Best SWAC battle of 2011...I'm Blue and White 'til the end, The BOOM do the thang EVERYTIME, but I was really impressed with TXSU, they sounding cleaner and cleaner each year it seems!
DANG OCEAN !! Yall puttin out some HEAT and yall not even big at all. Most of all, yall are CLEAN !....raises both thumbs up

Simple clean arrangements always out perform sloppy complicated arrangements... Perfect where you are... When TxSU start playing A LOT of fully arranged songs, they are gonna be so clean because they spend time putting in the work to perfect their craft... Kudos to Texas Southern... I just found a new band that I like!!!
Its always good to see two of the best get together. JSU,SU,and TSU got that competitive, but entertaining thing to them!

All of you up here talking about being clean and not overblowing by TXSU, please these boys giving it their all and doing it well. As far as having their own identity idk about that. I see a lot of the Juke from them. They sound good tho and gave JSU all that they can handle and with more numbers would have dug them a grave a little like SU did.

I hate giving out L's whenever both bands are bringing. Best pregame this year. Huge Txsu fan and this the J State I like. Both bands grooving.
TXSU is the best band and the Motion is the best dance line in country!! Jsettes are lame with those old counts they used since 93

Yeah it is an excuse, especially when not every section has a big size difference. Yes, the trumpet section is bigger but it's not like the BOOM got 60 trumpets, and the Ocean still got 20+. They acting like they only got 12 trumpets or something. And you can't really compare a band to a bigger band and say what they would do with that size because if you been big a long time you don't have to play with the same style as a smaller band.

@MarcusGraham1 if you actually listen you can hear that txsu's mellos don't drown out the rest of the band, but when they are given a part to be heard on it's not overwhelming.jsu's lower brass is over powering their trumpets it sounds like only 10 of them are actually playing instead of the 30+ that they have.

And ofcourse you gone hear every section when certain sections ain't so strong or you play a couple songs that designed for each section to have they spot to shine. That's just an excuse folks use for getting smashed and MEAC band use for not being as good as SWAC. If the BOOM wanted to we could play circles around most of the SWAC bands and come out sounding like a PWC or DCI. Even when we crank up we still got a cleaner sound that most bands

just to add also.....if your band was lets say 220 and is now 160 and you play with intensity or power whichever you want to call it. the intensity or power will still be there as long as it's not an individual section carrying your band. example TxSU MELLOS are stronger than than trumpet section so they will stand out. JSU'S whole band play with intensity or power so by them being smaller they still have that intensity.
I'm a huge JSU fan but the W goes to TxSU. TxSU was a lot cleaner and more balanced.

Maybe folks seeing something in the video I'm not seeing or basing comments off all 3 clips, but I'm not seeing what about TxSU got everyone hyped up. I mean they pretty good, but the hype is crazy. Everyone talking bout trumpets and mellos but the crankin parts on first song and @ 5:06 is setup for them to shine. Aint much difference in size of both bands mello sections and JSU got a lot more sound to cut through.

@MrScreamer601 thats an opinion...they also have tubas, trombones, and btones (that beast no matter how small their section is). and the size topic is not an excuse you still have people to this day still talking about the 2006 version on txsu(the year they were huge) because they were not to be fucked with at all that year.

I so vote TxSU on this one. They both are good but TxSU are in the more balanced sides and being able hear every instrament in the band.

TxSU has a beautiful sound to be honest. JSU drum majors had me laughing how hard they be feeling those songs. Well, on Motivation, they was doing it like they were dead, but it was all good. TxSU piccs, you can hear them and it sounds pretty nice. What was the name of that song TxSU playing at 4:05? JSU F-horns. >>>

ok just cuz jsu play loud dont mean its not balanced cuz on everyone song every section is there hitting hard not talking down on txsu but sure they have a more "controlled" sound but you know you here the fact that they mellos out class they trumpets
I must say that the smaller band sounds better and more crisp. Sonic Boom needs to clean it up. They clearly got out boxed in this round

@collegegurlz08 i would prefer ppl to record the band to but for wat all the band is doing is playing. in the stands the dancers are the focus. and i give tsu they props but u cant call JSU sorry and actually mean it unless ur being biased or letting your pride get in the way

Jsettes have a name for themselves hence they have they own style which is named after them that damn near every black HS mimic in some shape form or fashion!
