Chancellor Rodrick's sacrifice really highlights one of my favorite things about this game. The story may be centered around the Herald, but she's not the only hero. Throughout every step of the journey, you're surrounded by other people helping in whatever small ways they can. Mother Giselle and the relief workers in the Hinterlands. The mages or templars that join the Inquisition. Everyone you talk to in Haven that put their lives behind to join the cause. Even Rodrick, one of the early antagonists, uses his small bit of knowledge to help save everyone. Everywhere you go, there are people doing what little good they can. It's incredibly inspiring how the game can show you don't need a magic hand to do good for the people around you. It reminds me of my favorite quote from Lord of the Rings. "It is the small, everyday deeds of ordinary folk that keeps the darkness at bay. Simple acts of love and kindness." On a less happy note, Holy Hell that introduction for Corypheus! You spend the first act of the game building stuff up, and he just marches right in, smashes your hub, kills half the NPCs, and thoroughly destroys you. The Dragon Age games have always kind of struggled with having an active and *present* villain. Archdemon was a decent movie monster, but too impersonal. Loghain was a wonderfully complex character, but not present enough for you to see it. Meredith and the Qunarii in DA2 were okay, but they completely paled in comparison to Corypheus in terms of scale and *presentation!* It's all just so very good
Yup. I love the story of Inquisition because you really feel like you're a true movement. Sure you're a leader, but you're one of many people helping. It's a rare thing to see in stories (especially those with chosen ones) that a movement of change doesn't just happen with the leader. History may be filled with Great Men, but it is moved by everyday people working together.
One could say that Solas didn't sing along because he is not Andrastean and didn't know it. One could say that he didn't tell the Herald about Corypheus' orb earlier because he hadn't seen Corypheus wielding it before the attack on Haven. One could very well say all that. I couldn't possibly comment...
I'm laughing at myself for that first part. I guess I honestly thought everyone just magically knew the lyrics, like High School Musical, and he was purposefully staying silent instead of breaking into song like the rest of the cast. 🤣🤣🤣

"I killed Flemeth, no I thought I killed Flemeth but she shows up in Dragon Age 2" Not quite, Flemeth saves Hawke and their family before the Warden faces her. 1:11:11 I think you're talking about: "We stand on the precipice of change. The world fears the inevitable plummet into the abyss. Watch for that moment and when it comes, do not hesitate to leap. For it is only when you fall, you learn you can fly.
What? No, the Warden killed the Flemeth in the Korcari Wilds before ending the Blight. By the time Hawke helps Flemeth to resurrect through her "small piece" on the ring, the Blight has been defeated. The whole point of that quest was to show how Flemeth managed to not stay dead.
@@writershard5065Hawke meets Flemeth before the warden kills her as the beginning of da2 is set before the ending of origins, later after the prologue the game timeskips to I think it was a year later and next time Hawke meets her is when she unknowingly resurrects her. If you ever want to learn more about Cole (I find him one of the most interesting characters in the entire series) and his origins and story(the game doesn't do him the justice he deserves), read Dragon Age: Asunder. He is first introduced in that book.
@@MegMage Awesome! I thankfully did read it (plus Stolen Throne and The Calling) before DAI and loved it too. Then when I first saw that young man and he said his name, I was all like, OMG COLE!!!!! that's what's beautiful about Bioware games the story the dialogues the characters the relationships between them and escruciating choices. here your character is the only one who can save the world has an immense power that she didn't choose to have people kneel in front of her thinking she's some sort of prophet sent by God how does she use that power? does she believe she's chosen or not? does she exploit people beliefs to her advantage? does she use her power to do good or become a tyrant? ENDGAME SPOILERS FOR PEOPLE WHO HAVEN'T FINISHED THE PLAYTHROUGH (do not read if you don't want spoilers) I think the reason Solas approves every time you ask a question is not because he is just cocky and wants to boast his knowledge but because whenever you ask him something, he appreciates that you care enough to wonder or are interested. I'm sure most people tend to write him off as looney or are ignorant of his knowledge and experience because he is a bit of a loner and a bit weird, when he sees you being actually interested in what he has to say, perhaps he feels a bit more normal or understood. Let's be honest, if I spent that much time in the fade, I'd go a little crazy too and I'm sure I would also be a bit cocky were I as intelligent as he is. Don't get me wrong, he has his faults for sure but I think for people to say that he is cocky and he doesn't care about anything else other than the fade is just taking him at face value and not seeing the actual person. And especially in hindsight, (this part is a bit irrelevant because you said what you said here before knowing who is really is) his behaviour is understandable. All those years of being asleep in the fade, only to wake up and find your entire world ruined, your people a minority and slaves, knowing it was your fault, would make anyone lose their shit. Having all that guilt, Solas is still pretty well contained.
