WA agates and I've been hooked ever since. Great video!
@@ThirdPlanetRocks I would love to go to Ontario just to rock hound as well. BC has some great stuff, I’m on Vancouver Island and there’s unique things here, tho the interior is probably way superior Maybe we could trade some stones some day👍
@micsmarvelousmusic8686 I’d love that! Working on setting up some ways to get in touch with people that have left comments to trade/meet up. Hope to see you stick around! 👊🏻
Bruh that nature dark is some scary shit
I do okay in the dark, it’s the cold water that really adds to the eerie feel for me
“I have the MOON on my forehead” 😂

Aw man, I wanted to do that when I was in NV last year. It was winter and I didn’t come across a single scorpion after camping 3 weeks in the desert
I’m ordering a UV myself, what a great way to rock hound
Get 365nm wavelength. It’ll look less purple to the naked eye, but it’ll light up a much wider range of fluorescent minerals!
@@ThirdPlanetRocks thx for the tip, kinda was what I’ve been reading, but good to know👍

Enjoyed your video. I found 4 looperlites tonight. My first time hunting for them. I'm so excited, hooked and can not wait to find more.
Good stuff! They’re so much fun to look for. I love how hypnotizing it is out there with just the UV light
What a great haul ! I would be way to scared ! But you proved that is the way to get them. So many, congrats 👍
It definitely feels like something is watching you, especially waving the flashlight around. Thank you!!

Thank you! It’s a lot of fun. The water is only about 45 degrees F, so it really makes you feel vulnerable out there at night
Nice! You are pretty brave. I’d have a giant flashlight and scan everything every few minutes before going to the UV……even with company! Thanks
It was calm but terrifying out there. That 40deg water on your feet really intensifies it lol
Muck Boots are a must for these adventures. By the way, it is possible to fully tumble these to a nice gloss and they still look great under 365nm.
Really? That’s good insight on the tumbling!
And yeah, I desperately need some waders+boots. Want a nice “buy it for life” type of pair.
Welcome back, long time no see 🎉
What kind of light are you using?
Hey Mohammad - it’s a 365nm shortwave UV light!
You don't really have to wait until it's completely dark outside. Twilight will do. You can get clothing made of netting to help with the bugs.
I hiked far enough down the beach that I was likely going to be out in full darkness anyways. Good tip on the netted clothing!
Very cool, I’ve wanted to do some night hunting for some gemstones out here in BC
BC is on my bucket list. Up in Ontario now actually!
