I have a Pedersoli replica Sharps 1874 in .45/70 and. Ruger No 1 which will handle hard kicking loads. The Pedersoli double is a lovely rifle, shot one some years ago and wish I had bought it. Factory .45/70 loads are quit mild compared to what is possible with hand loads in a modern rifle . Definitely a pig rifle.
long live the 45-70, 140 years and still kicking :-) I shoot my 1895 Marlin comfortably up to 100 yards, at 200 yards the buckhorn sides makes it a bit more challenging :-)
Have the Pedersoli double in 45-70 but with a silver colored engraved receiver. Just got mine used at Cabelas in Idaho. The gun is fun to shoot and gets a lot of attention when I take it out. Thanks for the video cause I think it’s the first one on UA-cam with this particular firearm.
That was a really fun rifle I think it’s worth the 11grand in my opinion . Pedasoli makes very high quality rifles and Musket reproductions. I would love to own their 1873 Springfield reproduction in 45/70😊
Very beautiful gun, it's nice to see a break action double rifle. Here in America we have single shot break action rifles readily available. The ones that come to mind are the Henrys and Thompson Contenders, though there are others. I'm assuming those two are allowed in Australia?
First thing I thought was this thing was gonna kick the shit out of you. I'm guessing it must be really heavy to soak up that 45-70 recoil. I shot a friend's Rossi Rio Grande 45-70 years ago and it was pretty harsh. Pedersoli does make some really nice rifles from what I've seen. They make replicas of the Springfield Trapdoor and various falling block and lever actions. Had no idea that they had a double barrel rifle though.
That's a rifle, in a caliber, I would never have expected to shoot that accurately at that distance and with apparently negligable recoil. I was blown away when you drilled that first cannister! Could be a very addicting habit. You are shooting subsonic ammo that still hits like Thor's hammer.
Good Lord, where do you live? I could get 375 H&H for $3 a shot even during the Covid panic-buying, and it’s much less common here (USA) than 45-70. Perhaps that’s the problem - 45-70 is much more common than 375 H&H, but I would much prefer the latter to the former.
The Baikal Double rifle in 45/70 has a special adjustable barrel Supper accurate. Only cost 900 bucks. I’d like to see it in 45/90 or bigger That Pedersoli looks great.
Oh my God! Your Australia is beautiful. But honestly, I thought the Aussies had turned into bleeding pussified wimps. I thought you all let the Socialists take your guns away from you. Glad to see the Commies didn't get them all. 45-70 is a great cartridge. They have a trajectory like a rainbow, but they are so fun to shoot long distances. 300- 500 yards shots are very satisfying and without a 30 shot magazine I can have an afternoon of quality time in the field without breaking the budget. Reloading those 45-70s are a breeze too. Just love them. A good spotting scope is an accessorie that I find really good to bring with me when shooting paper targets and long range silhouettes also. I have a gas canister hanging from a tripod made of rebar and it rings out like a bell so great it puts a smile on my face when it peels.
Had one I purchased in 1998 for $2200 sold it in 2015 for $4200 sure have gone up in price. They are regulated for the 405gr bullet and will shoot rights and lefts into a 4 in group at 75yds I shot the dickens out if mine.
A very pretty double rifle indeed. And it would probably be enough gun for any North American game. But if you had some Cape buffalos running around in your backyard, perhaps trampling your mom's azaleas, then I would recommend something with a bit more kick.
I have been a professional shooter for 35 years and as soon as it even looks like rain the rifles go back in the bags and straight on the pack horse , or tent .
It does not recoil because your shooting wussy loads. Factory ammo is pathetic, get some buffalo Bore P+ then you'll feel it. Also at 9.5lbs or more the weight is absorbing the recoil. Get the one in 450NE it will be a whole different story mate! Good video.
Nice we get 45-70 double rifles here in the UK. Thumbs up and thank you for the video. :)
Thanks for showing it 👍
Love the sound of the ricochets! Sweet rifle.

Did the cabelas in boise have more than one, and if so what was the price?
@@mausermoisn2617 only the one I got.
Great vid Aaron what a rifle im overwhelmingly surprised in such a rifle in that caliber how versatile
Good shooting. Expensive rifle!!!
👍🍺😎
The fausti sxs in 45-70 is also a great handling rifle.

Yes they are.
Made the 45/70 seem like a pussycat. You can load these bad boys up to take down an elephant...

It was a heavy gun. I couldn't believe it had no kick.
It weighs more than 10 pounds!
Try the Garrett Hammerhead ammunition. I handload for the 45-70 and will say that all but a few factory loads are anemic at best.
Is the federal fusion and federal premium 45-70 "anemic"?
That is a beautiful gun .... be nice to have that in the collection.

G'day wow what a rifle 👍🍻
I think at 11k (given the current exchange anyway) you would like the Austrian Franz Sodia double rifles in maybe somthing like a 9.3x74r.
Changing loads should definitely affect "points" of impact.
45-70 is $98 a box of 20 at my local shop, but I suppose $5 a round is not a problem when you've got an 11k rifle.

Thing is though you can't get them in the US.
@@bigjon576 you can find them used in the US here and there. My brother was lucky enough to find one years ago but he's not parting with it lol
You can absolutely buy them new in the US.
I found one in BC, second hand, never shot. Basically that is. Excellent, kicks though with bear rounds.
Doesn't that rifle come with an extra set of 12 gauge/bore shotgun barrels?

The commies DID disarm them.

What range is it regulated for, I'm guessing it can't be adjusted via grub screws like the Baikals.
Can you put a scope on this rifle
Nice rifle for sure and the recoil is mitigated by the 10.5# weight. 🥵
1:16 you can hear the bullet spin off the side of the cylinder.
Stick it up
Nice looking rifle, so is the price tag
Buying one

They do not have Cape Buffalo, but there are plenty of Asian Buffalo to have a go at, but then they are very docile compared to a "proper" Buffalo.

Desde campana Buenos Aires argentina....divina..quiero una...salut
Brown's plains store needs to sort out their web page link it shit.
It would be awesome if it was hammerless, just a box lock...
Rifle is faulty, 45-120 chamber reamer required to fix.
That's a quick way to lose $11000
@@shootingstuffaustralia8977 $11k on a double rifle that ricochets off a propane tank, 45-70 doesnt do it justice
@@WarezWally didn't remember hearing him mention what loads were used, but.... Garrett cartridge 540 grain Hammerheads might change his paradigm ??

11 grand ? Thats a lot of mula for a big bore double barrel rifle.
Should be 4k-ish

No kick from full loads... Just shows how gutless the 45-70 actually is... Nice for shooting anything that can't bite you.
And you use a 1-bore?
@@JackGorton1960s Come to Africa and see how many people use 45-70 when their life depends on it....
arent this inaccurate? since it is double barrel?
Horrible the grouping of that double.
Bitch about much do you.
Hes not using a bipod or tripod so thats probably the reason for poor grouping of shots
