In the italian edition they fixed the inconsistency with the names Black haired dog:"Ciao Sam!" Red haired dog:"Ciao Fred!" Black nosed wolf:"Salve Ralph!" Red nosed wolf:"Salve George!"

This has always reminded me of the Democrats & Republicans…and now I believe that’s exactly the statement being made here - notice how the coyotes have a blue time clock and the dogs have a red one.

In the first two Ralph Wolf/Sam Sheepdog cartoons Don't Give Up The Sheep (1953) and Sheep Ahoy (1954), the names of both Ralph and Sam and their night-shift replacements are inconsistent, where their names have been switched. Its not until Double Or Mutton (1955) which changed all these; beginning from this cartoon both Ralph and Sam's names are consistent, the two are clearly established as co-workers, and both their night-shift replacements Fred Wolf and George Sheepdog are not seen again.
