The best part is when the guy with the Gibson walks and say.: -man, l can’t hardly believe this moment! Now, jokes aside... Pretty decent play if you dig blues.
Erm...thanks for posting two ‘very able’ guitarists playing blues...but I have to ask what possessed you to think it’s credible (or in anybody’s interest) to claim them to be - and I quote, "The two best guitarists ever!!"? Apparently some 7 million people have viewed your post, yet only a handful have commented on it - and of these most appear to have been negative - since as you yourself intimated, taste is subjective. It seems therefore that most everybody disagrees with your claim. So what have you proved? Only that a showboating tagline - rather than the music - drew the crowds. That’s pretty pointless, don’t you think? There are doubtless hundreds of thousands of guitar players around the world who can mimic (possibly even outplay) the “guitar legends” whose names abound here...but most of us will never hear of them. Why? Because mimics is all they are. The measure of a great musician (for me, anyway) is surely someone who creates - out of nothing, so to speak - memorable, moving, mesmerising music. That’s what we know these great guitarists for - their music. Their virtuosity and dexterity on the frets are simply bonuses - they’re not measures of “guitar greatness” - they’re just measures of guitar virtuosity and dexterity. To close, I appreciated the virtuosity and dexterity on show here but only liked VERY small parts of the music on offer - because I find it hackneyed and thus uninteresting. Let’s face it, we’ve all heard this sort of stuff a million times, and no matter how well it’s done, musically it’s just the “same old, same old”.
+Michael Warwick having come across these guys for the first time, I must say that if the other 7M people were as impressed and amazed as I, then thats a bloody good reason to just sit back and enjoy! Thanks Nicholas!
Dave Williams Fair comment, but if the other 7M were as impressed as you obviously were, why have none of them commented to this end? I rest my case. :-)
+Michael Warwick I agree completely, as per my earlier comment. Creation and execution are necessities when searching for the all-time greats. Once enough study is done, one can clearly surmise which guitarists are inventing that moment and which guitarists are stumbling upon tricks and trades of early works. The idea that these two exceed the ability, creativity, or even SOUL of players like Wes Montgomery, Joe Pass, Jimi Hendrix, Kenny Burrel, John Mayer, Eric Clapton (or even Larry Coryell for whom I have nothing but disdain) is an absurdity. This is to say nothing of the fact that it is truly an impossible feat to attempt to rank the best guitarists in any degree, through any technique, moment, style, or understanding. No list will ever satisfy me nor will it rightfully satisfy any two people the same way. This in conjunction with dubbing Robben Ford and Larry Carlton as the two best guitar players of all-time blows my mind and tortures my soul to no end. Nice to see your comment.
READ VID DESCRIPTION. It’s called hyperbole. By the way.. Did you not think that there may be another “there’s no best” comment already? … let alone thousands.. I’m glad you made your point though, good job. We were all waiting to hear what you had to say about it.
I can never say one guy is better than another. I look at it as combing picking with the sound and soul of the guitar. I remember when I was young we use to like the guys who did these lightning solos, but with age you get more mature listening to different players. Look at the sounds Derek Trucks gets, it's primo slide A+, but it's ridiculous for me to say he's the best. These 2 guys I have seen both live, Larry and Robben are more jazz oriented than a lot of the rock guys, the same with John Mclaughlin, and some of Tommy Bolins stuff. I guess my favorite might be what I'm listening to at the moment!
Have to agree with your comment. I'm not to hip on Ford but Carlton set the jazz standard in his day. I used to watch hill street blues just for that intro guitar. Bad ass shit. Larry at his finest. And "dont take me alive"? R u fuckin kiddin me??? Anyone with a smidge of guitar interest(as far as jazz /blues goes) will wear that song out fast. Good pick dude
You really can't choose between Robben and Larry they're both great and these guys played with the greatest when they where young. Just to mention Robben Ford was the guitar player of Miles Davis for a while.... Carlton played with so many that the list would be too long but many of the great solos you know and you don't where written and played by him.... Kid Charlemagne for example (Steely Dan). If you're looking for some blues influenced by jazz these two guys is where you're looking for. MARSTERS OF GUITAR
Check out the ladies band "Jane Lee Hooker" The lady Guitarist are terrific. Also the drumer. But the vocals are the best. Her nick name is Dena Dangerous. They are unreal, original and just fun. Watch Dena sing John Lee Hookers(who's name they use) sing "I'm a Man" on Rockplast 2017. Good stuff.
Being a musician isn't a competition. There can be a different greatest every night .it's about collaboration with fellow musicians not competing against them.
Come on guys - he only put the title up to grab your attention! We have two great guitarists playing their arses off! Whaddya want - blood on the strings? Smoke coming off the fretboard? Hendrix, Prince, Segovia - who cares who is/was best? Comparisons are meaningless. They all made their own contributions to some knockout music & inspired a hell of a lot of us along the way. Can't believe 1900 thumbs downers! Get off your high horses & enjoy this beautiful playing by two guys at the top of their game...
It's Clapton and Hendrix! BB King and Buddy Guy! Django and Joe Pass! Oh, it's two people I've never heard of. To be fair, one of 'em played with Steely Dan, but still...
About good guitarists check those: -- Shuggie Otis... (the Rollings Stone had wanted to engaged him at the age of only 16... -- See also the guitarist of killing floor first album: -- Freddie King -- Danny Gatton -- Eric Jonhson -- Carlos Santana, of course -- and of COURSE, the guitarist of Yes -- And M.Box from Uriah Heep....

+Michael Warwick Hello, did you not get that the title was strictly marketing?
+Michael Warwick And your ass, you ass. Troll your kids' bridge, but get out from under ours.
Larry was a part of the 70s jazz-rock fusion.....listened to him a lot back in the day....he can really burn up the fret-board.
Nice playing. Thanks.
Joe Bonamassa's "Just got paid" fro the concert in Royal Albert Hall create a new level and standard among guitarist's
No such thing as “the best”……..it isn’t comparison…..it isn’t …….it is passion and pain and joy…..
I remember when I was young we use to like the guys who did these lightning
solos, but with age you get more mature listening to different players.
Look at the sounds Derek Trucks gets, it's primo slide A+, but it's ridiculous
for me to say he's the best.
These 2 guys I have seen both live, Larry and Robben are more jazz oriented
than a lot of the rock guys, the same with John Mclaughlin, and some of Tommy Bolins stuff.
I guess my favorite might be what I'm listening to at the moment!
yep yes and hell yea these guys jam
It's enjoying playing & doing it ❣
They may or may not be the best Guitarists, does it matter? the piece is however very, very cool. Thank you Nicholas.
Looks like my old band mates from another era.😎
deep, soul dipped and dripping blue
Missprint....two of the best. Too many greats to say these two are THE best, however very accomplished and both masters
I would not argue. They are just great! Like Peter Green and Roy Buchanan, who were also mighty great.
Awesome! Thank You!!!!!
Yw
Nice jam session
imagine Roy Buchanan and Jimi trading shreds. Makes my brain melt.
Elsker Blues.Dette var supert.
The way they bring it waaaaaayyyyyyy down and then heat it UP...
Nice!!!
Good stuff.
to me....it's about "THE FEEL" that makes any guitarist Inspirational. it's not who the best is when they all have the same feel. ;)
What tone !
Very good Great musicians . Guitar talk to you. What the name of jam song ?
forgiven great stuff
Being a musician isn't a competition. There can be a different greatest every night .it's about collaboration with fellow musicians not competing against them.
everybody forgets about the bass and drummer who is more than half the show
wow
Class act
Come on guys - he only put the title up to grab your attention! We have two great guitarists playing their arses off! Whaddya want - blood on the strings? Smoke coming off the fretboard? Hendrix, Prince, Segovia - who cares who is/was best? Comparisons are meaningless. They all made their own contributions to some knockout music & inspired a hell of a lot of us along the way. Can't believe 1900 thumbs downers! Get off your high horses & enjoy this beautiful playing by two guys at the top of their game...
good sounds
excelent vidio
It's Clapton and Hendrix! BB King and Buddy Guy! Django and Joe Pass!
Oh, it's two people I've never heard of.
To be fair, one of 'em played with Steely Dan, but still...
About good guitarists check those:
-- Shuggie Otis... (the Rollings Stone had wanted to engaged him at the age of only 16...
-- See also the guitarist of killing floor first album:
-- Freddie King
-- Danny Gatton
-- Eric Jonhson
-- Carlos Santana, of course
-- and of COURSE, the guitarist of Yes
-- And M.Box from Uriah Heep....
one of the best controversial title for sure...
very good
Very nice 👍. Z
Why is everyone taking this so seriously. I think we all knew they weren't going to be the best its just the title of the video your not suppose to get so upset about it.
i feel so good
and now i feel so good again
All a matter of opinion.. They are all great. Just focus on the beauty of the blues...
They’re fine players but best part for me is that they started out with a highly altered version of Horace Silver’s *Señor Blues* 😎
Good stuff, not sorry I checked it out.
Important addendum to my previous post: GILMOUR is a must among the top 4 spots without question. Won't sleep tonight unless I get DG in my post! LOL. Thanks for this great video but I'd rather be tied to the WHIPPINGPOST, or COMFORTABLY NUMB!!
