You may never play as well as Tommy or Mike but there is one thing you can do as well as them. You can ENJOY your playing (no matter your skill level) as much as they do! So enjoy what you can do and continue to learn. Be blessed.

Them doing shows is fine, but Mike and Tommy SHOULD record an ALBUM together. 20 songs, the ultimate acoustic experience. Please Mike and Tommy, do that.
Saw both of these guys in Bend, Oregon late 2022. Then I ran into Tommy while he was in line to buy a muffin at SeaTac airport in late February. I was heading to Italy and he was headed to London "to be grandad" - which, it seems, was the same trip that this performance was filmed over. Super nice, down to earth. I almost asked for a photo with him, but decided not to be that guy, and instead just thanked him for being so inspiring. What a treat to meet the legend in person.
I can imagine. Tommy's attitude is every so humble. Just a great guy who happens to play the guitar virtuously, but that's not worth mentioning, if you'd ask Tommy, I'm sure. ☺
@@anoniem7062 So very true!!! He's just out there doing what he absolutely loves ... and is doing it HIS way!!! So glad he never compromised his talent!
I met Tommy and John Knowles when the played together at the Birchmere in VA a few years back. I dragged my sister along and she loved it! We had the chance to speak with these great musicians after the concert. So generous with their time and good nature. Wonderful, special people.
As Mike said , Tommy can play anything . It's the exposure to different styles that let Tommy grow and let his accompliss grow as well. That fact that Tommy and Mike are both so skilled and aware of feelings allows them both to move in so many directions , even uncharted directions . I know that they are enjoying the exchange. It's just so great !
TommyE, the most sensitive banjo player in all the Southern States lol..... I love when 2 amazing musician compliment one another without some kind of competition to establish dominance!! Bravo
Fabulous - I have been lucky enough to see Tommy live in the UK 3 times - once, when I tried to get tickets for the Turner Sims hall in Southampton, I was told they were sold out and would I like to go on a list for any seats that might come up. I said yes but thinking nothing would come of it. I then got a phone call and was told I could get tickets in row AA. So went, really happy to get any seats. Imagine my surprise when I found that these seats were actually on the stage to one side!!! So, we were front row, on the stage and Tommy about 10 feet away!!!!! Beyond awesome!
I'm a musician and I'm a good guitar player. The quality of that performance is totaly out of this world! I listended both of you on different videos, I take some Tommy's lecons on Internet, but the chemistry of you two is beautifull. Love you guys 🙂
Yep i like to think i have some measure of musical insight. I too play, (badly by their standards ) however these two have an unbelievable congruence utterly astounding and humble with it.
Tommy has always been one of those guys who I know I'll never in a million years be as good as, but I'm totally fine with that, and Mike is just mind blowing everytime I see him play, these are 2 of the best, surely. Good for the soul.
It's a blast to see two accomplished masters bounce off each other so vibrantly. Dawes is clearly comfortable in the percussive/bass/rythym role, which I think must highlight his achievements as a solo artist. Tommy needs no encouragement to fly across the canvas that Dawes gives him. An amazing partnership.
its unbelievable the amazing palette of sounds an acoustic guitar can project when played by gifted musicians. Most people only do basic chords or only use it to acompany themselves while singing. When you see this performance you start to get why the manufactures care so much for the selection of the woods, the strings quality, the sonority, all the engineering and craftmanship dedicated to a guitar is destined for perfomances like this.
Just Magical Guy's, musical perfection, you Don't need ANYTHING ELSE ( horns piano- nothing) just 2 Well Played acoustic guitars. Cheers guys just old Don here from Hamilton NZ on my Wife's tablet-SUSAN 😮😮😮
That's it I am putting my electric back in the case and putting my acoustic back on the stand . Just to stare at it and imagine I could be as good as these two.❤
I love starting at 1:17 - 1:22 , Mike played a passing chord that added a different feel for Tommy and Mike's face was like "hmm that worked out!" Tommy looks over and responds with "yeah that was nice!" You can tell they truly love what they're doing, makes me smile.
Every time I see and hear Tommy Emmanuel I leave dazed and dazzled. He's a good example of the fact that there is no such thing as "The Greatest Guitarist". Just a bunch of people that bring their unique talents for us all to enjoy.
Tommy's fingers look so calm, like anyone should be able to do this, Mike's fingers often look alien, like no one else could do this. (Like Bucket Head) They're both amazing.
Oh my GOD!!!!!!!!!!!! Are you guys for real? wow!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Lost for words, you just made the totally impossible, possible, well possible to listen to , thank you sooooooooooooo much , Barry, humble Irish guitarist songwriting singer
Improvisational guitarists like Tommy Emmanuel, are few and far between. I'd give my eye teeth to just sit and TRY to play with/against him for just five minutes. These two are in a category of their own.It was a pleasure just Listening to this video. Thank you😊
It's amazing how these two never paint themselves into a corner when they are improvising, without getting out of it and never letting you know they were there.
This was a true treat. Both unbelievable guitarists but what makes them truly great is their humility and ability to have fun. Thanks, gentlemen, for what you do and I wish you both many years of incredible joy doing what you enjoy.
Beautiful cover of Sting's "Fields Of Gold"!...They play off of each other so exquisitely...Just saw Tommy for the second time this past December, here in Tucson....He was miraculous, as always...He's a blessing to us all!
You two are beyond incredible!! You play together perfectly, so clean and right on time! Much respect and great appreciation for your music! Thanks! 🙏🏻
The alchemy between those guys is outstanding. 2 or maybe 3 generations separate them in age, but they are one in music. This is just great, man. I'm wordless.
What beautiful playing. Guitar Village is such a great guitar shop. I travelled a few 100 miles there to get a bucket list acoustic about 15 years ago, because I knew they had all the ones I wanted to try, and would be able to play them side by side. Staff couldn’t have been nicer or more accommodating, and I got a Martin D28 that still fills my heart with joy whenever I pick it up. Love those guys, and love that store.

The world seems a better place after watching these two. Pure magic !!
There certainly is beauty in this world, if you know where to look and listen!
Absolutely 👍❤️
I had the pleasure of seeing T. E. twice! Sincerely, a humble man.
Hearing these two play together is a moving experience.
That was joyous, you beautiful people. Thank you
Two of the best guitarists I've heard.
"Fields of Gold" is done beautifully. 🙂 Let the Force Blows Through You!
What we really NEED, is an ALBUM.
I've lost count how many times I've gone back to this video just to hear this golden duo make the guitar come to life. Truly something special...
Oh my. It just does not get better than this. Blessed to have watched it.
The best of one six stringer to another. There's no need for words, simply an exchange of music; beautiful.

Give yourself credit. You can probably play like him if you practice about 99 years 😀
To be this competent is almost other worldly.
Imagine acoustic guitar masters like Mike Dawes and Tommy Emmanuel not being in this world. Neither can I.
NO, NO, NO…
